Targets per game8 + gamewith: aim for ~3,000 ATK (roughly 12-13 ATK% sub rolls) AND as much Energy Regen as possible. Why 3,000 ATK: his Core Passive converts 9-18% of ATK into Sheer Force capped at 540 Pt (M0) — at ~3,000 ATK, 18% = 540, so you exactly HIT THE CAP and extra ATK adds no more Sheer Force. Main stats: Disc 4 ATK%; Disc 5 ATK% or Physical DMG; Disc 6 Energy Regen (favored to feed the EX/Ult loop) or ATK%. Substats: ATK% > flat ATK > Energy Regen. Positioning: place the Rupture DPS (Yixuan) DIRECTLY BEFORE Pan Yinhu, since his EX Special triggers a Quick Assist to the preceding character. 1) Enter via Parry/Quick Assist. 2) Fire EX Special 'Tieshan Break Force' to apply both buffs (Sheer Force + damage amp) over ~4s and use Touch of Death to inflict Depleted Qi. 3) Quick Assist straight to Yixuan; Pan Yinhu off-field AUTO-casts his Special to keep the amp up. 4) Repeat EX Special ~every 25s to refresh buffs, Touch of Death ~every 10s (up to 3 times inside the EX window). 5) Ultimate when the team needs healing or when energy is full. A simple, low-input loop.
Enemies with Depleted Qi take an extra +10% DMG, pushing Touch of Death's amp from +20% to +30% for the WHOLE team. The first real power bump since it buffs every ally, not just the Rupture DPS. Solid if you already own the base copy.
The ideal stopping point (game8 + gamewith both rate it 5★). Restores 4 Energy per 6 Break Force consumed and extends Depleted Qi from 10s to 12s. It fixes his biggest weakness — his EX Special is very energy-hungry — so the EX/Ult loop flows far better and the damage-amp keeps near-100% uptime. As an A-rank his dupes come from the signal shop, making M2 easy to reach.
All skills +2 levels. A small flat bump with no gameplay change — low value, just a stepping stone to M4.
Ultimate healing +25% plus 'backup provisions' for emergency party healing. Pure survivability — very handy in long endurance content (Deadly Assault) but adds no offensive buff, so only consider it after M2.

The big upgrade to his actual job (game8 + gamewith 5★): the Core Passive grants an extra 6% of ATK as Sheer Force to Rupture allies and raises the Sheer Force cap from 540 to 720 Pt — about +33% on his single most important buff at cap. Being an A-rank, M6 is far more reachable than an S-rank's; if you're committed to a Yixuan team long-term, this is the target after M2.

- Delivers Sheer Force + damage amp to a Rupture DPS at premium-support level: game8/genshinlab rate his Yixuan support as COMPARABLE to Astra Yao — yet he's a cheap A-rank.
- Depleted Qi (+20% DMG taken, M1→+30%) applies to the ENTIRE team rather than just Rupture, so he still adds value alongside off-type allies.
- Simple, low-input rotation — easy for newcomers; being an A-rank makes dupes for M2/M6 very accessible.
- His signature Sheer Force (透徹力) buff ONLY works on Rupture (命破) agents — currently near-exclusive to Yixuan; in a non-Rupture team you lose his strongest buff.
- Near-zero personal damage — pure support/tank, can't carry, fully reliant on the team's DPS.
- His value is boxed in by the tiny current pool of Rupture DPS; team variety hinges on Hoyoverse releasing more Rupture characters.
In Shiyu Defense, Pan Yinhu only shines when you build a single-target Rupture team around Yixuan (plus a Stunner like Ju Fufu/Qingyi) — his Sheer Force + damage amp push Yixuan's burst inside the stun window. Outside a Rupture comp his value drops, so his Shiyu rating hinges entirely on owning Yixuan (per game8/gamewith; as a support he rides the DPS's placement).
Deadly Assault is his best stage: a long endurance mode with high-HP foes that demands survivability — Pan Yinhu's healing + 8s regen + shield let the team outlast the long waves while keeping the damage amp on Yixuan. gamewith highlights his heal-plus-buff kit as very valuable in the drawn-out season-2 content. (Still only strong within a Rupture team.)

EX Special Attack: Mountainous Pulse Strike
With enough Energy, press to activate: EX Special Attack: Mountainous Pulse Strike unleashes a powerful strike forward, dealing Physical DMG. Gain 3 points of Break Force on activation. Upon hitting an enemy, it triggers the Quick Assist of the previous character in the squad. Agents who enter the field via this Quick Assist will gain the Sheer Force bonus from the Core Passive. After switching out, Pan Yinhu will stay on the field and automatically launch Special Attack: Touch of Death until his Break Force runs out, where he then leaves the field. Character is invulnerable while using this skill.

Additional Ability: Iron Stomach
When another character in your squad is a Rupture character or shares the same Faction:When Pan Yinhu hits an enemy with Special Attack: Touch of Death, the enemy suffers the Depleted Qi effect, increasing all DMG against the target by 20%. Each hit of Special Attack: Touch of Death inflicts a 10s Depleted Qi effect. This effect can't stack, but repeated hits on the same enemy will extend the duration.

Is Pan Yinhu worth pulling?
Worth leveling if you run Rupture teams (Yixuan, Manato, Yidhari)—he's a rare Defense unit that both shields and buffs the whole team's ATK. Strong in survivability and utility, weak in personal damage, so don't expect him to carry on his own.
