How to redeem (3 steps)
Click "Auto-fill" on any code — the official redemption page opens with the code pre-entered.
Log in with your HoYoverse account and pick the server you play on.
Hit Redeem — rewards arrive in your in-game MAILBOX; open the mail to claim.
Method 2 — redeem inside the game (no website needed)
On the main screen press Esc (PC) or the menu icon, then open "More".
Choose "Redemption Code" — the gift-box icon.
Paste the code into the box and hit "Redeem".
Open your in-game Mail — the rewards are waiting there.
iPhone/iPad note: the iOS build has NO in-game code box — use the "Auto-fill" web button above instead. Requirement: play through the opening chapter to unlock code redemption and the mailbox — before that, every code will error out.
New codes drop on the game's official channels: HoYoLAB, Facebook, Discord and the News page — especially the version livestream. This page scans those sources every 6 hours, so bookmarking it means you never miss a code.
Why a code fails — 5 real reasons, check in order
- The code has expired: HoYoverse always sets an expiry for event codes (usually 1-2 weeks); anything in the 'Expired codes' list below can no longer be redeemed — it's not a mistake on your end.
- Wrong server selected: a code must be redeemed on the exact server your account is on (Americas/Europe/Asia/TW,HK,MO) — picking the wrong server on the web form errors out even with a valid code.
- Already redeemed: each code can only be claimed once per account; trying again always errors even while the code is still valid for other players.
- Mailbox not unlocked yet: a very new account (hasn't cleared the early mission that unlocks the in-game mailbox) may receive the reward via the web form but won't see it in the mailbox until far enough into Chapter 1.
- Typo on look-alike characters: codes are case-sensitive and often mix easily confused characters (0/O, 1/I) — use the auto-fill button or copy-paste instead of typing by hand.
Where codes come from, and how often new ones drop
Codes mainly drop on 2 occasions: the livestream before every major version (usually 3 codes, read out live) and maintenance/compensation announcements after server incidents or extended maintenance. Cross-referencing 204 character/Light Cone banner phases we've tracked (our own data), the average gap between banner phases is 21 days (42 of 58 measured gaps were exactly 21 days) — each major version runs 2 banner phases on that cadence, and new codes typically show up around the start of each phase. Track the version calendar so you don't miss one.
Some codes are never announced by the publisher at all — they're uncovered by the community by solving in-game riddles or hidden clues (usually tied to special events). This kind of code typically has no officially announced expiry date, so as long as one still appears in the "Active codes" list above, it's still redeemable.

Where do I enter codes in-game?
In-game: Menu (phone icon) → profile (… icon) → Redemption Code. Easier: use the "Auto-fill" button on this page — no menu digging.
How long do codes last?
Livestream codes usually expire within 1–2 days; event codes last longer. Redeem immediately. STARRAILGIFT never expires for new accounts.
Why does a code say it cannot be used?
Six common causes: (1) the code expired; (2) your account already used it (same-reward codes count as one); (3) wrong server/character picked on the web page; (4) a typo or stray space — use the Copy button; (5) your level is too low to unlock redemption; (6) your game client isn't updated.
Why does one code work but another fails at the same time?
Most likely the failing one was already redeemed (one claim per account) or has expired while the other hasn't — each code's status is independent and has nothing to do with your account being broken.
If I redeem on the website, do I get the reward instantly in-game?
Yes, rewards go straight to your in-game Mailbox, no re-login needed; a very new account may need to clear the early story first before the mailbox becomes visible.
Is STARRAILGIFT always redeemable?
It's a long-running fixed code HoYoverse maintains (no published expiry like typical event codes), but it can still be discontinued at any time — always check its current status before assuming it failed.
Is redeeming on the website or typing it in-game more convenient?
The website is handy for redeeming several codes at once (auto-fill links, no need to open the game) and avoids typos thanks to the auto-fill button. Typing in-game is handy mid-session without switching to a browser — but a phone's on-screen keyboard makes look-alike characters easier to mistype than the web form. Both methods grant the same reward; the only difference is the steps.
What are HSR's server regions?
4 servers: Americas, Europe, Asia, and TW/HK/MO (Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau) — pick the exact one shown in your account info on the game's login screen before redeeming on the website; picking the wrong server is the single most common cause of an 'invalid code' error.
