The Resonance plan succeeds: the Main Character and the mysterious stranger wipe out the entire Luminivore swarm, though every Protocore is destroyed in the process. Right after, he finally introduces himself as Xavier, then asks the Main Character to keep his presence here a secret, promising to explain next time they meet. When Tara calls to say she's on her way, the Main Character turns to answer — and when she looks back, Xavier has vanished without a trace, leaving her full of questions about his strange behavior. This is a key gating chapter: it formally introduces Xavier as the first companion character and unlocks a wave of core game systems — Phone messaging, Wish, Memories, Agenda, the Shop, and a batch of Spacepedia entries. It closes the 'mysterious stranger' thread running from 01-02 through 01-04, and sets the stage for the following social chapters (UNICORNS, Ripples, Doctor, Rainfall Curtain), where the other companions are introduced one by one.
