Genshin Impact Servers and Accounts: What Your UID Prefix Means
What your UID prefix tells you about your server
The first digit of your UID isn't random — it's tied to your server region.
| UID prefix | Server |
|---|---|
| 1–3 | Mainland China |
| 5 | Mainland China, via a different publishing channel |
| 6 | The Americas |
| 7 | Europe |
| 8 | Asia |
| 18 (10-digit UID) | Asia (10-digit UID, see the block below) |
| 9 | Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau |
| 0 | Not confirmed — see the note |
We built the table above by testing dozens of real UIDs through this site's own profile lookup tool — nothing copied from anywhere else. The 0 prefix is rare: we tried several UIDs but couldn't find a single profile to confirm it, so we can't state this one with confidence — if your UID starts with 0, the server info above doesn't apply to you yet.
Why some UIDs have 9 digits and others have 10
As the player count in the Asia region grew, accounts created later were given 10-digit UIDs starting with 18 instead of a single 8. We tested both a 9-digit UID starting with 8 and a 10-digit UID starting with 18 — both belong to the same Asia region. So a 10-digit UID is not an error: it just means the account was created later within that same region.
What happens on a different server — can you play together?
Genshin Impact splits players by regional server (Mainland China, the Americas, Europe, Asia, Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau). Two players on different servers cannot visit each other's world, cannot run the same co-op content together, and account data doesn't automatically move from one server to another. You choose your server once, when you first create your account, and it stays tied to your UID from then on — the publisher has occasionally opened a limited-time server transfer service, but it isn't a permanent, always-available feature. So before creating your first character, pick the server where your friends or the community you want to play with already are.
What else is a UID used for, besides looking up a profile
- Adding friends in-game: enter the correct UID to send a friend request — nothing else is needed.
- Visiting another player's world: use their UID to drop into a friend's world, run co-op content, or trade resources.
- Blocking or reporting: when you need to block a player who's bothering you, the UID makes sure you block the right person.
- Contacting support: when you file an account support request, the publisher always needs your UID to identify the right account.
