Quick verdict

Very much worth building and pulling: she's still one of the strongest Anomaly DPS around, easy and smooth to play. Her strengths are high uptime and reliable Assault burst; her weaknesses are needing to hit an AP threshold before she fully takes off, and a fair reliance on an enabler (Seth) to stay safe during long on-field stretches.

Stat targets

Level 60 targets : ATK 2,300–2,800+ / HP 9,000–10,000+ / DEF 800+ / Anomaly Proficiency 375–420+ IN COMBAT / Anomaly Mastery 192+. Key AP thresholds: above 120 AP she starts converting +2 ATK per point; at 375 AP her Assault reaches 100% Crit Rate; at 420 AP she caps the +600 ATK bonus in Passion. No need to farm CRIT — Jane's crit comes from AP. Discs: 4 Anomaly Proficiency · 5 PEN Ratio% > Physical DMG% > ATK% · 6 Anomaly Mastery. Substats: Anomaly Proficiency > ATK% > PEN = ATK.

Rotation & combos

1) OPENER: use Basic attacks and Perfect Dodge / Defensive Assist to fill Passion Stream → enter Passion (bar turns red). 2) IN PASSION: hold Basic to release Salchow Jump (an invulnerable spin, heavy anomaly, and it RESTORES Passion instead of consuming it). 3) Prioritize Perfect Dodges to land Dodge Counters — the highest daze and anomaly per second, and they restore Passion. 4) STUN WINDOW: use Chain Attack / Ultimate → Jane instantly enters Passion at full value, refreshing her Salchow charge → chain multiple Salchows back-to-back for burst. 5) Weave in EX Special when available (part of her best combos). 6) LOOP: keep Passion up and spam Assault; with a second Anomaly agent, trigger Disorder in between.

Pros
  • Her anomaly can CRIT — a unique mechanic no other Anomaly had at release; and the crit scales straight from Anomaly Proficiency, so you never farm CRIT stats.
  • Incredible mobility with 3 dashes; Perfect Dodge and Defensive Assist both dodge and refill Passion, making her very hard to hit and safe on-field.
  • High uptime, strong both inside and outside burst windows; works as a sole DPS or in Disorder teams, giving great team-building flexibility.
  • Revitalized by the new Anomaly roster (Alice, Vivian, Yuzuha) — her damage ceiling jumps sharply with the right partners despite being an early-release Agent.
Cons
  • Very AP-hungry: needs ~375–420 Anomaly Proficiency to unlock full scaling (100% crit + ATK cap). Below that she loses a large chunk of damage — demanding disc RNG and farming.
  • Reliant on player skill and field time: her power hinges on consistent Perfect Dodges / Dodge Counters; mobile enemies can make her Salchow combos miss hits.
  • Not very flexible vs endgame buffs: if a mode's buffs (Shiyu/DA) don't favor Physical/Anomaly, Jane struggles more than many other characters.

Endgame mode fit

Shiyu Defense

Excellent in Shiyu Defense: rated T1 Anomaly DPS. Very strong single-target with Vivian (highest Assault scaling via Abloom, and she feeds Jane field time) + Yuzuha/Nicole; or the Alice + Jane + Nicole comp at M2+ that strongest in the game. Constant Assault crits pile heavy burst in the stun window.

Deadly Assault

Also strong in Deadly Assault: shines with Physical Disorder teams (Alice) or Ice/Fire-Physical Disorder (Burnice) to pile anomaly on multiple high-HP foes, with high uptime for steady output. Note: if the DA rotation's buffs don't favor Physical/Anomaly, her score dips versus buff-aligned carries.

If any squad member triggers Assault on an enemy in the Gnawed state and causes the Flinch effect, the Flinch effect duration is extended by 5s, and Assault DMG has a chance to trigger a critical hit, with a base CRIT Rate of 20% and CRIT DMG of 50%. Each point of Jane's Anomaly Proficiency further increases this CRIT Rate by 0.1%.

Additional Ability: Sore Spot

When Jane's attack hits an enemy in the Gnawed state, or when any squad member triggers Assault on an enemy in the Gnawed state, 15% of the enemy's DEF is ignored. Additionally, when Assault DMG triggers a critical hit, the CRIT DMG dealt is increased by an additional 50%. Gaze into the abyss, and it gazes back. That's only the first step. "Then you must approach, enter, and understand it. This is the second step." "The final step... is to resist becoming it."

M3 Anonymity Low value

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2 Anonymity – that means to become anyone. Your favorite person, perhaps~ "Or maybe, your worst fear?"

M4 Adapt and Thrive Low value

When any squad member triggers the Assault or Disorder effects, all squad members' Attribute Anomaly DMG is increased by 18%, lasting 15s. "Whether you're a hunter or the hunted usually depends on your perspective. However, I favor a more straightforward assessment–" "The Loser is the prey."

M5 Compulsive Hoarder Low value

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv.+2 Jane's room is filled with all sorts of things, especially fast food. "Isn’t it nice here? There's food within reach everywhere~"

M6 Shady Technique Worth it

While in the Passion state, Jane's CRIT Rate increases by 20%, and CRIT DMG by 40%. After any squad member inflicts Assault, Jane instantly enters the Passion state, and gains max Passion Stream. When Assault triggers a critical hit, Jane performs an additional attack on the target, dealing Physical DMG equal to 1600% of her Anomaly Proficiency. On the streets, the means don't matter, only the outcome. "Seeing the darkest desires reveals the most crucial weaknesses."

Background & Lore

Jane, a criminal behavior specialist, has had a "colorful" career as a consultant with Public Security over the years. She is an expert in disguise, infiltration, and other investigative work. She has a bad habit of trolling others and sometimes plays harmless pranks. She's a skilled mimic, able to change her appearance and demeanor at will, making people wonder what the "real" Jane is like. Jane has a wealth of life experience and can seamlessly blend into any environment, as though she has dabbled in everything there is to do. However, if you ask her for any further details, she’ll give you a different story every time. Who knows which, if any, are true. Note 1: Jane does not know our true identity. Do not reveal this to her under any circumstances. Note 2: Despite "Jane Doe" being an obvious alias, we haven’t found any information about her real or former name. This is not my problem. My guess is that her true identity has been completely erased due to her special status. Let me reiterate: This is not my problem. Increase Trust to Close to unlock more Jane is a total night owl. She loves working the night shift and is most alive after dark. She's also a bit of a hoarder, constantly filling her home with stuff (usually a bunch of junk food). The pouch at her waist might look like a makeup bag, but it's actually her toolkit, packed with all the "essentials" for her work. Belle Fairy, you don't have to reiterate anything. We've all come to terms with Jane's name being Jane. Wise I mean, it's far from the worst name we've seen…

More unlocks as Trust with this character increases in-game.

How to read this build page

Every Agent build page has 4 parts: a stat table by level, W-Engine/Drive Disc suggestions, a Mindscape roadmap, and recommended teams. Read them in that order — stats tell you "what you need", gear tells you "where to get it", Mindscape tells you "is it worth pulling", teams tell you "who to pair with". The section below explains how to read each part, and it applies the same way to every character on the site.

How to read the stat table and level

The stat table shows values at the ascension breakpoints (usually the final one, e.g. Lv60) — these are BASE stats with no gear added, useful for comparing Agents or checking whether you've ascended far enough. CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG are shown separately because they set the damage ceiling once Drive Disc substats stack on top. If your real stats are lower than the table, you likely haven't fully ascended or leveled yet — it's not a build mistake.

Why the W-Engine and Drive Disc picks make sense

Most Agents have a "signature" W-Engine designed for their exact role, plus a few cheaper standard-banner substitutes. Missing the signature isn't a dead end — most Agents keep most of their power with a well-matched substitute, just short by some amount of total damage.

  • Drive Disc sets (2pc + 4pc) are picked for the set effect that fits that Agent's playstyle (mono-element, Anomaly, stun, and so on).
  • Substats follow a priority that changes by role: Attack-type Agents usually chase CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG before ATK%; Anomaly-type Agents add Anomaly Proficiency to that mix; Stun/Support roles often value survivability or energy stats over pure CRIT.

These weights differ per character — follow the exact substat priority table above rather than applying one formula to every role.

Is Mindscape worth chasing

General rule: M0 (no duplicates) already clears the game's hardest content, even for S-rank Agents. Mindscape is a duplicate-fueled upgrade system, and each level costs more resources for a smaller power gain. For most Agents, the best value stop is usually M1–M2 (where some key effects unlock), while M6 is almost always for players chasing the absolute ceiling, not a requirement. Check the Mindscape section in the table above for that specific Agent's numbers.

Skill priority by role

There's no single order for every Agent, but the general pattern by role is:

  • Attack: level the main damage skill first (Basic or Special Attack depending on kit), Dash/Dodge last.
  • Stun: prioritize whichever skill builds Daze/Stun fastest, since the stun window is where the whole team dumps damage.
  • Support: prioritize buff or energy-generating skills over personal damage — this role's value comes from lifting the whole team.
  • Anomaly: prioritize the skill that stacks anomaly buildup, since most of the damage comes from the triggered effect, not the direct hit.

Always level the Core Skill steadily alongside the rest — it's a baseline stat that affects the whole rotation, not just one move.

Where to dig deeper

This section only teaches you how to read the page — for deeper comparisons, use the dedicated tools:

  • Tier list to see where this Agent stands against the full roster.
  • Teams for full in-game comps, including Bangboo and rotation order.
  • Disc score to check how your current gear scores against the benchmark.

Jane FAQ

What is the best W-Engine for Jane?

Jane performs best with Sharpened Stinger. See alternatives and required stats in the Gear section above.

Is Jane worth pulling?

Very much worth building and pulling: she's still one of the strongest Anomaly DPS around, easy and smooth to play. Her strengths are high uptime and reliable Assault burst; her weaknesses are needing to hit an AP threshold before she fully takes off, and a fair reliance on an enabler (Seth) to stay safe during long on-field stretches.

What is the best team for Jane?

Jane works best in the Mono Physical team. Full members and rotation are in the Teams section.

Who voices Jane in Zenless Zone Zero?

Jane (faction Criminal Investigation Special Response Team, birthday Feb 16) is voiced according to the official credits published on the HoYoverse Wiki. See the full English/Japanese/Korean/Chinese voice actor list in the "Voice Actors & Character Info" block above — this data is pulled directly from the official wiki, not guessed.

Which Mindscape of Jane is worth investing in?

Jane has 6 Mindscape tiers (M1-M6), each unlocking its own effect detailed in the "Mindscape" block above (official wording). Mindscapes cost Mindscape Cinema currency farmed from limited banners, so weigh it against your budget — F2P players usually stop at M0-M1 and prioritize W-Engine and Drive Discs before pushing Mindscape higher.

How much Denny and how many materials to level Jane to Lv60?

Leveling Jane to max Lv60 (ascension + basic skills to 12 + core skill A→F) costs roughly 1,706,000 Denny, plus role-specific ascension materials, attribute-specific skill chips, high-dimensional data, and weekly boss drops — see the full list with exact quantities in the "Materials Needed" block above, sourced from the game's official leveling tables.
