The +16% CRIT DMG is nice, but the 4-piece requires being targeted by allies' abilities to build 2 stacks of 'Help' and then using an Ultimate just to gain 48% ATK for a single turn, a fiddly setup with a very short payoff that only suits characters who are frequently buffed/supported by teammates.

2-piece or 4-piece?

Based on current data, 2 pieces are enough — no character is recorded as needing the full 4-piece bonus of this set, so you can mix it with another set on the remaining slots.

What main stat to run, by role

Getting the main stat on the right slot is the baseline — substats aimed the right direction decide your real power. The table below is a default framework by role, useful for a quick lookup before you know a specific character's kit.
BodyFeetPlanar SphereLink RopeSub-stat priority
Main DPSCRIT Rate or CRIT DMGATK% or SPDthe character's own Elemental DMG BoostATK% (or Break Effect for a break-focused kit)CRIT comes first — aim for roughly a 1:2 ratio of CRIT Rate to CRIT DMG — then ATK%, then SPD.
HealerHP% or Outgoing Healing BoostHP%HP%Energy Regeneration Rate or HP%HP% first, then SPD — healing output scales off the target's Max HP.
Tank / ShielderDEF% or Effect Hit RateDEF% or SPDDEF%DEF% or Energy Regeneration RateDEF% first, then Effect Hit Rate, then SPD.
SupportNo safe default — depends on the character's kit, check that character's pageSPD, almost always correctNo safe default — depends on the character's kit, check that character's pageEnergy Regeneration RateSPD first; add Effect Hit Rate if the character applies debuffs.

This is a default framework, not a hard rule. Some characters break from it because of their own kit — for example a support that needs CRIT DMG or Break Effect instead of Energy Regeneration Rate. Always check that character's page before locking in a set.

Basic rules you need before picking Relics

  • Head always rolls flat HP, Hands always roll flat ATK — no need to check the main stat on these two, just look at the substats.
  • Only Feet can roll SPD as a main stat; only the Link Rope can roll Energy Regeneration Rate as a main stat.
  • A substat never duplicates that piece's own main stat, and the four substats never duplicate each other.
  • Each piece caps at 4 substats. Every +3 upgrade grants one roll — either unlocking a new substat line or boosting an existing one at random.
  • Enhancement cap by rarity: 2-star +6, 3-star +9, 4-star +12, 5-star +15. Starting substat count: 3-star 1–2 lines, 4-star 2–3 lines, 5-star 3–4 lines.
  • The main stat is NOT random — at the level cap it's always the exact same fixed number. Only substats roll randomly.
  • Quick filter trick: enhance to +9 and you already see enough substat quality to decide keep-or-salvage — don't burn all your resources to +15 before judging.

Should you keep or salvage this piece?

  • Wrong main stat for the slot (e.g. an HP% Sphere on a Lightning DPS) → salvage it right away, don't get attached.
  • Right main stat but the 4 substats don't have even one line of CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG / SPD (for a DPS role) → low value, salvage first.
  • Right main stat plus at least 2 substats you actually need from the start → enhance to +9 and reassess — this piece is worth investing in.

Where can you get Relics?

Relics unlock during the Belobog story arc. To target the exact set and slot you need instead of farming blind, use the Omni-Synthesizer: it runs on Relic Remains, which you get by salvaging Relics you don't use. The machine unlocks from Equilibrium Level 3 onward.

Captain's Navigator HatHead

A wide-brimmed sun hat with a pearlescent sheen. Sailors racing across the seas use it to shield themselves from Aquila's scorching sun.

Among the coastal reefs, the wreckage of a trireme lay stranded like a beached whale — It was once a warship campaigning against the sea sirens. The waves returned the ship to shore, but left its demised crew behind in the depths of the sea.

"O warrior of Phagousa, whoever you are, I beg you to stand and defend Skiana!" The king's desperate plea met only silence, for to stand against the sea sirens only meant becoming another lifeless body adrift on the waves.

"Give me an unbreakable ship and a crew of fifty, and I will slay the wicked sea siren!" A young captain, wearing a wide-brimmed sun hat, stepped forward from the crowded masses. The pearlescent sheen of his hat cast a shimmering rainbow over the pale, fearful faces around him. His arrival was like the dawn over the sea, and in an instant, the horizon had already begun to lighten.

"I will build you the finest ship in the world!" The craftsmen, drawn in by the young captain's radiance, pledged their skills. The great ship's timber was impervious to decay, ensuring it would never rot upon the sea. At its bow, a plank hewn from Cerces's giant tree was affixed, imbued with the power of prophecy.

"Go forth, disciple of the Sages, chosen hero of the gods, tame the madness of Phagousa." Three days later, the fully crewed warship set sail from Skiana.
Captain's Lightcatcher AstrolabeHands

A nautical compass that captures the guidance of starlight. Even when adrift in the boundless darkness of the sea, the stars will always point the way forward.

Dark clouds, heavy like lead and iron, pressed down upon the mast. Amid the raging storm, the ship was like a drifting water lily, and even the deck crafted from the sacred tree trembled violently against the towering waves.

"Even the once-tranquil seas, where the waves were calm and the winds gentle all year round, have now been tainted by the siren's wild and violent nature." The young captain stood atop the forecastle tower, his brows tightly furrowed as he gazed at the dense, dark storm clouds ahead... yet the astrolabe on his wrist remained unresponsive.

A bolt of lightning struck down, snapping the main sail's rigging with a resounding crack. The crew fell into chaos, shouting and scrambling. The young captain bellowed, restoring order. He commanded the rowers to pull in unison, their strength guided by precise orders. The helmsman responded swiftly, steering the ship away from the towering waves that loomed like mountains. They fought against Phagousa's fury, enduring until Aquila's guiding starlight would pierce the storm. Suddenly, the captain raised his arm high, his voice cutting through the storm. The nautical compass on his wrist shimmered with scattered fragments of starlight—

"Follow that light, everyone! We're about to break out of the storm!"

The sailors rallied their spirits, singing a sea shanty in unison. The ship, like a sharpened blade, cleaved through the waves, charging toward the dawn.

"Soon, we will set her free from shackles. Look ahead, prepare! Set sail!"
Captain's Wind MantleBody

The sailing cloak billowed like a great sail. If the strong winds will not aid me, then I shall become the wind itself.

A bronze ballista bolt, as tall as a man, tore through the sea mist wrapped in flames, only to shatter into dust the moment it neared the siren's scaled armor. The pale blue tentacles coiled tightly around sailors' waists, and even when severed, they writhed across the deck, gnawing at the terrified crew.

"The crewmate's limbs thrashed in the air, crying out my name. That was the most terrifying sight of my seafaring career." The captain's voice trembled between his lips and teeth. He was not lying.

The colossal sea siren surfaced, its gnarled tentacles coiling tightly around the ship. Its back loomed like a drifting island. The first mate drove a searing iron spear into its gaping maw, lined with a thousand razor-sharp teeth. A spray of foul black blood splattered across the deck, darkening the planks. The crew narrowly escaped a fatal attack, but as the captain turned back, he saw the stern tower crushed beneath a massive tentacle, shattered as easily as Nikador's Lance of Fury cracking open a walnut shell. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Charge forward or retreat? All eyes turned to the captain—

"Hard to port! Rowers, full speed! Unfurl all sails, prepare the ram for impact!"

The captain's cloak billowed in the roaring wind, and the crew steeled themselves, ready to face death. Steel clashed against scales, the keel shattered, and the sea siren let out a wailing cry. Its once-mighty form, now drained of its former power, slowly sank into the depths of the sea.
Captain's Tidal BootsFeet

Shattered waves bloomed beneath the captain's boots. Even if he never returned, the tides would carry back his blessing.

On an unknown sandy shore, the young captain lay on his back, gazing at the sky. The setting sun cast a golden glow over the shattered coastline... Within this radiant haze, the distant land of Skiana seemed almost within reach, but he knew this was the final moment of his life.

"...We have tamed the madness of Phagousa." The sea siren had long retreated into the deeper waters, unlikely to threaten the coast again for a hundred years.

The plank, hewn from Cerces's giant tree, asked the captain for his final words. It would ride the waves back to the distant land of Skiana, carrying the tale of the hero's journey and inspiring more young souls to set sail beyond the shore. The captain gazed at his severed lower half... those were the boots his wise mentor had given him, the ones that had carried him across countless city-states. But now, his long voyage would end here.

"Tell them... I still have a Sea of Souls left to conquer. My homeland, do not grieve for me."

Year after year, the sea breeze brushed against the walls of Skiana. The tale of the sea siren became a whispered lullaby from mothers to their children... And those sailors who had narrowly escaped the cursed sea still waited for their captain to ride the waves home.

How to read this relic set page

Cavern Relics have 4 pieces: Head and Hand always carry fixed flat stats (HP and ATK), so only Body and Feet have a random main-stat you actually choose. The 2-piece effect unlocks with 2 out of 4 pieces from the same set; the 4-piece effect is stronger but needs all 4 and usually has its own trigger condition — read the exact text above before committing. Planar Ornaments only have 2 pieces (Planar Sphere + Link Rope) and only ever have one 2-piece effect, there is no 4-piece version.

The two types also differ in where you get them: Cavern Relics drop from the Cavern of Corrosion and cost Trailblaze Power per run; Planar Ornaments come from the Simulated Universe or Divergent Universe, which do NOT cost Trailblaze Power — you trade for them with items or completion rewards instead. A full loadout usually combines one 4-piece Cavern set (or two different Cavern sets at 2 pieces each) with one 2-piece Planar set — go 4-piece when that set gives a large, reliable damage buff, and mix 2+2 when you need to stack several smaller stats (e.g. ATK% from one set plus Elemental DMG% from another).

The "who should use this" list is pulled from cross-sourced build consensus and updates automatically as the meta shifts, it is not hand-picked. See the full set table on the Relics page, or check terms in the HSR Glossary.
