Zhongli
Zhongli is the number-one shielder, turning any team into a fully safe one while also cutting enemy elemental and physical RES by 20%. Since everything scales off HP, farm HP%/HP%/HP% artifacts and never touch ATK. The excellent f2p weapon is the 3-star Black Tassel (the most HP in the game), so there's no need to pull for Staff of Homa. His RES-shred burst works fine at low levels, so prioritize Skill for a thicker shield. A small investment that buys you comfort for the rest of your account's life.

Stone Stele

Additionally, it will intermittently resonate with other nearby Geo constructs, dealing Geo DMG to nearby opponents.
The Stone Stele is considered a Geo construct that can both be climbed and used to block attacks.
Only one Stele created by Zhongli himself may initially exist at any one time.

Characters protected by the Jade Shield will decrease the Elemental RES and Physical RES of opponents in a small AoE by 20%. This effect cannot be stacked.

- Open with Burst (Planet Befall) for wide-area Geo damage and Petrification crowd control; 12s cooldown, costs 40 energy.
- Hold the Elemental Skill (Dominus Lapidis) to place a Stone Stele and raise the Jade Shield — 150% damage absorption plus a 20% Elemental/Physical RES shred on enemies near the shield, shield lasts 20s, skill CD 12s.
- Stand inside the Jade Shield then immediately swap to your main DPS, since the shield persists after Zhongli leaves the field.
- Tap the Skill again once its 4s cooldown is up to place an extra Stone Stele, triggering resonance damage and giving your team a Geo anchor point.
- If your team runs other elements (Cryo/Pyro/Electro/Hydro), have the main DPS attack near the Stele to trigger Geo-related reactions like Crystallize.
- Swap back to Zhongli just before the Jade Shield expires (~20s) to Hold-cast the Skill again and keep the RES shred buff up continuously.
- Prioritize Energy Recharge gear since the Burst costs a hefty 40 energy — make sure it's ready at the start of every fight.
- Throughout the fight Zhongli mainly plays a shield-support role — maximize your main DPS's field time instead of holding him on field.

- At Lv90, Zhongli already gets +28,8% Geo DMG Bonus baked into the ascension stat line — no artifacts needed for this part.
- Can shield the team via Dominus Lapidis.
- The core mechanic (via Dominus Lapidis) scales with HP — HP% is also an easy-to-find substat, and the character usually comes with high survivability too.
- Since it scales with HP (via Dominus Lapidis), it can't share ATK%-geared artifacts with other DPS — needs a separate HP-focused artifact/weapon set.
