PvP (Arena) Ranking

Ranked by PvP relevance from community PvP priority data — complements the Story/Boss table above. Check both for the mode you play.

What this tier list assumes

This ranking assumes characters are well-invested (skills leveled, decent gear, a Harmony Cube equipped) and is judged on general PvE Story progression. Placements shift with game mode and team comp — a unit that is weak in Story can still be top tier in bossing or PvP.

Special markings

  • Favorite Item: the unit has a bond item that boosts stats — the ranking assumes it is unlocked.
  • Limited: only from limited banners, not in the standard pool.
  • Heavy investment: needs high skill levels or dupes to reach its rated power.
  • Team-dependent: only strong in specific team comps.
  • High manual skill: the score assumes good manual burst timing and aiming.

Rankings differ by game mode

NIKKE has several modes and a unit can rank very differently across them: Story (PvE stage clearing), Bossing (Solo Raid / Union Raid — sustained single-target damage), and PvP Arena (burst-generation speed and quick kills). Read the tier for the mode you actually play.

The 5-unit Burst-tier team formula

A NIKKE team fields 5 units, but only 3 of them fire the Full Burst chain (I → II → III — see the Burst Calculator above); the other 2 are secondary Burst I/II units that buff or support. The most common way the community fills the remaining slots is Burst I + Burst I + Burst II + Burst III + Burst III, or Burst I + Burst II + Burst III + Burst III + Burst III. The two Burst III units are usually the main damage carries; the leftover Burst I/II slots buff, heal, or shield them. This isn't a hard rule — Full Burst only needs an unbroken I → II → III chain — but it's the most efficient way to fill all 5 slots if you don't know where to start.

How much investment is enough?

The NIKKE community usually splits how much investment (skills, gear, dupes) a unit needs into 4 tiers, low to high: useful — already helps even before much investment; notable — moderate investment, starts pulling its rated weight; required — the minimum needed to hit the power level this list ranks it at; ideal — near-max investment, only worth it once resources are spare. A practical rule: get the whole team to required first, then spend leftover resources pushing your two main carries to ideal — don't max one unit to ideal while the rest of the team is still below required.

Ranking by game mode

A combined table hides the truth: the same Nikke can be mandatory in Solo Raid yet useless in Tribe Tower.

S S - mandatory pick for this mode A A - performs well in elemental-advantage raids, main team slot B B - usable in a secondary team (team 2-3) C C - pushed out by the current meta, still usable occasionally - - not usable in this mode

What are the ranking criteria?

PvE campaign values combat-power deficit penalty resistance first, then clear speed, then survivability. PvE boss values core-hit accuracy first, then elemental-advantage damage, then part-break capability. PvP values burst charge speed first, then survival skills, then opening burst damage. Burst charge speed depends on weapon type: fastest are RL and SG, medium are SR and AR, slowest are SMG and MG. Attack buffs are rated higher than critical-hit buffs at the same percentage value. If the attacking side's combat power is below 84.6% of the defending side's (a gap over 15.4%), the team takes a heavy penalty, sharply reducing ATK, DEF and HP.
