Another Predicament
The Main Character has the same recurring nightmare tied to the Chronorift Catastrophe: a rusty-red sky, cries of 'monsters,' and a blinking green moon that seems to be watching her — a childhood memory linked to the event that left her with a Protocore fragment in her heart. After sending the modified Protocore to Data Analysis the night before and getting only a few hours of sleep, she's woken by an urgent squad call. At the UNICORNS lobby, she finds Xavier surrounded by journalists grilling him about why he became a Hunter and public complaints about Hunters damaging property; he deflects, then comically begs the Main Character for help ('Help me' — 'Beg me'), using the excuse that his mission partner is waiting to escape the reporters. The two then join a mission debrief with Jenna. This chapter highlights Xavier's funnier, media-shy side while reiterating that the nightmare/'eye' mystery from 01-09 remains unresolved, following on from 03-08 and leading directly into the important meeting in 03-10.
