Fishing Guide
5 ponds, 4 rods, 5 baits and all 140 fish species.
P5X fishing has 5 ponds, 4 fishing rods, 5 kinds of bait and 140 catchable fish species, all read from the game's own data — every fish here has a confirmed name, either from the official translation or cross-matched against the item database.
All 140 fish species carry a confirmed real name — 59 from the official translation table, 81 cross-matched through the item database where the fishing table had no translation.
Two different fishing systems
Unlocked via the side quest "The Joy of Fishing" (talk to Shichi-kun near Shibuya Station), then playable anytime at Ichigaya. Cast the bobber at the fish shadow's nose; when it bites ("Hit") reel in immediately and keep the bobber inside the red zone — the white zone drives the fish away. Hitting the gauge's edge enough times (durability) makes the attempt fail AND costs your bait; failing right at the Hit moment costs no bait, so anglers deliberately let unwanted fish go to fish-sort on purpose. 3 ponds unlock by Proficiency: the Expert Pond at Proficiency 4, the Challenge Pond at Proficiency 7. Guardian fish need Mysterious Boilie (1,500 Fishing Points) and only bite on a large fish shadow.
This Sea Fishing Cruise event ended on 2026-08-13 10:59 (JST). The section above is kept as a record of how it worked — the regular fishing pond below is still available all year round.
Ver.4.6 summer-event minigame, unlocked at player level 20. Pick 1 of 3 areas — Shallows (2:30), Open Sea (3:30, unlocked Aug 1), Deep Sea (4:30, unlocked Aug 3) — and bring 3 Supporters. Focus regenerates over time and fuels supporter skills; Intuition builds up by catching high-quality fish. Filling the Fish Shoal gauge triggers a speed + rare-fish boost (the gauge stops filling while shoal mode is active). Each cleared area mission adds +10% score. The bite gauge here uses an ORANGE zone for high-quality fish — different from the pond's red zone. Only the Wonder supporter can use a skill mid-reel, so pop skills before casting.
The pond is a permanent, low-stakes minigame you can grind at Ichigaya any day; the Cruise is a limited-time, higher-tempo minigame with a hard deadline, area unlocks, and a Supporter/skill layer the pond doesn't have. Rewards differ too — the pond pays Fishing Points for its own shop, the Cruise pays event currency and a Sea Fishing Level track up to 80.

Guardian fish (ヌシ)
5 special Guardian fish exist in the pond's data — each needs Mysterious Boilie and only bites on a large fish shadow. One entry (Red Sanke Koi) is flagged as not yet open in the current data; the other four are flagged open.
Community-sourced, not verified against official data: player reports from around early August 2026 say only Black Sanke Koi, White Butterfly Koi and Chinook Salmon are currently catchable on global — Moonfish has not appeared yet. Treat this as player reports, not official numbers.
