A Real Nightmare
Grandma and Caleb died in the explosion. The official investigation report concludes there's no evidence of an intentional detonation, no remnants of any explosive device found, and neither victim had known disputes or financial conflicts with anyone — all pointing to an accident caused by Metaflux fluctuation. But the Main Character refuses to believe it was just an accident. Despite still being weak from her own surgery, she throws herself into searching for the truth, poring over report after report right at work. Tara finds her, worried, and invites her out to eat; meanwhile, Jenna receives a newly submitted Protocore analysis report — which turns out to have been sent by the Main Character herself. This chapter portrays the Main Character's grief and stubborn resolve in the face of loss, unlocks the 'Concern' text message along with a Spacepedia note on Greyson (Zayne's assistant), continues directly from the tragedy in 04-03, and lays the groundwork for the journey toward regaining balance that runs through the rest of the chapter.
