ジェナが去った後、部屋にはメインキャラクターとザヴィだけが残る。彼女は彼が言及した「フラックス・ネクサス」について再び尋ねる——ジェナも協会も一切触れておらず、存在すら確認されていないものだ。ザヴィはその名前を知っているとだけ認め、プロトコア・ネクサス、フラックス・ストーン、テラステレとも呼べると言いつつ、詳細については引き続きかわし続ける。近々始まるオニキヌス調査のパートナーに誰を選ぶべきか尋ねられると、ザヴィはきっぱりと、この件には全く関わらない方がいいと忠告する。メインキャラクターは冗談交じりに彼を選ぶことを検討するが、結局断る。信頼できるパートナーとは、常に本当の動機を推し量らなければならない相手であってはならないと説明する——その言葉にザヴィの目に一瞬の悲しみがよぎる。彼女はAdvanced Tech Labsを通じて正式なパートナーマッチングをリクエストすることに決める。ハンターズウォッチのAIはパフォーマンスデータに基づき客観的にザヴィを最適候補と算出するが、ザヴィ自身がそれを遮り、データが「おかしい」と主張する。本章は二人の間の複雑な感情の機微をより深く描き、「プロミス」というテキストメッセージを解放し、03-12から03-14の戦闘章に進む前にザヴィとメインキャラクターの関係を築く一連の章を締めくくる。
