Hitting Union Level 45 unlocks a one-time selector box: choose one 5-star standard weapon at zero cost. This is one of the few guaranteed 5-star weapons every account gets, so the pick matters more than it looks.

• Emerald of Genesis (Sword) — Crit Rate main stat plus Energy Regen substat, useful on nearly every Sword main DPS in the roster.
• Cosmic Ripples (Rectifier) — the safest pick if your strongest character or most-used Rover form uses a Rectifier.

Avoid Lustrous Razor and Abyss Surges in this box. Both exist in the standard pool, but their kits are weaker than the three picks above and weaker still than the 4-star weapons covered later in this guide — so neither is worth locking in your one free selection on.

Refinement rank (R1–R5) comes from pulling duplicate copies of the same weapon on the standard banner; each dupe raises the rank by one, up to R5. All five free selector weapons share the same Energy Regen passive (Stormy Resolution), so the real choice comes down to two things: the secondary stat and what the rest of the passive does.
