Mualani
Mualani is one of the most explosive Hydro main DPS in the game; a single bite can wipe a whole screen of enemies. She scales on HP, so stack HP% everywhere while still building CRIT so 4pc Obsidian Codex can rocket her CRIT Rate. What she needs most is a Pyro enabler for Vaporize (Xiangling, Bennett) and ideally a Citlali or Xilonen for RES shred. If you skip Surf's Up, the craftable Ring of Yaxche or BP Sacrificial Jade still work great. Farm a Hydro goblet and CRIT circlet first.

Nightsoul's Blessing: Mualani
Continuously consume Nightsoul points. When they are depleted or when the skill is used again, Mualani's Nightsoul's Blessing will end. The state itself has the following traits:
·Mualani mounts her Sharky Surfboard, increasing Mualani's Movement SPD and interruption resistance. Mualani can move on water and liquid Phlogiston while this state is active, and she will take no DMG from the latter.
·Normal Attacks will be converted to Sharky's Bites, dealing Nightsoul-aligned Hydro DMG based on Mualani's Max HP. Sharky's Bites can be used in mid-air. DMG dealt this way is considered Normal Attack DMG.
·When she makes contact with opponents in this state, Mualani applies "Marked as Prey" to them and gains 1 Wave Momentum stack. Max 3 stacks. 1 stack can be gained from the same opponent every 0.7s.
Wave Momentum and Marked as Prey
When Mualani uses Sharky's Bite, her DMG dealt increases based on Wave Momentum stacks. When she has 3 stacks, Sharky's Bite will be converted to Sharky's Surging Bite, further increasing her DMG and removing all her stacks when hitting an opponent.
When Sharky's Bite hits an opponent Marked as Prey, that mark will be removed, and she will fire Shark Missiles at up to 5 nearby opponents Marked as Prey, dealing DMG to them equal to this Sharky's Bite instance and clearing their Marks. If more than 1 opponent is the target of Sharky's Bite and Shark Missiles, the DMG dealt will decrease, decreasing at most to 72% of the original DMG when 3 opponents are targeted.
First off, Sharky is a freshwater shark on top of being a surfboard. Second, it's not that it wants to eat for real, just that it definitely bites for real.

Mualani picked this moniker for launching her Shark Missile because it combines the warmth of explosive passion with a more chill, laid-back vibe — most hot spring-ish.

Night Realm's Gift: Crests and Troughs
While in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics within Natlan, she can use Nightsoul Transmission: Mualani. When the active character is currently sprinting, swimming, in a movement mode caused by certain Talents, or at a certain height in the air, the following will trigger when switching to Mualani: Mualani will enter the Nightsoul's Blessing state and gain 40 Nightsoul points. Nightsoul Transmission can be triggered once every 10s by your own team.
Additionally, Mualani's Nightsoul point or Phlogiston consumption while moving on water and Liquid Phlogiston during Nightsoul's Blessing is decreased by 75% while in Natlan, and her Nightsoul point consumption is decreased by 35% while doing the same outside Natlan.
The Trick Is to Keep Smiling!
Combat Rotation
- Cast Elemental Skill (E) "Surfshark Wavebreaker" to enter Nightsoul's Blessing, gaining 60 Nightsoul points.
- While in this state, Normal Attacks auto-convert into Sharky's Bites dealing Hydro DMG based on Max HP, usable even mid-air.
- Keep landing hits to stack up to 3 Wave Momentum and apply "Marked as Prey" to the target.
- At 3 stacks, Sharky's Bite upgrades into Sharky's Surging Bite (higher DMG, consumes all stacks on hit) — prioritize marked enemies.
- Unleash Elemental Burst (Q) "Boomsharka-laka" (60 energy, 15s CD) for AoE Hydro DMG scaling off Max HP, weaving it in while still in Nightsoul's Blessing.
- Keep chaining Normal Attacks in the Nightsoul state until points run out, or recast E to end it early on purpose.
- Recast E to refresh Nightsoul's Blessing and repeat the mark-and-bite loop, firing the Burst again once it's off cooldown.
- Since her damage scales with Max HP%, prioritize HP% and Hydro DMG Bonus gear to maximize both Sharky's Bites and the Burst.
Mualani constellations
The DMG dealt by the first Sharky's Surging Bite after Mualani enters Nightsoul's Blessing and the Shark Missiles it triggers is increased by 66% of Mualani's Max HP. This instance of increased DMG is subject to the diminishing DMG rules of Surfshark Wavebreaker.
In addition, while out of combat, Mualani's Nightsoul's Blessing state consumes 30% less Phlogiston and Nightsoul points.
Mualani gains 2 of Surfshark Wavebreaker's Wave Momentum stacks when she enters Nightsoul's Blessing state. She will gain 1 stack when obtaining a Puffer.
In addition, whenever Mualani obtains 2 Puffers within a single instance of the Nightsoul's Blessing state, she will recover an additional 12 Nightsoul points over 2s. You must first unlock the Ascension Talent "Heat-Resistant Freshwater Floater."

When I saw what Kachina looked like when she finished her training, I heard a voice inside me say, "Hey, you belong in the water. Stay on dry land for too long, and you'll wind up stranded there." If the Pyro Archon acknowledges a craftsperson, then you know she's good. Even if an Ancient Name got all smashed up, I bet she could make it good as new again. Wait, did I just jinx something? Ifa is the best! No matter what we invite him to do, he's always happy to join. And he's super quick and efficient at everything, too. Wow, you really know just about everybody! Mizuki's a good friend of the People of the Springs. She might come across as the quiet type, but she's actually really chatty. Whatever the conversation, she can keep it going for as long as you let her... Hehe, it's easy to lose track of time when you're talking to her. Oh, this reminds me! She's opening a new branch of her business in Natlan soon. Have you got time? You wanna come show your support? I'm gonna give her some purple floaters as a gift. I hope she likes them!
Varesa
Varesa... Oh! Varesa! She's that girl who has super strength, but never does so well in the Pilgrimage, right? Iansan brought her here for swimming training once. She used to lie on the beach reading comics during her down time, so I got to read a few over her shoulder. She can list off the names of so many ancient heroes, including loads from the People of the Springs — even ones I didn't really know of! She's pretty awesome.

Swimming, diving, water skiing, surfing, parasailing, beach volleyball, water volleyball, rowing, snorkeling, holding my breath underwater... Whew, I don't think I could ever list all my favorite activities, not even if I had an extra pair of hands. Sometimes, when I get tired, I just float on the water and relax... I've even fallen asleep a few times. It may be comfortable, but you pay the price when you wake up and realize you've drifted into the middle of nowhere. I always get an earful from the elders when that happens...
Mualani's Troubles
Whenever I'm feeling down, I tell myself, "C'mon, it's okay. It's just bad luck. Having one terrible day doesn't mean things will stay that way." That usually helps me feel a little better. But if that still doesn't help, I go Spiritway surfing and shout my lungs out on the high-speed twists and turns. Going for a few rides always makes me feel like I've well and truly left my troubles in the dust.

- At Lv90, Mualani already gets +19,2% CRIT Rate baked into the ascension stat line — no artifacts needed for this part.
- Has Interruption Resistance while using Surfshark Wavebreaker — hard to stagger or interrupt mid-combo.
- The core mechanic (via Surfshark Wavebreaker) scales with HP — HP% is also an easy-to-find substat, and the character usually comes with high survivability too.
