Mona

Hydro Catalyst Tier A Sub-DPS
Reflects patch 6.7 (2026-07-06) — the meta store re-ranks every patch, never edited by hand.
Is Mona worth building?

Mona is a hugely rewarding off-field damage amplifier: a single Burst stamps the Omen that magnifies every hit your team lands, and she applies clean Hydro for Freeze and Vaporize teams. What she needs most is enough Energy Recharge to Burst every rotation, then CRIT if you want her to chip in personal damage. Don't sweat the weapon: the 4-star Widsith rivals many 5-stars, and a 4pc Emblem of Severed Fate both fits her kit and farms easily. A lightweight support that lifts the whole team.

Mona's talents

Ripple of Fate
Normal Attack
Performs up to 4 water splash attacks that deal Hydro DMG.

Charged Attack
Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to deal AoE Hydro DMG after a short casting time.

Plunging Attack
Gathering the might of Hydro, Mona plunges towards the ground from mid-air, damaging all opponents in her path. Deals AoE Hydro DMG upon impact with the ground.
Mirror Reflection of Doom
Creates an illusory Phantom of Fate from coalesced waterspouts.

Phantom
Has the following special properties:
·Continuously taunts nearby opponents, attracting their fire.
·Continuously deals Hydro DMG to nearby opponents.
·When its duration expires, the Phantom explodes, dealing AoE Hydro DMG.

Hold
Utilizes water currents to move backwards swiftly before conjuring a Phantom.

Only one Phantom created by Mirror Reflection of Doom can exist at any time.

Skilled astrologers have always dreamed of using a phantom facsimile of themselves to ward off imminent ill fate, but Mona must be the first to make such a mockery of it in all of Teyvat.
Illusory Torrent
Alternate Sprint
Mona cloaks herself within the water's flow, consuming Stamina to move rapidly.

When under the effect of Illusory Torrent, Mona can move at high speed on water.
Applies the Wet status to nearby opponents when she reappears.

This is something that Mona can do, but her teacher cannot. Well, but it's not as if her teacher would pursue any matter concerning Hydro Visions anyway...
Stellaris Phantasm
Mona summons the sparkling waves and creates a reflection of the starry sky, applying the Illusory Bubble status to opponents in a large AoE.

Illusory Bubble
Traps opponents inside a pocket of destiny and also makes them Wet. Renders weaker opponents immobile.
When an opponent affected by Illusory Bubble sustains DMG, it has the following effects:
·Applies an Omen to the opponent, which gives a DMG Bonus, also increasing the DMG of the attack that causes it.
·Removes the Illusory Bubble, dealing Hydro DMG in the process.

Omen
During its duration, increases DMG taken by opponents.

It was from the time that gods first traced the lights in the heavens with their eyes that the notion of "fate" was born.
"Come 'n' Get Me, Hag!"
After she has used Illusory Torrent for 2s, if there are any opponents nearby, Mona will automatically create a Phantom.
A Phantom created in this manner lasts for 2s, and its explosion DMG is equal to 50% of Mirror Reflection of Doom.
Waterborne Destiny
Increases Mona's Hydro DMG Bonus by a degree equivalent to 20% of her Energy Recharge rate.
Principium of Astrology
When Mona crafts Weapon Ascension Materials, she has a 25% chance to refund a portion of the crafting materials used.
Witch's Eve Rite: Genesis of Starsigns
After completing Witch's Homework: Of Untested Insight, Mona will become a Hexerei character. When the party includes at least 2 Hexerei characters, you will gain the Hexerei: Secret Rite effect, which enhances Hexerei characters.

Hexerei: Secret Rite
When Mona's Normal Attacks or Charged Attacks hit an opponent, she gains 1 stack of Astral Glow of Mercury, for 8s. Max 3 stacks. This effect can grant at most one stack every 0.1s. When other party members trigger a Vaporize reaction on an enemy, all Astral Glow of Mercury stacks are consumed. Each stack consumed increases the damage of that Vaporize reaction by 5%.
Additionally, when Mona's Normal Attacks or Charged Attacks hit an opponent, the enemy's Omen duration is extended by 2s. This effect can trigger at most once every 0.5s, and can extend the Omen by up to 8s through this method.

Combat Rotation

  1. Open with E "Mirror Reflection of Doom" to summon the Phantom, tagging enemies with Hydro and drawing aggro (12s CD).
  2. Fire off a Charged Attack for extra AoE Hydro application before swapping off.
  3. Switch to the main DPS and hit the tagged enemies to trigger elemental reactions (Vaporize/Freeze/Electro-Charged).
  4. Once enemies are grouped and Mona has 60 energy, unleash Q "Stellaris Phantasm" for the Illusory Bubble plus Omen status (15s CD).
  5. During the 4s Omen window, keep the main DPS attacking non-stop to cash in the full damage amplification.
  6. Use the 8s Illusory Bubble duration to keep enemies from slipping out of the amplified zone.
  7. Retreat Mona off-field to let E's 12s CD tick down, prioritizing Energy Recharge gear to hit 60 energy every rotation.

Voice Lines & Comments

Official HoYoverse Fetter voice-lines — the character introducing themselves, commenting on allies, sharing likes and their birthday.

Birthday

Happy Birthday. Here's my gift to you — it's a bag containing some words of advice that may help you through tough patches. ...No, don't open it yet. During the year ahead, this bag will open itself when the right time comes.

Self-Introduction

Hello

I am Astrologist Mona Megistus, meaning "The Great Astrologist Mona." If it is divination you seek from me, then I ask you respect my name by learning it wholly, here and now.

About Mona

The work of the astrologer is to show people what fate has in store for them, and that's exactly what I do. There will always be those, however, who are unable to accept what they are told.

More About Mona: I

You want to chat... for fun? Oh... I don't usually have spare time for such activities, especially when I have so many columns left to write... Then again, since it's you, it might be worth it. Hehe, a change of pace once in a while isn't such a bad thing.

More About Mona: II

Income? From astrology...? You can't use... things like Mora to determine the value of astrology! You need to understand: hydromancy is the one and only means of discerning people's true destiny in the whole of Teyvat! No matter how much Mora or gems you might have, the value of fate is quite simply incalculable! Perhaps not the smartest question you might have had for me...

More About Mona: III

You want me to explain how astrology works? I'm not sure you'd understand even if I told you. But since you ask... The method I use is called hydromancy. The art of inferring fate from the illusory reflection of the stars on the water's surface. The inverted reflection in the water is an image of the heavens from within which the truth of our world can be observed. ...It is the one and only success story of that old lady's research endeavors.

More About Mona: IV

Mona Megistus, the Astrologist — we came up with that name together, the old lady and me. She said it had a nice ring to it... But then she started calling me 'Meg' for short, which is obviously unnecessary, because clearly 'Mona' is already suffice for a shorter name— No! You are NOT allowed to call me that, it's embarrassing! Gah! I knew I shouldn't have told you!

More About Mona: V

The golden rule all fortune-tellers abide by is: never offer advice. Only state the results of the divination. Otherwise, you risk your fate becoming tangled up with that of your subject. But for you, I will make an exception to this rule — because our fates have been intertwined from the beginning.

About Us: Work

Why do I write reports rather than using my divination to earn Mora? I would never use hydromancy for the sake of Mora, nor did I learn hydromancy for that purpose.

About Us: My Fate

I don't know. Unless left with no other choice, astrologers do not foretell their own fate. The elders of my art warned against it, for it can turn fate in on itself, which is incredibly dangerous.

About Us: Your Fate

As you are not from this world, I am unable to give you a prediction. All I can tell you is that your journey is far from over.

Thoughts About Other Characters

Jean

You mean the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius? Her constellation is Leo Minor, which represents strength and responsibility shouldered too young... Though the lioness has been separated from her pride for a long time, she grows from strength to strength, and the day will come when she is ready to return as its glorious leader.

Albedo

Albedo? Ah... I envy his ability to solely focus on his research without getting bogged down in mundane worldly affairs. What a wonderful life! If that batty old lady hadn't had one too many screws loose, perhaps that's the life I'd be living by now myself...

Klee

Ah yes, Alice's daughter. She's in the custody of the Knights of Favonius, and Albedo looks after her too. She's blessed to have Trifolium as her constellation, which represents good luck. I'm slightly envious... *smirk* Although, if I'd been blessed with good luck, I suppose I never would have had the great honor of running into that old woman, would I...

Diluc

Diluc Ragnvindr. His constellation, Noctua, represents vigilance in the darkness of night... A lone guardian keeping watch, longing for the splendor of dawn, yet destined to solitude in the dark days preceding its arrival. ...Or, wait, maybe Noctua's the one tied to wealth...?

Kaeya

Kaeya Alberich? He's a Pavo Ocellus. Destined for greatness and grandeur... and to hide ugly realities behind a layer of charm and elegance. He believes he has made a clean break with his past, but one day fate will catch up with him. When it does, he will have a major decision to make.

Lisa

A Tempus Fugit... The constellation derives its name from the hourglass, and stands for knowledge and time — or rather, the trade-off between them. As each grain of sand falls down, a moment of time — of life, even, dies for good. To stop the unrelenting flow of sand, one would have to turn the hourglass on its side. But once the sand comes to rest, it remains motionless forever... Hmm, maybe "becomes lazy" is more accurate than "comes to rest," in this case.

Venti

Venti? The bard that sits around doing nothing all day? What's so interesting about him? Sure, I guess I can take a look... Huh, that's weird, the scryglass, it's... I can't see a thing... this wind... I can't... open my eyes! No, my hat! Ah! My clothes, stop! The wind's going to strip all my clothes off! Make it stop, make it stop! ...Alright, alright! I'll never do this again!

Hobbies & Personality

Mona's Hobbies

My hobby? Stargazing! In this all-too-real world in which we live, we all need to look up from the dust once in a while and fix our gaze on the stars, in a spirit of wonder... That, plus the whole thing about me being an astrologer.

Mona's Troubles

*sigh* The equipment repair bill is due, and so is the final payment for that celestial globe I ordered... Also, I still need to renew my journal subscriptions, not to mention pay the rent... Hmm, which one to prioritize? ...Ah, I'll pay off the celestial globe first. If I leave it any longer, they'll sell out, and then I'll never get my hands on one...

Favorite Food

Salad. Salad is by far the best food in the world. Cheap to buy, easy to whip up, filling, and it's the most convenient thing there is when you're working on a column or fixing some equipment — I mean, who's got time for a proper dinner anyway?

Least Favorite Food

You know, all those... overpriced, fancy foods. Personally, I think it's uncivilized and, frankly, dangerous to splash out and indulge yourself every time you have a little hunger pang.

Feelings About Ascension

Feelings About Ascension: Intro

This was ordained by fate! Long had I foreseen it.

Feelings About Ascension: Building Up

...One step closer. Maybe soon I shall finally uncover the truth of this world?

Feelings About Ascension: Climax

My scryglass has long since preordained all that will take place beneath the stars it reflects.

Feelings About Ascension: Conclusion

In the reflection of the water, I see the ascension of the morning star.

Receiving a Gift

Receiving a Gift: I

Ah, so satisfied... Who would have thought knowing you would bear so many benefits.

Receiving a Gift: II

Just to be clear... you're sure I don't have to pay... for any of this?

Receiving a Gift: III

I don't mean to nitpick, or anything, it's just... I haven't quite eaten enough.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths
  • At Lv90, Mona already gets +32% Energy Recharge baked into the ascension stat line — no artifacts needed for this part.
  • Has crowd-control (knockback/pull/freeze/stun…) via Mirror Reflection of Doom.
  • The Normal Attack (via Ripple of Fate) already deals innate Hydro DMG from the start — no need to wait on the Elemental Skill to apply the element.
Weaknesses
  • The ascension stat isn't CRIT Rate/DMG — this kit isn't built to carry the team's main damage, fitting a support/sub-DPS role better than a main carry.
  • 5★ (Catalyst) — only available on limited/character-specific banners, not on the standard wish.
