Is Chongyun worth building?

Chongyun is an easy-to-get 4-star Cryo sub-DPS, most useful when you need off-field Cryo or want to convert a melee main DPS into Cryo damage for Freeze teams. He's no damage superstar, but his infusion field and resistance-shredding Burst are handy. The key is the craftable Sacrificial Greatsword to double-cast his Skill, which nearly removes energy worries. Hit your ER first, then chase CRIT; invest moderately, don't pour resources in like a main DPS.

Spirit Blade: Chonghua's Layered Frost

Chongyun strikes the ground with his greatsword, causing a Cryo explosion in a circular AoE in front of him that deals Cryo DMG.
After a short delay, the cold air created by the Cryo explosion will coalesce into a Chonghua Frost Field, within which all Sword, Claymore and Polearm-wielding characters' weapons will be infused with Cryo.

Spirit Blade: Cloud-Parting Star

Performing the secret hand seals, Chongyun summons 3 giant spirit blades in mid-air that fall to the earth one by one after a short delay, exploding as they hit the ground.
When the spirit blades explode, they will deal AoE Cryo DMG and launch opponents.

"As ice doth give the biting frost birth, My transcendent blade shakes heaven and earth. Heed my summons and come hence!"

Steady Breathing

Sword, Claymore, or Polearm-wielding characters within the field created by Spirit Blade: Chonghua's Layered Frost have their Normal ATK SPD increased by 8%.

Rimechaser Blade

When the field created by Spirit Blade: Chonghua's Layered Frost disappears, another spirit blade will be summoned to strike nearby opponents, dealing 100% of Chonghua's Layered Frost's Skill DMG as AoE Cryo DMG. Opponents hit by this blade will have their Cryo RES decreased by 10% for 8s.

When dispatched on an expedition in Liyue, time consumed is reduced by 25%.

Combat Rotation

Cast the Skill (E) – Spirit Blade: Chonghua's Layered Frost – first to trigger the Cryo explosion and form the Chonghua Frost Field (15s CD).
The field lasts 15 seconds and infuses Cryo onto Sword/Claymore/Polearm teammates' attacks for 2 seconds per hit — swap to your main DPS right away to make use of it.
Let the main DPS keep attacking while the field is active to trigger Freeze/Superconduct/Melt depending on your team comp.
Once you've built up 40 energy, swap back to Chongyun and unleash Spirit Blade: Cloud-Parting Star (Burst, 12s CD) for wide Cryo AoE damage and launch.
Swap Chongyun out again right after the Burst so the main DPS can keep combo-ing.
When the Skill's 15s cooldown is back up, swap to Chongyun again to refresh the Frost Field.
Repeat the loop: E to form the field → swap to DPS to attack inside it → Burst once 40 energy is ready → swap out, ideally syncing the Burst's 12s CD with your DPS's combo windows.
