Reverse: 1999 Best Teams

Team comps and Arcanist pairings that work together.

Each team below is built from the game's own skill data: the mechanic tags (Burn, Poison, Moxie, Crit…) are read straight out of each Arcanist's kit, so the reason a team works is something you can check yourself on the character pages. Teams marked "No Euphoria needed" contain no member whose ranking depends on an unlocked Euphoria.

No Euphoria needed
Burn
Brume6★
Brume
DPS Luxurious Leisure

Beast · Mental DMG · Burn — main burn carry, no Euphoria required.

Lopera6★
Lopera
DPS Substitutes and Simulacra

Beast · Reality DMG · Bullet + Burn — second burn source, layers DoT alongside Brume.

Lorentz Butterfly6★
Lorentz Butterfly
DPS Singleness of Heart

Intellect · Mental DMG · Glow + Burn + Moxie/Ult — third Burn tag, also feeds Moxie to speed up Ultimates.

Yenisei5★
Yenisei
Support Take the Hard Journey

Star · Sturdy + Heal + Shield + Moxie — keeps the three Burn dealers alive long enough for DoT to tick out.

Why this team works

Brume, Lopera and Lorentz Butterfly all carry the Burn tag — stacking Burn from three sources shortens the time-to-kill on a single target far more than one Burn dealer alone. Yenisei rounds the team out with Shield + Heal + Moxie support so the DoT window survives longer. None of the four needs a Euphoria to function.

Burn Crit
Isolde6★
Isolde
Debuffer Blasphemer of Night

Spirit · Reality DMG · Burn + Crit — ignites and debuffs, Euphoria required.

J6★
J
Sub-DPS Knock on the Door

Beast · Reality DMG · Burn + Shield + Riposte — second Burn stack, frontline durability, Euphoria required.

Spathodea6★
Spathodea
DPS Tomorrow Also

Beast · Reality DMG · Crit + Burn — main carry that converts the Burn window into crit damage, Euphoria required.

Yenisei5★
Yenisei
Support Melodies Old and New

Star · Sturdy + Heal + Shield + Moxie — sustain so the Burn/Crit combo keeps firing.

Why this team works

Isolde and Spathodea both pair Burn with Crit — igniting a target then critting the burning DoT window multiplies total damage. J adds a second Burn tag plus Shield/Riposte for frontline durability. Yenisei sustains. Isolde, J and Spathodea all require their Euphoria to reach this ceiling.

Glow Crit
Lorentz Butterfly6★
Lorentz Butterfly
DPS The Fluttering Moment

Intellect · Mental DMG · Glow + Burn + Moxie + Ultimate — main Glow carry, no Euphoria required.

Yenisei5★
Yenisei
Support Take the Hard Journey

Star · Mental DMG · Sturdy + Heal + Shield + Moxie — support core, feeds Heal to the team, no Euphoria required.

Why this team works

Lorentz Butterfly, Beryl and Marsha all tap into Glow together with Crit — combining it across three kits at once outperforms any single carry doing it alone. Yenisei keeps the line-up alive with Heal so that payoff has time to land.

Rank Up Crit Burst

Meta (needs Euphoria)
Rank Up Crit
Mercuria6★
Mercuria
Buffer One with the Flow

Spirit · Mental DMG · Rank Up + Crit — Ultimate dispels enemy buffs, grants party Crit Rate and 【Rank Up】 to the whole team, Euphoria (E1) required.

Argus6★
Argus
DPS Blasphemer of Night

Plant · Reality DMG · Crit + self-dispel — Ultimate self-buffs +30% Crit Rate/+30% penetration on the same hit, second skill dispels the target's buffs first, Euphoria (E1) required.

Hissabeth6★
Hissabeth
DPS Brave New World

Plant · Mental DMG · Moxie + self-sustaining AoE — 500% board-wide Ultimate fed by her own 【Hiss!】 card engine, Euphoria (E1) required.

Yenisei5★
Yenisei
Support Take the Hard Journey

Star · Sturdy + Heal + Shield + Moxie — keeps the three offense-first kits alive long enough for the Rank Up/Crit burst to land.

Why this team works

Mercuria's Ultimate is the only kit in the roster confirmed to grant 【Rank Up】 to the whole team, and the same cast dispels enemy buffs while stacking party-wide Crit Rate — both feed straight into Argus, whose passive already locks in a guaranteed Crit and whose own second skill dispels the target's buffs independently, so the two dispels rarely whiff. Hissabeth adds a second wide Mental nuke that runs almost entirely off her own card engine, needing nothing from the other three to keep firing. Yenisei keeps all three offense-first kits alive long enough to land their bursts.

Team building — quick answers

What is the best team in Reverse: 1999?

There is no single best team — the game rewards matching your damage dealer to the stage. In practice the strongest builds stack one mechanic (Burn, Poison, Crit) from several Arcanists at once, then add one Survival unit so the damage-over-time has time to land. Pick the team above whose damage dealer you already own.

Can I clear the game without Euphoria?

Yes. Every team marked "No Euphoria needed" on this page is fielded entirely by Arcanists whose ranking does not assume an unlocked Euphoria, so a free-to-play account can build it as-is at Insight III.

How many Arcanists does a team need?

Four slots, but only three do the work in most fights: a damage dealer, a support that amplifies them, and a Survival or second support. The fourth slot is a substitute — use it to raise bond, or swap in one of the flex picks listed under each team.
