Resonators are ranked by overall strength in the current meta. Higher tiers deal more, enable more teams or support better — but even lower tiers clear all content with the right build.
How we rate — and where this ranking is weak
Most rankings hand you a letter and expect you to trust it. Here is ours, in the open, so you can disagree with it on purpose.
What a rating is built from, in the order that actually moves it:
- What the kit does on its own — read from the publisher's own skill data, not from someone else's opinion: what the character adds to a team, how much of it is unconditional, and how long it lasts.
- How little it demands back — a character that needs a specific teammate, a signature weapon or a hard rotation is worth less than one that just works.
- How wide it applies — usable in most fights beats devastating in one.
- Whether it stays true after the next patch — a rating that only holds this fortnight is a rating we should not have published.
Where this ranking is weak — read this before you spend anything:
- One letter per character. A character can be excellent in one role and mediocre in another; use the role filter above and treat the letter as "how good at the role we list them in".
- It assumes no duplicates and no signature weapon. Some characters change bracket entirely once you own those — that is a fact about your account, not about them.
- Endgame modes reward different things, and one shared ranking cannot be right for all of them at once.
- A newly released character is rated from the kit before the community has stress-tested it. We revisit those first.
If a rating looks wrong to you, it may well be. Tell us what we missed and we will re-read the kit — that is cheaper for everyone than being confidently wrong in public.
What SS, S, A, B, and C actually mean
The scale runs from SS down to C. SS resonators define the current meta — they set the ceiling for damage and clear speed that everything else gets measured against. S is excellent and still meta-relevant, just a step below the very top. A is solid: strong, flexible, and often easier to build. B is viable but usually gets replaced once a stronger option joins the roster. C means the kit has been surpassed — it still clears content, just far from the current ceiling.
None of this is a ban list. A C-tier resonator with a complete kit and good Echoes still finishes towers; an SS-tier one built badly does not.
How this list is built
Every placement here is cross-referenced across multiple community rankings rather than pulled from a single source. Where independent lists agree, the tier is locked in; where they disagree, the entry is weighted toward the reading backed by the most consistent data, then re-checked against that resonator's Resonance Chain, weapon options, and Echo sets.
Freshly released kits — such as a newly launched resonator arriving with a version update — start out provisional until enough independent sources confirm the placement, since a kit needs real time in players' hands before its true ceiling is clear.
Tower of Adversity vs Whimpering Wastes vs Overall
A single "Overall" number hides a real split. Tower of Adversity rewards single-target burst against enemies that rotate on a schedule, favoring quick-swap DPS and sub-DPS pairs. Whimpering Wastes asks for two full 3-member teams clearing multiple waves against modifiers that change monthly, so it rewards AoE, off-field damage, and survivability over raw single-target ceiling. A resonator can sit at the top in one mode and land only mid-pack in the other — the buff conditions are simply different. Tier list isn't the whole picture
Tier only measures standalone ceiling. What decides an actual clear is team composition — a mid-tier DPS with the right buffers can out-damage a top-tier one running alone — plus investment (weapon, Echo substats, Resonance Chain level) and the player's execution of quick-swap rotations.
4★ resonators deserve credit too: since a 4★ or better is guaranteed at least every 10 Convenes, pushing their Resonance Chain high is realistic for almost any account. Sanhua is among the fastest Concerto-energy generators around and stays the most versatile budget support; Mortefi is the 4★ coordinated-attack workhorse still earning endgame slots; Danjin is one of the hardest-hitting 4★s. High-Sequence 4★s routinely beat undergeared 5★s.
