ZZZ Best F2P Teams — Free Teams With No Limited S-Rank | Zenless Zone Zero

Almost every ZZZ team follows a three-role template: one main DPS (Attack or Anomaly), one Stunner to build Daze and push the enemy into a Stun (opening a bonus-damage window), and one Support / Defense to buff or shred DEF. F2P is missing none of these roles:

• Given for free (Cunning Hares faction): Anby (Electric, Stun), Nicole (Ether, Support), Billy (Physical, Attack).
• Pick one free standard S-Rank: Nekomata (Physical DPS), Soldier 11 (Fire DPS), Koleda (Fire Stun), Lycaon (Ice Stun), Grace (Electric Anomaly) or Rina (Electric Support).
• Easy standard-pool A-Ranks: Corin, Anton, Ben, Soukaku, Piper, Lucy, Seth, Pulchra.

Key tip: many Agents' Core Skills carry an "Additional Ability" that only activates when the team has two Agents of the same Faction OR the same Attribute. So F2P should pair by faction (like a full Cunning Hares squad) or by element (mono-Fire, mono-Electric) to avoid losing that free buff.

This is the team you own from the opening story, no gacha luck required: Billy (DPS) + Anby (Stun) + Nicole (Support). All three are Cunning Hares, so their faction Additional Ability is fully on. Anby builds Daze to Stun the enemy, Nicole shreds DEF and groups mobs, and Billy stands and dumps damage into the Stun window.

The moment you get your free standard S-Rank pick, take Nekomata and drop her into Billy's slot: Nekomata is also Cunning Hares, so the faction buff stays intact while her damage is far higher. For a Bangboo, a Cunning Hares team loves Amillion (it buffs same-faction Agents' CRIT DMG); if you don't have it, an energy-regen Bangboo like Butler works for any team. This squad carries you through the whole story and the early endgame tiers.

Once you have your free standard S-Rank, invest into a single element axis instead of spreading thin. The four F2P axes:

• Physical — strongest & easiest: Nekomata + Anby + Nicole (full Cunning Hares). This is the first free team worth pouring resources into.
• Fire — mono-Fire: Soldier 11 (DPS) + Koleda (Fire Stun) + Lucy (ATK buff). No Koleda yet? Use Ben — the free Fire Defender who shields the team through hard stages and adds some fire damage. The whole team shares the Fire Attribute, so the Additional Ability still fires.
• Electric — mono-Electric Anomaly: Grace (Anomaly) + Rina (Support) + Anby (Stun). Grace applies Shock, Rina adds DEF-piercing PEN, Anby keeps the Stun up. Shared Electric Attribute.
• Ice — a weak F2P axis: there's no strong standard Ice DPS. If you plan to go Ice, pick Lycaon as your free S-Rank — he's the top Ice Stunner, held for when you later pull an Ice DPS (Ellen, Hugo, Miyabi...).

A F2P team only shines when you farm the right Drive Disc set and slot a sensible W-Engine. Prioritise materials in order: main DPS → Stunner → Support. Practical targets (use these to clear mid star counts in Shiyu Defense / Deadly Assault):

• Nekomata (Physical DPS): 4pc Woodpecker Electro + 2pc Puffer Electro (a self-sufficient set, no Assault partner needed). Discs: 4 CRIT Rate/DMG · 5 Physical DMG · 6 ATK%. Accessible W-Engine: Cannon Rotor (A-Rank).
• Soldier 11 (Fire DPS): 4pc Woodpecker Electro + 2pc Inferno Metal. Discs: 4 CRIT · 5 Fire DMG · 6 ATK%. Accessible W-Engine: Starlight Engine Replica (A-Rank event reward).
• Grace (Electric Anomaly): 4pc Thunder Metal + 2pc Freedom Blues. Discs: 4 Anomaly Proficiency · 5 Electric DMG · 6 ATK%. Stack Anomaly Proficiency, not CRIT.
• Anby / Koleda (Stun): 4pc Swing Jazz (or 4pc Shockstar Disco for Koleda) + 2pc Shockstar Disco. Slot-6 main = Impact. Prioritise Impact substats to build Daze fast.
• Nicole / Lucy / Rina (Support): 4pc Swing Jazz + a 2pc to taste; slot-6 = Energy Regen. Nicole: ATK%/Ether DMG; Lucy: ATK%; Rina: PEN Ratio.

The beauty of the three-role core is that when you hit a limited S-Rank you only swap one slot and keep the rest. Suggestions by role:

• Upgrade the Stun slot: Anby → Qingyi (Electric) or Ju Fufu; Koleda → Lighter (Fire); Lycaon stays a great Ice Stunner, so keep him.
• Upgrade the Support slot: Nicole / Rina → Astra Yao (all-round buffer) or Lucia; Lucy → Astra Yao when you want stronger buffs.
• Upgrade the DPS slot: Nekomata → Jane, Evelyn, Alice, Miyabi... depending on the element you've farmed discs for; Soldier 11 → Evelyn or Burnice (Fire).

Because you farmed discs and W-Engines around one element axis, a same-element limited DPS reuses almost all of that gear — which is exactly why you commit to an axis early instead of spreading out.

1. Spreading resources everywhere. Half-building six Agents means no team clears hard content. Commit to one axis first.

2. Mismatched faction and element. If your team has no two Agents sharing a Faction or an Attribute, you lose the free Additional Ability — a big chunk of buff.

3. Ignoring Bangboo. The Bangboo is your free "fourth member": pick one that fits (Amillion for Cunning Hares, or an energy-regen Bangboo like Butler) for free damage/energy.

4. Farming the wrong Disc set. Correct disc main-stats matter more than raw Agent level; farming the wrong set wastes dozens of runs.

5. Forcing the Ice axis as F2P. There's no strong standard Ice DPS — don't push it; go Physical/Fire/Electric first.
