Wriothesley
Wriothesley is a very strong, comfortable Cryo main DPS who self-heals to stay in his hard-hitting punch stance, so he rarely needs a shield. Cashflow Supervision fits him best, but the 4-star Widsith or Tulaytullah's Remembrance carry him just fine. Go for 4pc Marechaussee Hunter, or Blizzard Strayer if you play Freeze; just keep enough Energy for his Burst. Pair him with Furina and Kazuha and he explodes, add Charlotte for healing to play it safe.

Teams for Wriothesley
Furina delivers a massive damage boost, Kazuha groups enemies and shreds RES, and Charlotte heals to keep the HP-swap playstyle safe.
Bennett and Xiangling apply Pyro to trigger Melt and amplify Cryo damage, while Zhongli shields against interruptions.
Wriothesley's talents
Forceful Fists of Frost
Coalescing frost about his fist, Wriothesley will unleash powerful Repelling Fists, performing up to 5 rapid attacks that deal Cryo DMG.
Apart from this, Normal Attack combo count will not reset for a short time after using Icefang Rush or sprinting.
Charged Attack
Consumes a fixed amount of Stamina to leap and unleash a Vaulting Fist, dealing AoE Cryo DMG.
Plunging Attack
Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE Cryo DMG upon impact.
Icefang Rush
Chilling Penalty
·Increases Wriothesley's interruption resistance
·When his HP is above 50%, it will enhance the Repelling Fists of Normal Attack: Forceful Fists of Frost and increase its DMG. When such an attack hits, it will consume a fixed amount of Wriothesley's HP. HP can be lost this way once every 0.1s.
This effect will be canceled should Wriothesley leave the field.
"Past convictions are past. It is our future choices that we must grasp."
"Defy your fate, or else this glutton be, to pay your fate's due, by the crime and thee."
Darkgold Wolfbite
Arkhe: Ousia
After Icicle Impact ends, a Surging Blade will descend upon the opponent's position, dealing Ousia-aligned Cryo DMG.
There are some things that even the Duke of the Fortress of Meropide can do little about — for example, complicated paperwork, the trivialities of a supervisor, or even... little kids pasting a whole host of cute but difficult-to-remove stickers on his boxing gloves.
There Shall Be a Plea for Justice
You can gain a Gracious Rebuke this way once every 5s.
There Shall Be a Reckoning for Sin
The Duke's Grace
There Shall Be an Unveiling for Injustice
When Wriothesley's HP is less than 60%, he will obtain a "Gracious Rebuke: Unveiling." This turns the Charged Attack of his Normal Attack: Forceful Fists of Frost into the enhanced Luster: Vaulting Fist, which will not consume Stamina and restores 30% Max HP to Wriothesley upon hit. Wriothesley can gain HP in this way once every 2s.
Additionally, the third and fifth strikes of Repelling Fist enhanced by Chilling Penalty will deal 60% and 80% of their original Cryo DMG respectively, while Luster: Vaulting Fist will deal 100% of its original AoE Cryo DMG. The aforementioned DMG is considered as Stellar-Conduct DMG, and Wriothesley deals 30% increased Stellar-Conduct DMG.
Additionally, when inside a Polestar Field, Wriothesley will enter the Radiance: Stellar-Conduct state.
Combat Rotation
- Before combat, make sure Energy Recharge covers the 60-energy cost of Elemental Burst "Darkgold Wolfbite" (Q).
- Open with Elemental Skill "Icefang Rush" (E, 16s CD) to enter the Chilling Penalty state for 10 seconds, boosting Normal Attack damage.
- During those 10 seconds, chain the 5-hit "Repelling Fists" Normal Attack combo - enhanced, but it drains HP every 0.1s on hit.
- Once HP drops below 60%, the "Gracious Rebuke" passive triggers, upgrading your next Charged Attack into a stronger Vaulting Fist that heals 30% Max HP - use it right away to stabilize HP.
- Unleash Elemental Burst "Darkgold Wolfbite" (Q, costs 60 Energy) for 5 hits of AoE Cryo damage, followed by a delayed Ousia-aligned Surging Blade.
- Keep re-casting Icefang Rush to maintain Chilling Penalty uptime, weaving in Normal/Charged Attacks, and fire the Burst again whenever both Energy and cooldown allow.
- Watch your HP closely due to the Skill's self-damage - lean on the Charged Attack heal or support units to avoid dropping too low.
Wriothesley constellations
The Gracious Rebuke from the Ascension Talent "There Shall Be a Plea for Justice" is changed to this:
When Wriothesley's HP is less than 60% or while he is in the Chilling Penalty state caused by Icefang Rush, when the fifth attack of Repelling Fists hits, it will create a Gracious Rebuke. 1 Gracious Rebuke effect can be obtained every 2.5s.
Additionally, Rebuke: Vaulting Fist will obtain the following enhancement:
· The DMG Bonus gained will be further increased to 200%.
· When it hits while Wriothesley is in the Chilling Penalty state, that state's duration is extended by 4s. 1 such extension can occur per 1 Chilling Penalty duration.
You must first unlock the Ascension Talent "There Shall Be a Plea for Justice."
When using Darkgold Wolfbite, each Prosecution Edict stack from the Ascension Talent "There Shall Be a Reckoning for Sin" will increase said ability's DMG dealt by 40%.
You must first unlock the Ascension Talent "There Shall Be a Reckoning for Sin."
Increases the Level of Normal Attack: Forceful Fists of Frost by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.
The HP restored to Wriothesley through Rebuke: Vaulting Fist will be increased to 50% of his Max HP. You must first unlock the Ascension Talent "There Shall Be a Plea for Justice."
Additionally, when Wriothesley is healed, if the amount of healing overflows, the following effects will occur depending on whether he is on the field or not. If he is on the field, his ATK SPD will be increased by 20% for 4s. If he is off-field, all of your own party members' ATK SPD will be increased by 10% for 6s. These two methods of increasing ATK SPD cannot stack.
Increases the Level of Darkgold Wolfbite by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.
The CRIT Rate of Rebuke: Vaulting Fist will be increased by 10%, and its CRIT DMG by 80%. When unleashed, it will also create an additional icicle that deals 100% of Rebuke: Vaulting Fist's Base DMG as Cryo DMG. DMG dealt this way is regarded as Charged Attack DMG.
You must first unlock the Ascension Talent "There Shall Be a Plea for Justice."

Birthday
Our tradition says that all children of Fontaine are born amid their parents' wishes and blessings, but I'd like to think that all children are born from such wonderful feelings. Anything that I can say to celebrate your birth would feel a little trivial next to that, right? Unfortunately, I won't be able to reduce your prison sentence if you were to commit a crime — the only thing I would be able to pull off would be a special Welfare Meal for your birthday dinner. With all that in mind, why don't you try to respect the law a bit more around your birthday, so we'll be able to celebrate somewhere nice on the surface?
Self-Introduction
Hello
Hello, please try to quickly summarize your intents and goals for this meeting. Oh? You're not here for business? Well, that just makes me even more nervous. Alright, then perhaps we should sit down and discuss things in a little more detail... Oh, and you can call me "Your Grace." That's what they all call me down in the Fortress, and... well, I kinda got used to it.
About Wriothesley: Misunderstanding
People have this tendency to see me as an all-knowing figure with mystical powers. In reality, I'm just one man with two eyes and two ears. How can I possibly know everything that's happening in the Fortress of Meropide?
About Wriothesley: Small Breaks
I finished serving my sentence long ago, so there's nothing stopping me from taking an occasional breather in the overworld as a free citizen. Ah, there's no need to worry... The Fortress of Meropide doesn't currently have any problem so big as to require my round-the-clock presence to operate effectively.
More About Wriothesley: I
As a general rule, the less a person sees of me, the happier their life is.
More About Wriothesley: II
Hmm? Oh the scar on my body? It's from a gash I got while battling a gigantic undersea monster that tried to take over the Fortress of Meropide. ...Hah, just kidding.
More About Wriothesley: III
Did you know, many similar models of handcuffs can all be unlocked using the same master key? Except mine, of course. They're different.
More About Wriothesley: IV
Honestly, my personal abilities are pretty limited. I got no talent in medicine, inventions, or ship-making. But what I do know how to do is find those people with those talents, and get 'em to come work for me.
More About Wriothesley: V
I've managed to get myself to a pretty comfortable place in life, but there's still some things I want that are outside my reach, like a peaceful and happy childhood, or the ability to trust other people. Maybe some people would see those feelings as shameful or contradictory, but I don't see a problem with sharing them. After all, why should anybody be afraid to admit what they want?
About Us: Committing to Jail
I form my first impressions of many people based on the contents of their inmate registration papers. Seems like you're no exception to the rule.
About Us: Finishing the Jail Term
They say it's best to begin a friendship when there's no conflict of interest. Seems like the appropriate time has come.
Thoughts About Other Characters
Neuvillette
I was once summoned by Neuvillette to discuss some matters with him in his office. When I approached the Palais Mermonia, I saw him standing by the road, completely drenched in the rain. I held out an umbrella for him, and while he thanked me politely, his expression was a little... distressed, I guess. I can only assume that I had disturbed him in the middle of something.
Furina
Miss Furina displayed a severe lack of interest in my trial and excused herself early, probably because I pleaded guilty to all charges as soon as they were announced. Disappointing the Hydro Archon is a big deal, so... suppose I've got no choice but to keep gifting her copious amounts of the highest quality tea.
Sigewinne
Sigewinne the head nurse possesses all the virtues associated with the medical profession and genuinely cares for the well-being of everyone around her. She seems to have picked up some bad habits from me, though, like frequently betting with her Melusine friends over who'd be able to put more stickers on my belongings. Hm? No, I'm not actually bothered by it.
Clorinde
Clorinde is the best Champion Duelist you can find. Her combat prowess is already the stuff of legend. I've never fought her myself, but that's because there's never been a need for it.
Lyney
I'll admit that when I removed the House of the Hearth's spies in the underworld, that was kind of an intentional provocation to the Fatui. But their only response was to send down a bunch of children... Was it because they truly saw those kids as disposable? Or because they knew I wouldn't have it in me to let them come to serious harm? *sigh*
Navia
The Fortress of Meropide works with Spina di Rosula on some matters regarding supplies and logistics, but we don't have any other dealings. This isn't because I don't trust Navia or her abilities, in fact, I hold her in quite high regard. The only reason we continue to stay out of each other's way is because I wanna honor the agreement I made with the late Mr. Callas.
Emilie
The Fortress of Meropide doesn't need her services. Yet some things are best preserved the way they are, warts and all, so people don't make the same mistakes twice... I say warts, but yeah. I mean the smell.
Chevreuse
Most inmates seem to gain a new level of respect for the rules after receiving attention from the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol. As the captain, Chevreuse is an instrumental part of that team.
Hobbies & Personality
Wriothesley's Hobbies
Boxing? To me, that's more of a necessity than a hobby. You got some suggestions for actual hobbies?
Wriothesley's Troubles
While I do possess some stereotypical Fontainian looks, when you're an orphan, you can never really be sure where you're from. Who knows, maybe I'll take a dip in the Primordial Sea one of these days just to check...
Favorite Food
I usually take some milk with my coffee and two cubes of sugar with my tea.
Least Favorite Food
Have you ever had one of Sigewinne's milkshakes? The taste that comes to mind is... what's that flavor... desolation.
Feelings About Ascension
Feelings About Ascension: Intro
It is my honor to win your trust.
Feelings About Ascension: Building Up
Uh oh, looks like I'll owe you a favor now.
Feelings About Ascension: Climax
Ha, why do you look even more pleased about this than me?
Feelings About Ascension: Conclusion
I like signs of strength and hope. They give me reassurance that tomorrow will be better than today. This isn't to be pessimistic, but it's impossible for the present to be without its doubts and troubles — that's just the truth. But come hell or high water, if nothing else then at least we'll be able to figure it out together, right?
Receiving a Gift
Receiving a Gift: I
What a perfect blend of flavors. I could have never made this myself.
Receiving a Gift: II
Lovely. I'll be sure to treat you to something next time.
Receiving a Gift: III
Please excuse me, I'm... I'm gonna brew a cup of tea.

Strengths & Weaknesses
- At Lv90, Wriothesley already gets +38,4% CRIT DMG baked into the ascension stat line — no artifacts needed for this part.
- Can restore HP for the team via There Shall Be an Unveiling for Injustice.
- Has Interruption Resistance while using Icefang Rush — hard to stagger or interrupt mid-combo.
- Buffs the whole team's DMG/stats via Redemption for the Suffering, with no elemental restriction on party composition.
- The core mechanic (via There Shall Be a Plea for Justice) scales with HP — HP% is also an easy-to-find substat, and the character usually comes with high survivability too.
- The Normal Attack (via Forceful Fists of Frost) already deals innate Cryo DMG from the start — no need to wait on the Elemental Skill to apply the element.
- Since it scales with HP (via There Shall Be a Plea for Justice), it can't share ATK%-geared artifacts with other DPS — needs a separate HP-focused artifact/weapon set.
- The There Shall Be a Plea for Justice mechanic only triggers once the character's own HP drops below a certain threshold — you must risk low HP to get the effect.
- 5★ (Catalyst) — only available on limited/character-specific banners, not on the standard wish.
Role Rankings
Machine-classified by scanning mechanic keywords in the OFFICIAL skill text (not another site's opinion ranking). Characters whose weapon type is inherently elemental (e.g. catalysts, bows) may not show "Does this well" for On-Field even if they can still be played on-field — this is a limit of text-based detection.
