Obtaining Energy

Particles and OrbsThere are two ways to obtain Elemental Energy: through particles and orbs, or as direct energy. The particles generate a baseline of 1 point of Elemental Energy; Orbs a baseline of 3. Particles can be of one of the 7 elements or can be of clear color. Within the first category, an elemental particle can be of the same element as a character, or of a different one. Also, the character can be on-field or off-field when the particles are caught. These different combinations result in varying energy gained based on the situation, represented in the table below. As an example: If the element of the particle/orb and character are identical, the amount of energy gained will be 300% of its base; for a clear one, 200%; and if their elements differ, 100%. If the character is on-field, they receive the full 100%; if not, just 60% (or 70% or 80% if there are only 3 or 2 members in the party respectively).On-field characterOff-field characterParticle / Orbwith a different element1 pt / 3 pts0.6 pts / 1.8 ptsClear particle / orb2 pts / 6 pts1.2 pts / 3.6 ptsParticle / Orbwith the same element3 pts / 9 pts1.8 pts / 5.4 ptsIn this way, if a clear particle regenerates 2pts of Elemental Energy to the on-field character, with 200% Energy Recharge it will regenerate 4 points (2 x 100% x 200%); and with 150% Energy recharge, 3 points (2 x 100% x 150%).There are many ways to generate particles: Elemental Skills, the Favonius weapons series passive, the Electro Elemental Resonance: High Voltage, and Enemy drops.Elemental SkillsPyro4Cryo2.67 (4th ascension passive: one or two additional particles when one or two enemies are frozen by Kaeya)Electro0 (press)5 (hold)Hydro0Electro3Pyro1 (on Guoba hit)Electro2 (press)4 (using the energy stored)Hydro5Geo3.33Electro0.67 (on each Oz hit)Pyro2.25 (press)3 (hold)Geo0Cryo4Anemo4Anemo2 (press)3 (hold)Geo3.33Anemo2.66Pyro1.33 (on each hit)Cryo0Hydro3.33Electro2.5 (on Slashing or Thunderclap Slash)Anemo3 (press)4 (hold)Pyro4Cryo0.8 (on each Icy Paw)Hydro1 (on Riptide Slash or Riptide Flash; CD 3s)Pyro4Geo0.5 (on Stone Stele resonance hit; CD 1.5s)Geo0.67 (on Transient Blossoms proc; CD 2s)Cryo2 (on Ice Lotus initial hit)2 (on Ice Lotus explosion hit)Anemo3Pyro2.5 (on Pyro converted attack; CD 5s)Cryo3Pyro3Cryo1.5 (press)2.5 (hold)Anemo3 (press)4 (hold)Electro1Cryo4.5Anemo2 (on Fuufuu Whirlwind Kick hit)1 (on Fuufuu Windwheel hit; CD 3s)Pyro1 (on Pyro converted attack; CD 2s)Cryo5Electro3Electro0.5 (on coordinated attack)Hydro0.66Pyro3.5Geo2Geo3.5Geo2 (press)2.5 (on Charge Lv.1)3 (on Charge Lv.2)Cryo3 (press)4 (hold)Electro1 (CD 2.5s)Hydro1.5 (on Hydro converted attack; CD 2.5s)Hydro4Electro0.45 (CD 0.2s)Anemo2 (with 0-1 stacks)2.5 (with 2-3 stacks)3 (with 4 stacks)Dendro2.5Dendro3Dendro3.5Electro2Hydro2 (press)3 (hold)Electro3 (normal skill hit)1.33 (Mortuary Rite hit, during Ultimate Skill’s state)Hydro1.5 (on activation)1 (on Hydro converted attack)Dendro3 (on Tri-Karma Purification hit; CD 7s)Cryo1.33 (on Night Star; CD 3s)Anemo2 (on Pressurized Collapse Vortex; CD 5.5s)Anemo1 (on Normal Attack or Charged Attack during Elemental Skill state; CD 2s)Dendro1 (on Yuegui hit; CD 1.5s)Dendro1 (on Projection Attack wave; CD 1.6s)Pyro1 (CD 2.5s)Cryo4Dendro2Dendro3.5Dendro3 (on Flipclaw Strike)1 (on Urgent Neko Parcel hit; CD 4s)Hydro3.33Anemo4 (on Enigma Thrust hit)Pyro5Cryo2 (using Upward Thrust on normal state)1 (using Upward Thrust on Burst state)1 (on Shattering Pressure: Level 4)Hydro4Cryo1 (on Normal Attack during Elemental Skill while above 50% HP, or on Enhanced Charged Attack; CD 2s)Cryo3 (press)5 (hold)Hydro1 (on Salon Member hit; CD 2.5s)Geo3.5Pyro4 (CD 10s)Pyro2 (on Charmed Cloudstrider hit; CD 3s)Anemo5 (on Driftcloud Wave hit)Geo1.2 (on Tamoto hit)Pyro5Electro2Electro1 (on Swift Hunt or Impale the Night hit; CD 2s)Hydro4Dendro1 (on Lumidouce Case hit; CD 1.5s)Geo0.66 (on Turbo Twirly hit)Hydro4.5 (on Sharky's Bite first hit)Dendro5 (on Scalespiker Cannon first hit)Geo4Electro3Anemo5 (on first Shadowhunt Shell hit per skill)Pyro1 (on Blazing Threshold or Scorching Threshold hit; CD 2.9s)Pyro5 (on All-Fire Armaments summoning hit)Cryo5 (on Obsidian Tzitzimitl calling hit)Anemo3Anemo1 (on each hits of her Skill; max.4)Electro3Electro4Cryo4 (on Skill activation)Anemo4 (on first Tonicshot hit)Cryo4 (on Havoc: Ruin hit, or on first hit during Seven-Phase Flash mode; CD 15s)Hydro3 (on Shower explosion)Electro1 (on each Birgitta hit, not a 100% chance)Dendro1-2 (on Frostgrove Sanctuary hit; ~3s CD)Hydro3Electro1 (on Normal Attack hits during his Manifest Flame form; CD 2s)Dendro2-3Anemo / Geo / Electro / Dendro / Hydro / Pyro1Anemo4 (on Skill hit)Pyro4Hydro1.33 (on Gravity Ripple: Continuous DMG hits; CD 4s)Geo4.5Geo1 (on Normal Attack and Skill hits during her Lunar Phase Shift mode; CD 2s)Anemo6 (on Skill activation)Geo3 (on Lumi Million Ton Crush hit, and after the second Lumi Pound-Pound Pummeler hit if at least one of them hit an enemy; CD 9s)Pyro5Anemo5Cryo1 (on Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, Plunging Attacks, or Etched Into Bone and Soul hit while in Masterstroke mode; CD 2s)Cryo1 (on Condensed beam or 2nd Prism Shot hit; CD 2.5s)Favonius weaponsThe Favonius weapon-series generates 3 clear particles when the conditions are met: the weapon holder must be on-field when dealing a critical hit (with an additional probability and a Internal Cooldown, both of them depending on the weapon refinement).Electro Elemental Resonance: High VoltageTriggering an Electro-related Elemental Reaction will generate an Electro particle, with a Cooldown of 5 seconds (see more here: ).Enemy dropsAll enemies drop a particle/orb when defeated and usually an elemental one according to the enemy element. Some enemies drop particles when reaching a fixed amount of HP lost. Slimes - drops an elemental particle when they lose 40% of their Max HP. Instead, the smaller fungus do not drop any other particle but the last one after being defeated.Excluding weekly bosses, this mechanism is fixed for each enemy. Some enemies drop energy particles when reaching 25%, 50% and 75% of their Max HP, one particle each time (like Abyss Mages and Primal Constructs), others an orb (like Ruin Guards), others three orbs (like Lawachurls)."Direct" EnergyAny form of direct energy gained will not be affected by the Energy Recharge attribute for the receiving character. In some cases, the restored value may directly be dependent from a characters ER% stat, however, the ER% stat is only relevant when energy is gained as elemental orbs/particles.Normal AttacksEvery Normal Attack and Charged Attack that hits an enemy has a probability to generate 1 Energy point, and if it fails, this probability becomes higher for the next hit. When generated, the probability returns to its base.Weapon typeBase probabilityProbability increase per failBow0%+5%Catalyst0%+10%Claymore0%+10%Polearm0%+4%Sword10%+5%Energy generation effectsThere are some abilities (talents and constellations) that can generate Energy directly. For example, the Electro Traveler Elemental Skill and Burst, and their Constellation 4th and 6th.The bonus of some artifacts' sets have the same effect:4-Piece SetUsing an Elemental Burst regenerates 2 Energy for all party members (excluding the wearer) every 2s for 6s.4-Piece SetGaining Elemental Particles or Orbs gives 3 Energy to all party members who have a bow or a catalyst equipped.2-Piece SetWhen a nearby party member triggers a Nightsoul Burst, the equipping character regenerates 6 Energy. Also, many weapons have this Energy generation effect:Using an Elemental Burst regenerates 4/4.5/5/5.5/6 Energy every 2s for 6s.After casting an Elemental Skill, gain 1 Succession Seed. This effect can be triggered once every 5s. The Succession Seed lasts for 30s. Up to 3 Succession Seeds may exist simultaneously. After using an Elemental Burst, all Succession Seeds are consumed and after 2s, the character regenerates 6/7.5/9/10.5/12 Energy for each seed consumed. After Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the character loses 3 Energy but regenerates 3/3.5/4/4.5/5 Energy every 2s for the next 6s. This effect can occur once every 10s. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field. After Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the character loses 3 Energy but regenerates 3/3.5/4/4.5/5 Energy every 2s for the next 6s. This effect can occur once every 10s. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field. For 12s after using an Elemental Burst, Normal Attacks that hit opponents will restore 0.6 Energy. Energy can be restored this way once every 0.1s.For 3s after using an Elemental Burst or creating a shield, the equipping character can gain the Primordial Jade Regalia effect: Restore 4.5/5/5.5/6/6.5 Energy every 2.5s.When the wielder is healed, restore 8/10/12/14/16 Energy. This effect can be triggered once every 10s, and can occur even when the character is not on the field. When current HP increases or decreases, Charged Attack DMG will be increased by 14%/18%/22%/26%/30% for 4s. Max 3 stacks. This effect can be triggered once every 0.3s. When the character has 3 stacks or a third stack's duration refreshes, 8/9/10/11/12 Energy will be restored. This Energy restoration effect can be triggered once every 12s.When the wielder is healed or heals others, they will gain a Stoic's Symbol that lasts 30s, up to a maximum of 3 Symbols. When using their Elemental Skill or Burst, all Symbols will be consumed and the Roused effect will be granted for 10s. 2s after the effect occurs, for each Symbol consumed 2/2.5/3/3.5/4 Energy will be restored for said character. The Roused effect can be triggered once every 15s, and Symbols can be gained even when the character is not on the field. When nearby party members hit opponents with Plunging Attacks, they will restore 2.5/2.75/3/3.25/3.5 Energy to the equipping character. Energy can be restored this way every 0.7s.When the wielder performs healing, restore 8/10/12/14/16 Energy. This effect can be triggered once every 10s and can occur even when the character is not on the field. After the equipping character triggers Burning on an opponent or deals Dendro DMG to Burning opponents, the DMG dealt is increased by 18%/23%/28%/33%/38%. This effect lasts for 8s, max 2 stacks. When 2 stacks are reached or when the duration is refreshed at 2 stacks, restore 12/13/14/15/16 Energy. Energy can be restored this way once every 12s. The 2 aforementioned effects can be triggered even when the character is off-field.When Electro-Charged, Lunar-Charged, Bloom, or Lunar-Bloom is triggered, restore 12/15/18/21/24 Elemental Energy and increase Elemental Mastery by 60/75/90/105/120 for 15 seconds. This effect can be triggered once every 15s and can be triggered even when the equipping character is off-field.For 3.5s after using an Elemental Burst, the equipping character's Lunar-Charged DMG dealt to opponents is increased by 36%/48%/60%/72%/84%. Additionally, after triggering a Lunar-Charged reaction, the equipping character will gain Requiem of Ruin: CRIT DMG is increased by 28%/35%/42%/48%/56% for 6s. They will also regain 12/13/14/15/16 Elemental Energy. Elemental Energy can be restored this way once every 14s.Max HP increases by 10%/12%/14%/16%/18%.When triggering Lunar reactions or inflicting Lunar Reaction DMG on opponents, the equipping character will recover 14/15/16/17/18 Energy, and receive the Bountiful Sea's Sacred Wine effect for 12s: Max HP increases by an additional 14%/16%/18%/20%/22%, CRIT DMG from Lunar Reaction DMG increases by 60%/80%/100%/120%/140%.The Energy recovery effect can be triggered at most once every 18s, and can be triggered even when the equipping character is off-field.When the equipping character creates a Shield, they will also gain "Guide's Contentment": Restores 14/15/16/17/18 Elemental Energy to the equipping character. The aforementioned effect can trigger once every 14s, and can also be triggered when any type of chest is opened outside of combat. The equipping character may trigger this effect even when they are an off-field.Energy drain effectsActivating the Elemental Burst or being defeated isn’t the only way in which the Energy is consumed or lost. There are some weapons, artifacts and enemies with this ability; and even some domains or challenges have it too.4-Piece SetWhen casting an Elemental Skill, if the character has 15 or more Energy, they lose 15 Energy and Normal/Charged/Plunging Attack DMG is increased by 50% for 10s. This effect will not trigger again during that duration. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field.1st Ascension passiveWhen Aiming, the charging time is decreased by 0.285s based on each point of Sethos's current Elemental Energy. Charging time can be reduced to a minimum of 0.3s through this method and a maximum of 20 Energy can be tallied. If a Shadowpiercing Shot is fired, consume the tallied amount of Elemental Energy; if it is a Charge Level 1 shot, then consume 50% of the tallied amount of Elemental Energy. It possesses some ability to disrupt elemental powers, and some of its attacks will drain characters' Elemental Energy when dealing DMG to them. While Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto is in the Baleful Shadowlord form, active characters will lose Elemental Energy at intervals. When it faces strong foes, it will use its powerful Cleansing Shower. Characters hit by this attack will lose a certain amount of Elemental Energy. If they do not have sufficient Elemental Energy, they will lose HP.When Shouki no Kami's Setsuna Shoumetsu is descending and characters are immobilized, all party members will have their energy fully drained. In battle, the Wayob Manifestation will deploy its Arena: Moment of Trial, creating a shield for itself and absorbing the Elemental Energy of all characters in the Arena. After absorbing nearby Slimes, while the Prism Slime is preparing to change its element and the progress bar is incomplete, the active character's Elemental Energy is constantly absorbed.
