Deck Sleeves in Pokémon TCG Pocket: Full Cosmetic Guide
Sleeves only change how your card backs look — here's every channel to unlock one and how to assign a different sleeve to each deck.
What Sleeves Change (and What They Don't)
A deck sleeve is a purely cosmetic skin applied to the back of every card in a deck. The source guide states this explicitly: sleeves don't affect card strength, so the choice comes down entirely to personal preference, with no competitive trade-off either way.
- Changes the visual design shown on the back of your cards during a match
- Has no effect on card strength, deck performance, or opponent matchmaking
- Is a purely visual, collectible cosmetic — comparable to coins, playmats, or emblems
The 4 Ways to Unlock a Sleeve
The source guide lists a free starter plus four active unlock channels:
- Free starter sleeve — one is given automatically from the start, no unlock needed
- Shop exchange — trade Premium Tickets or Special Shop Tickets, or purchase directly with Poké Gold, usually during a limited-time window
- Mission and event rewards — including time-limited Get Challenge-style events
- Pack-opening milestone — open a set quota of packs from one specific expansion
- Set Pokédex-completion milestone — own every card up to a set rarity threshold within one expansion
Time-Limited Sleeves: What 'Currently Unavailable' Means
Many shop-exchange sleeves are only purchasable during a specific promotional window. Once that window passes, the source shows those sleeves marked as unobtainable — until, if ever, the game reruns a similar offer with the same or a new design.
- Premium Ticket exchanges for a specific character sleeve are frequently time-boxed to a single promotional period
- Once a sleeve shows as unavailable, there's no guaranteed way to unlock it through that same channel again
- Budget your Premium and Special Shop Tickets around sleeves you actually want before their window closes, rather than saving tickets indefinitely
Setting a Different Sleeve per Deck
Sleeves are set per deck, not account-wide, so every deck you own can carry its own look. Equipping one takes four steps:
- Open the deck you want to customize from your card collection screen
- Tap the upper deck-preview area
- Select the accessory/sleeve icon
- Choose your desired sleeve and confirm to save the deck
Because the setting lives on the deck itself, switching between your decks in a match lobby also switches which sleeve your opponent sees.
