Pioneer — Review & Analysis

Pioneer

Pioneer is a 3-star Spirit character built around tanking and utility rather than raw damage. Their basic incantation deals single-target Mental DMG, but the real toolkit revolves around survival and formation control: one skill grants self Taunt while raising both Reality DEF and Mental DEF, and the ultimate hands an ally a shield equal to 50% of Pioneer's Max HP before swapping positions to grant a position-based buff. The defining trait is the forward/backward movement and position-swap mechanic, making Pioneer a piece that manages the lineup more than a damage engine.

Strengths
  • Strong self-sustain: the secondary skill pulls Taunt while raising both Reality DEF and Mental DEF up to 35%, soaking hits for the team.
  • Meaningful support for a 3-star: the ultimate grants a shield worth 50% of Max HP, covering an ally for 2 rounds.
  • Flexible movement and position-swap mechanic lets you rearrange the formation and hand out position-based buffs.
Weaknesses
  • The Spirit afflatus stands outside the counter cycle, so no enemy type gives it a matchup edge either way.
  • As a 3-star tank-utility piece, damage output is weak and much of the value hinges on working the position-swap mechanic correctly; the F tier reflects a narrow role in strong lineups.
Build Priority

Since Pioneer is a tank-utility piece, prioritize leveling the ultimate first (the Max-HP shield and position swap are the core value), then the Taunt/DEF-boost secondary skill for sturdiness; the single-target damage skill comes last. Because the shield scales off Max HP, pick a Psychube geared toward HP/DEF or the survival-support line to fatten your health pool and maximize shield output, rather than an ATK- or Crit-focused Psychube.
