Unlock requirements

Unlocks at Trailblaze Level 40 AND after clearing two prerequisite quests, «Trial of Equilibrium: Part Three» + «A Dragon Gallant, Its Ocean Distant», which lead into the gating quest «Youci's Clever Decor» — finishing that quest is what actually opens Pure Fiction.

How it plays & how scoring works

Pure Fiction

Pure Fiction contains a series of challenging stages. In this mode, you need to challenge the stages and earn the required number of points to pass the challenge and get splendid rewards. In addition, you will get bonus rewards by achieving specific targets. The difficulty and rewards of Pure Fiction stages are not affected by your Equilibrium Level.

Stages and rewards in Pure Fiction are regularly updated.

You will be cut off from the outside world when entering the Pure Fiction, with the following actions temporarily disabled:

In Pure Fiction, when ally characters defeat enemy targets, they regenerate only 50% of the Energy that they would normally do in regular battles.

Changing team setup Changing, leveling up, or ascending Light Cones and Relics Upgrading or ascending characters Using Consumables in your Inventory

Whimsicality

Each Pure Fiction phase has its unique rules, resulting in various stage effects. The effects only take effect in battle during its corresponding phase.

Cacophony

Various buffs are provided at the beginning of each Pure Fiction event.

You can select one of the buffs for each team before challenging any stage in the Pure Fiction.

Points

In this mode, enemies will appear for a limited number of Cycles. Dealing damage and defeating enemies earn you points.

Each stage contains two battles, namely Node 1 and Node 2. Your final points are the total points earned in both battles, and your highest points will be updated based on the points earned in the current challenge.

Quick Unlock

All stages in Pure Fiction that have been cleared with a 3-star rating are recorded. When a new event starts, all the cleared stages and their prerequisite stages will be immediately unlocked.

After Quick Unlock takes effect, you can directly challenge the last recorded stage that you passed with 3-stars. Once you have passed that stage with a 3-star rating, all the previous stages will be immediately cleared with a 3-star rating, and all rewards from those stages will be delivered to you.

Currently, only the first 3 stages can be quickly unlocked in this way.

Starward Mode

Clear Stage 3 of Pure Fiction to automatically unlock Starward Mode, and Stage 4 of Starward Mode will be unlocked.

Clearing Stage 4 of Starward Mode requires challenging 3 Nodes, and 3-star challenge records are shared with Stage 4 of the Regular Mode. Clear Stage 4 of Starward Mode and obtain 99,000 points to obtain the Prismatic Star and additional new rewards. Accumulate 12 stars and the Prismatic Star to also obtain this period's Pure Fiction Limited-Time Clearance Medal. You can switch back to Regular Mode at any time to challenge Stage 4 of the regular Pure Fiction and obtain the original rewards.

Refresh cycle

The entire floor/enemy/buff set changes every 6 weeks, per the official studio announcement. There is no 2-week sub-cycle like Memory of Chaos — each version releases exactly one new Pure Fiction season, not split into sub-waves.

What makes it different

4 floors, also two nodes each, but fundamentally different from Memory of Chaos: enemies don't just sit and wait to be killed — they respawn continuously in waves for the battle's duration, rewarding wide-area damage that clears faster than the respawn rate. Win/loss isn't judged by 'wipe every enemy' but by an accumulated SCORE across the whole Cycle allowance, with both nodes' scores added together against that floor's three star thresholds. There's a build-up buff mechanic (filling a meter triggers a stronger buff), meaning a longer battle can actually pay off more than an instant clear — the opposite of Memory of Chaos's 'faster is always better' logic.

This list is taken directly from the official game data, ordered by the sequence in the source file — not necessarily real-world release order, since the data has no start/end date per season. Some VERY OLD seasons (from before the Equilibrium Level system unified all difficulty tiers) shared the same name across multiple season codes — duplicate-named rows have been merged down to one row per distinct season name. The newest season, not yet publicly named by the studio, has been excluded from the list to avoid guessing.

Common mistakes

  • Killing enemies one at a time instead of stacking AoE damage — since non-Boss enemies keep respawning, a team with wide AoE damage (Erudition) usually scores more than a single-target team.
  • Picking a Cacophony buff that doesn't fit your team — it's chosen once at the start of the season, so picking the wrong one (e.g. a buff for an element your team doesn't use) wastes it for the whole season.
  • Not realizing scores don't stack across runs — you need your highest score from a SINGLE run, not points added up from multiple separate attempts.

Frequently asked questions

How does scoring work in Pure Fiction?

Each floor has 2 battles (Node 1 and Node 2); non-Boss enemies keep respawning after being defeated, and each kill chips away at that battle's Boss HP — both dealing damage and defeating enemies earn points, the two battles' points combine into the floor's final score, and your highest-ever score is what's recorded.

How do you pick the Cacophony buff?

At the start of every Pure Fiction season, you choose one of several random buffs for your whole team before challenging any stage that season — the buff applies for the entire season and can't be changed between stages.

What is Starward Mode in Pure Fiction?

It unlocks after clearing Stage 3 of the regular mode, and is a harder version of Stage 4 that shares its 3-star clear record with regular Stage 4 — clearing it and hitting the required score grants a bonus Prismatic Star; it's optional, not required for the base rewards.
