How combatants work

Every combatant is tied to an element and can equip more than one weapon type, and the weapon changes the whole playstyle — the same character built around a longsword and around dual swords plays like two different units. That is why each combatant page here is organised by weapon first: skills, world passive, combo partners and mastery materials all follow from that choice. Ratings on this site are an editorial read of the current version, cross-checked across independent community sources; the underlying numbers come from the game's own data.

Frequently asked questions

Which combatant should a new player build first?

Build whoever you already own to a usable level before chasing a new one — the team shares a single HP bar, so one over-levelled unit and four weak ones still wipes. Open a combatant page and read the weapon section: pick the weapon whose mechanic you actually enjoy pressing, because you will press it for hours.

Does element matter more than rarity?

Element decides which bursts you can trigger and which resistances you run into, so a well-built off-rarity unit of the right element often clears content that a mis-matched higher rarity cannot. Check the target's weakness on its Bestiary page first, then pick the team.
