Quick verdict

Worth pulling if you have Ye Shunguang or an Angels of Delusion team, since she's their most natural support with long-term ATK buffs and Ether Veil. Outside those teams she's pickier than generic ATK supports, and you have to build to ~3500 ATK to unlock her full utility, so she demands fairly heavy disc investment.

Stat targets

Core threshold: aim for ~3,500 INITIAL ATK on Sunna, because her Core Skill shares squad ATK equal to 30% of her initial ATK, capped at +1,050 ATK — below this the team buff falls short. Since she is the most energy-hungry of the supports, invest enough Energy Regen to reliably fire her EX Special every time she enters (M1 removes this bottleneck). Suggested main stats: Disc 4 ATK% (or Energy Regen) · Disc 5 ATK% · Disc 6 ATK% / Energy Regen. Substat priority: ATK% > flat ATK > Energy Regen. She does NOT need CRIT since she isn't a primary damage source. (numbers +; beyond the ATK/ER thresholds the rest is qualitative.)

Rotation & combos

1) ON ENTRY: use EX Special (Bubblegum Barrage) to grant the whole squad Angelic Chord-ination for 40s and trigger Quick Assist. 2) Chain the second EX Special (Special Photography Technique) while Angelic Chord-ination is active to raise Ether Veil: Delusion Reprise — +50 ATK to all squad members for 40s (per genshin-builds). 3) Quick-swap to your carry (Ye Shunguang / Aria / an Attack agent) so they hit the Cat's-Gaze-marked target for the bonus damage: Attack chars ~300% ATK, Anomaly chars ~480% ATK with guaranteed CRIT + 150% CRIT DMG (per). 4) When Decibel is full, cast the Ultimate (Smash It All!) to heal the squad and gain 6 Claw Sharpeners, then loop from step 1. Core idea: she's a short-stay support built around casting EX EVERY rotation to keep Ether Veil and the ATK buff from lapsing.

Pros
  • Teamwide ATK buff scaling off her own initial ATK (up to +1,050 ATK) plus +50 ATK from Ether Veil — a thick damage floor for both Attack and Anomaly carries.
  • Cat's Gaze turns each carry hit into bonus damage: Anomaly agents get guaranteed CRIT + 150% CRIT DMG, a rare mechanic that lets anomaly teams tap into CRIT.
  • Broad support utility: her Ult heals the whole squad (~2,950 HP), and with Attack / same-faction allies she grants +30% Stun DMG Multiplier — sustaining the team while padding stun-window burst.
  • The best-fit support for Ye Shunguang and full Angels of Delusion teams (Aria, Nangong Yu) — Ether Veil ramps those carries into their strong states faster.
Cons
  • The most energy-hungry of the supports — her whole kit hinges on casting EX Special every rotation, so without Energy Regen the buffs lapse (M1 or an energy W-engine is nearly required).
  • Stat-demanding: needs ~3,500 initial ATK to unlock the full buff (the +1,050 ATK cap), which asks for heavy ATK disc farming — below the threshold the team visibly loses damage.
  • Her peak value is gated behind Attack / same-faction Angels of Delusion teams (her Additional Ability is conditional); outside those comps she's pickier than a generic ATK support.

Endgame mode fit

Shiyu Defense

In Shiyu Defense, Sunna's score follows the carry she enables — she shines most in single-target burst teams around Ye Shunguang or a full Angels of Delusion comp, where the +1,050 ATK, Ether Veil and Cat's Gaze all funnel onto one target for a fast in-window kill. Outside those tailored teams she's usable but her edge over a generic ATK support narrows. (qualitative; new agent, no stable score table yet.)

Deadly Assault

In Deadly Assault against multiple high-HP foes, Cat's Gaze turns every carry hit into bonus damage and her Ult's squad heal (~2,950 HP) helps survive the heavy waves — she's a reliable enabler for Anomaly (Aria) or Attack teams. The score leans on the carry, but her long 40s buffs suit this mode's drawn-out fights. (qualitative.)

Core Skill2

Core Passive: Cuteness Is Justice
Characters in the Angelic Chord-ination state gain increased ATK, equal to 30% of Sunna's initial ATK, up to a maximum of 525 ATK. When Sunna's initial ATK reaches 1,750, the ATK bonus granted to all squad members reaches its maximum. When attacks from Basic Attack: Naughty Cat Spotted, EX Special Attack: Bubblegum Barrage, EX Special Attack: Special Photography Technique, Chain Attack: Don't Mess With the Cat, or Ultimate: Smash It All! hit an enemy, apply Cat's Gaze to the target for 12s. While Sunna is the currently active character, the duration of Cat's Gaze is continuously refreshed. Some normal enemies affected by Cat's Gaze show reduced aggression toward Sunna. When Attack or Anomaly characters in the squad continuously land attacks on enemies affected by Cat's Gaze, Cat's Gaze is triggered and removed: When triggered by an Attack character, deals the Agent's Attribute DMG equal to 150% of ATK to enemies in an area. When triggered by an Anomaly character, deals the Agent's Attribute DMG equal to 240% of ATK to enemies in an area. This DMG is guaranteed to CRIT, and the CRIT DMG is increased by 80%. DMG dealt by Cat's Gaze is treated as DMG dealt by the triggering Agent. When multiple enemies on the field have Cat's Gaze, only the primary attack target's Cat's Gaze is triggered. Upon triggering, Cat's Gaze is removed from all enemies on the field. When an enemy is Stunned, the number of attacks required to trigger Cat's Gaze is significantly reduced.

Additional Ability: Daydreamer's Counterpoint
When another character in your squad is an Attack character or shares the same Faction: When characters inside Ether Veil: Delusion Reprise land attacks on enemies, the target's Stun DMG Multiplier increases by 30% for 40s. When Sunna enters the battlefield, she gains 15 Energy. In Investigation Zone mode, the effect can trigger once every 180s.*Stats shown are at Base level.

Mindscapes — how far is worth it?

M1 Loneliness Corruption Symptoms Worth it

When Sunna enters the battlefield, she gains 15 Energy. In Investigation Zone Mode, this effect can trigger once every 180s. When Cat's Gaze triggers and damages an enemy, the target's DEF is reduced by 7% for 40s, stacking up to 3 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately. It didn't matter if no one understood her. As long as she had music, that was enough. It didn't matter if no one ever talked to her first, either. She'd never expected them to anyway... Being surrounded by people made her so nervous that she fled the world, using delusions to fill the empty space it left behind. She was the master of her own tiny realm, setting up "keep out" warnings at the edges, then painting everything bright with music. "I'm not like them. I—I'm a lonely genius!" She puffed out her cheeks and quietly wiped away the lonely tear that slipped from the corner of her eye.

M2 Feline Go-With-the-Flow Worth it

While Sunna is within any Ether Veil, all squad members gain 10% ATK and she obtains 1 Claw Sharpener every 10s. The number of attacks required to trigger Cat's Gaze is reduced, and the DMG Multiplier on trigger is increased: When triggered by an Attack character, the DMG Multiplier is increased by 200%. When triggered by an Anomaly character, the DMG Multiplier is increased by 300%. "That kid's an odd one, always humming strange songs alone in the corner..." Having heard such remarks all her life, she stopped hoping for any other kind of judgment. Then, one warm and gentle afternoon, a dark-haired girl stretched her hand out like an angel. Ah... so she had always been seeking this sense of being understood. Always... waiting for someone she could call a friend. Even having grown accustomed to loneliness from endless practice, humans are still, in the end, social animals. That person lifted her out of damp, clinging solitude, and from then on, she had a shelter made of feathers.

M3 Transformation Apple Low value

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2 She has never before received praise from so many strangers. "Those gentle songs gave me strength." "Finding music I could resonate with at my saddest moment was so moving..." "This style of music is so cute!!" The girl stares nervously at the screen. The small red dot marking new messages quivers along with her heartbeat, as she opens the same window over and over again— Just a little more... just a few more people seeing my music... a few more people seeing me, someone who's good for nothing but writing music... When Sunna uses her Ultimate, all squad members deal 18% increased DMG for 60s. From being dragged out the door by Nangong to signing her name on that contract... to the girl, the entire day passed as swiftly as a flash of summer lightning cutting through a rainy night. Like a dream, like playing house... in the end, it all belonged to the realm of "delusion." The moment they walked out, they were no longer three separate individuals, but a group: the Angels of Delusion. And the moment she walked out, she stopped being only Sunna, the songwriter working behind the scenes, and became an idol standing before her fans, expressing herself onstage. —This overwhelming delusion descending upon her was the most incredible gift she had ever known.

M5 Galaxy Tramway Low value

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2 The stars were strung across the night like gas lamps lit at dusk. She imagined that somewhere in the vast galaxy, someone was driving a clattering electric tram, setting off from pale morning light and heading straight toward infinity. The passengers were all adorable little creatures like cats, dogs, and bunnies, and the conductor was fluent in the languages of deep-sea fish and owls. Leaving behind the rush of everyday life, stepping away from mundane routines— "If I could borrow the wings of the Angels of Delusion, maybe I could bring everyone into a world of music like this!" Surrounded by the sugary aroma of a scented candle, she stretched with a soft yawn, then wrote this romantic dream onto the sheet music.

M6 Hollow Big Bang Worth it

When Sunna uses an EX Special Attack, she enters the Focused Creation! state for 8s. While in the Focused Creation! state, all attacks Sunna performs are guaranteed to CRIT, and her CRIT DMG increases by 0.03% of her initial ATK, up to a maximum of 105%. While in the Focused Creation! state, Sunna's Anti-Interrupt Level is increased, and DMG taken is reduced by 40%. While in the Focused Creation! state, Sunna can trigger Cat's Gaze, its DMG being calculated using Attack Agent rules. If Cat's Gaze is triggered while Sunna has a Claw Sharpener, the Claw Sharpener is immediately consumed, and Cat's Gaze is reapplied to the enemy. While in the Focused Creation! state, DMG dealt when any squad member triggers Cat's Gaze increases by 50%. "Why did you choose to step onto the stage?" 'Was it for the fans? For the glory under the spotlight? Or for that version of yourself who stayed in the corner, watching others play, too afraid to step forward? Maybe it was all of those. Or maybe it was none of them. All the girl knew was that the moment she gripped the microphone, her heartbeat would slow, and the world around her would fall quiet... until the drums kicked in, and the music rippled across the stage. In that split second, music's gentle light illuminated the time they all shared together. It felt as if they were angels, with wings capable of carrying everyone away from "the here and now."

Background & Lore

Sunna is a member of the Angels of Delusion idol group and the composer behind all of the group's music. Maintaining top-tier songwriting while keeping pace with rehearsals and stage performances is anything but easy for her. When the pressure piles up, she occasionally employs the tactic of "retreat is the best option" to dodge Captain Nangong Yu's brutal scheduling. Note: Reliable intelligence suggests that this tactic works largely because Nangong Yu intentionally lets it slide. Sunna and Nangong Yu, another member of the Angels of Delusion, have known each other since they were young and grew up together. While they appear to always squabble, the two are in fact deeply dependent on one another. When it comes to music, Sunna shares a strong connection with their final member, Aria. As Aria puts it, the two frequently spend whole days in the studio discussing melodies for new songs, only to drift off to sleep without even realizing it, heads resting against each other. Sunna is fairly introverted and prefers spending time alone over group activities. That said, her two teammates know her weaknesses all too well — she finds it hard to say no and can't handle praise — and are helping her gradually overcome her social anxiety through desensitization training (progress: about 25%). While most fans see Sunna's "hopeless" side as endearing, she herself seems eager to tear off that label and become a confident, "proper idol." As the creative force behind the music, she often wants to flee the stage — yet in truth, she's not as indifferent to performing as she claims to be. Evidence: A sticky note by Sunna's bedside that reads "I can't disappoint the fans. I need to give them my very best on stage!" Increase Trust to Close to unlock more. Sunna has a weakness for sweets that look cute, which often leads her to buy treats that are all looks and far too sugary — something Nangong never misses a chance to tease her about. Even so, when Nangong and Aria pick out gifts for Sunna, they always settle on cupcakes with colorful, eye-catching designs. Sunna also loves things with gentle, fragrant scents and often makes scented candles herself, as they help her focus her thoughts and spark inspiration. Once she enters her own "musical kingdom," she becomes so absorbed that she can barely hear anything from the outside world. Note: According to Aria, Sunna once burned Nangong's limited-edition teapot dry while writing a song. To make it up to her, Sunna spent more than two weeks serving tea and running errands for Nangong as an apology. Belle Sometimes Sunna reminds me of some kind of rare creature in a game — she only spawns under very specific conditions! Last time, I had to bug her for a whole week just to get her to go clothes shopping with me! Wise Yeah, I've had my fair share of Belle's nonstop badgering... I bet Sunna couldn't handle it either.

How to read this build page

Every Agent build page has 4 parts: a stat table by level, W-Engine/Drive Disc suggestions, a Mindscape roadmap, and recommended teams. Read them in that order — stats tell you "what you need", gear tells you "where to get it", Mindscape tells you "is it worth pulling", teams tell you "who to pair with". The section below explains how to read each part, and it applies the same way to every character on the site.

How to read the stat table and level

The stat table shows values at the ascension breakpoints (usually the final one, e.g. Lv60) — these are BASE stats with no gear added, useful for comparing Agents or checking whether you've ascended far enough. CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG are shown separately because they set the damage ceiling once Drive Disc substats stack on top. If your real stats are lower than the table, you likely haven't fully ascended or leveled yet — it's not a build mistake.

Why the W-Engine and Drive Disc picks make sense

Most Agents have a "signature" W-Engine designed for their exact role, plus a few cheaper standard-banner substitutes. Missing the signature isn't a dead end — most Agents keep most of their power with a well-matched substitute, just short by some amount of total damage.

  • Drive Disc sets (2pc + 4pc) are picked for the set effect that fits that Agent's playstyle (mono-element, Anomaly, stun, and so on).
  • Substats follow a priority that changes by role: Attack-type Agents usually chase CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG before ATK%; Anomaly-type Agents add Anomaly Proficiency to that mix; Stun/Support roles often value survivability or energy stats over pure CRIT.

These weights differ per character — follow the exact substat priority table above rather than applying one formula to every role.

Is Mindscape worth chasing

General rule: M0 (no duplicates) already clears the game's hardest content, even for S-rank Agents. Mindscape is a duplicate-fueled upgrade system, and each level costs more resources for a smaller power gain. For most Agents, the best value stop is usually M1–M2 (where some key effects unlock), while M6 is almost always for players chasing the absolute ceiling, not a requirement. Check the Mindscape section in the table above for that specific Agent's numbers.

Skill priority by role

There's no single order for every Agent, but the general pattern by role is:

  • Attack: level the main damage skill first (Basic or Special Attack depending on kit), Dash/Dodge last.
  • Stun: prioritize whichever skill builds Daze/Stun fastest, since the stun window is where the whole team dumps damage.
  • Support: prioritize buff or energy-generating skills over personal damage — this role's value comes from lifting the whole team.
  • Anomaly: prioritize the skill that stacks anomaly buildup, since most of the damage comes from the triggered effect, not the direct hit.

Always level the Core Skill steadily alongside the rest — it's a baseline stat that affects the whole rotation, not just one move.

Sunna FAQ

What is the best W-Engine for Sunna?

Sunna performs best with Thoughtbop. See alternatives and required stats in the Gear section above.

Is Sunna worth pulling?

Worth pulling if you have Ye Shunguang or an Angels of Delusion team, since she's their most natural support with long-term ATK buffs and Ether Veil. Outside those teams she's pickier than generic ATK supports, and you have to build to ~3500 ATK to unlock her full utility, so she demands fairly heavy disc investment.

What is the best team for Sunna?

Sunna works best in the Ye Shunguang carry team. Full members and rotation are in the Teams section.

Who voices Sunna in Zenless Zone Zero?

Sunna (faction Angels of Delusion, birthday July 18) is voiced according to the official credits published on the HoYoverse Wiki. See the full English/Japanese/Korean/Chinese voice actor list in the "Voice Actors & Character Info" block above — this data is pulled directly from the official wiki, not guessed.

Which Mindscape of Sunna is worth investing in?

Sunna has 6 Mindscape tiers (M1-M6), each unlocking its own effect detailed in the "Mindscape" block above (official wording). Mindscapes cost Mindscape Cinema currency farmed from limited banners, so weigh it against your budget — F2P players usually stop at M0-M1 and prioritize W-Engine and Drive Discs before pushing Mindscape higher.

How much Denny and how many materials to level Sunna to Lv60?

Leveling Sunna to max Lv60 (ascension + basic skills to 12 + core skill A→F) costs roughly 1,706,000 Denny, plus role-specific ascension materials, attribute-specific skill chips, high-dimensional data, and weekly boss drops — see the full list with exact quantities in the "Materials Needed" block above, sourced from the game's official leveling tables.
