Quick verdict

Still a top-tier Ice Stunner — level him freely if you play Ellen or Miyabi. His strengths are a team-wide 30% CRIT DMG buff via King of the Summit and Ice RES shred; his weakness is being locked into Ice teams with no meaningful personal damage.

Stat targets

The core stat is Impact/衝撃力 (it decides how fast he stuns). game8.jp targets: beginner 185, M0 without signature 190, M0 with signature 194 — hit this and he stuns on rhythm. Main stats: Slot 4 Crit Rate (or Anomaly Proficiency if the team wants it), Slot 5 Ice DMG or ATK%, Slot 6 Impact (MANDATORY). Impact has no substat line, so you reach the number through the W-Engine + set (Shockstar Disco 4 / King of the Summit 4) + the Slot 6 main. Substat order: Crit Rate > Crit DMG >= ATK% (per game8.jp) — crit only adds a little daze/damage, no need to grind it hard since Lycaon deals almost no personal damage.

Rotation & combos

1) OPENER: swap Lycaon in, run a Basic Attack string to build Daze; the second-to-last hit can be HELD to charge extra daze. 2) EX SPECIAL: with energy, fire EX Special (the kick) — big Daze plus a 25% Ice RES shred on the target for 30s; can be HELD for the stronger charged version. 3) COUNTER: on an enemy attack, Dodge Counter — i-frames plus free daze. 4) STUN -> BURST: when the stun bar fills, use Chain Attack/Ultimate then immediately swap to your DPS (Ellen/Miyabi/Hugo) to hit in the stun window; Lycaon's Additional Ability adds +35% Stun DMG multiplier when an ally shares Ice / his faction. 5) UPKEEP: idle off-field to recharge energy, swap back and re-cast EX Special to refresh the Ice RES shred BEFORE the 30s expires.

Mindscapes — how far is worth it?
M1 Worth it

The single worthwhile mindscape (gamewith ★★★★★, game8 ★★★). When EX Special hits, its Daze increases by 12% (once per 8s); a fully-charged EX adds another 10% (~22% total). Lycaon stuns noticeably faster and opens the stun window earlier for your DPS — exactly a stunner's job. If you pull copies at all, this is the only one truly worth it.

M2 Situational

Stunning an enemy or triggering an ally's Chain Attack restores 5 Energy (once per 1s). Smooths out EX Special uptime so his stun rhythm is more consistent — a quality-of-life gain, not a power spike. Nice to have, not worth chasing.

M3 Low value

Basic/Dodge/Assist/Special/Chain +2 levels. A tiny flat bump with no gameplay change — low value, just a bridge.

M4 Low value

Taking a hit while using Basic/Special grants a shield equal to 7.5% Max HP (15s) plus anti-interrupt. Pure survivability — Lycaon is already very safe thanks to long i-frames, so this is nearly meta-irrelevant. Low value.

M5 Low value

All skills +2 levels again. Still just flat numbers, a bridge to M6 — low value.

M6 Situational

Charged attacks make the target take 10% more damage FROM LYCAON, stacking 5x = +50% (12s). Sounds huge but it's a TRAP: the debuff only applies to Lycaon's own damage — and he deals almost none himself — so in a real team it barely raises total damage and does NOT buff your main DPS. game8 rates it only ★★☆. Whale-completion only; most players skip it.

Pros
  • Top-tier, ultra-safe stunner: builds Daze fast and consistently via EX Special + charged hits, with long i-frames on Dodge Counter/EX so he's rarely interrupted or punished.
  • Massive team buff for Ice DPS: his Core shreds 25% Ice RES (30s) and his Additional Ability adds +35% Stun DMG multiplier with an Ice/faction ally — a direct multiplier for Ellen/Miyabi/Hugo.
  • Fully functional at M0 on an A-rank engine: does his whole job at ~190 Impact with no mindscapes or signature needed — very F2P-friendly, invest once and keep him forever.
  • Team-flexible: as a stunner he slots into any team that needs stun, shining most in mono-ice but still serviceable elsewhere when you lack a stunner.
Cons
  • Almost no personal damage: a pure support/stunner who contributes very little to the total damage number himself.
  • Value locked to Ice teams: the 25% Ice RES shred and +35% Stun mult only benefit Ice/faction allies, so pairing outside Ice wastes his Core.
  • Powercrept: newer stunners (Qingyi, Trigger, Ju Fufu…) bring extra damage/utility while Lycaon's shred is Ice-only; and M2-M6 are mostly filler, so there's no reason to invest extra copies.

Endgame mode fit
Shiyu Defense

Excellent in Shiyu Defense: single-target boss floors are home turf for Lycaon + an Ice hyper-carry (Ellen/Miyabi/Hugo) + Soukaku. Fast stun + 25% Ice RES shred lets the DPS erase bosses in the stun window — a top, reliable stunner pick for the Ice side.

Deadly Assault

Still strong in Deadly Assault: the mode rewards fast stun and burst on high-HP elites — Lycaon opens stun windows instantly and shreds Ice RES for the Ice DPS to score high. Note: with the mode's rotating buffs, favor it when the Ice side is buffed (mono-ice Lycaon still scores top); if a boss resists Ice, other stunners may edge him out.
