What's in this wiki?

This is the root page for every mechanics article about Honkai: Star Rail on GameVika, sorted into four topic groups (Gacha & Resources, Combat, Account progress, Endgame), plus the live calculators (Pity, Damage, Relic-Score, UID Build Viewer) linked straight from each article. No need to memorize separate links — pick what you actually need right now (just starting out, currently gearing up, currently grinding endgame, or just looking up a term) and open the matching group below. Content stays tied to the game's real mechanics, not written once and forgotten.

New to the game? Start with "What a new player should read first" right below. Already playing? Use the four topic groups to jump straight to the article you need instead of scrolling through everything.

What this wiki covers and how to search it

Every mechanics article on this page falls into one of four topic groups, sorted by knowledge type rather than posting date:

  • Gacha & Resources: the Warp system, Pity and the 50/50 rule, banner types, Eidolons and Light Cone Superimposition, plus free resources for F2P players.
  • Combat: the damage formula, the 7 Elements and Break, Skill Points (SP), SPD, and the 4 common team archetypes (Crit, Break, Follow-Up Attack, DoT).
  • Account progress: Paths, Relics, the beginner roadmap, material farming, and progression order (Level, Trace, Ascension, or Relics first).
  • Endgame: the Simulated Universe plus the rotating boss modes, and how to read a tier list across different modes.

Beyond these four groups, the Glossary is the fastest lookup for a single unfamiliar term, and the Tier List has its own link right below this page.

What a new player should read first

Don't wander — follow these four steps in order so early resources aren't wasted:

  1. Learn Paths and Elements before worrying about individual builds: a Path defines a character's team role, while an Element decides who can hit an enemy's Weakness. Get these two axes down before chasing stats.
  2. Follow the Beginner Roadmap: it already lays out what to do from week one through month one, so you don't burn resources on content you don't need yet.
  3. Weigh Rerolling before committing to an account: the Reroll guide spells out whether it's worth it and how to do it if you decide to start over.
  4. Check the Free Characters guide for who to build first if you don't have a limited character yet, then decide whether a Warp banner is worth pulling.

These four steps are enough for someone brand new to Honkai: Star Rail to build a team that clears early-game content on their own.

Articles grouped by gearing needs

If the goal is gearing up one specific character, read in this order to avoid wasting farmed materials:

  • Read the Paths guide to learn the character's role, then the team-building guide to see which archetype (Crit, Break, Follow-Up Attack, DoT) that team runs.
  • Move to the Relic guide and the Relic & Planar sets overview to pick the right set and main stats for that role, instead of upgrading the wrong piece.
  • Read Light Cone Basics and the free F2P Light Cone sources guide if you don't have a signature Cone yet.
  • Check the progression priority guide (Level, Trace, Ascension, or Relics first) so you don't pour resources in the wrong place while your account is still thin.

These articles cross-link each other right in the text — open one, and the related ones are already linked below it.

Articles grouped by endgame and progression needs

For the question "what should I farm today, what content should I run", these articles answer directly:

  • The efficient material farming guide and the Credit farming guide: know where to grind without wasting effort chasing everything at once.
  • The Simulated Universe guide plus the Endgame overview covering the rotating modes currently on the site — Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, Apocalyptic Shadow — each with its own scoring guide. HoYo may add new endgame modes in future versions; when that happens, the Endgame overview article will be updated, no need to memorize a name ahead of time.
  • The tier list reading guide: understand why the same character ranks differently across modes, instead of applying one ranking to every piece of content.
  • The "why can't I clear" checklist: quickly diagnose whether the issue is damage or readiness before pouring more resources into a team.

This group tracks the current patch rather than being written once and left stale.

How this differs from the tool pages

This page is a content map for reading and understanding mechanics; the tool pages (Pity, Damage, Relic-Score, UID Build Viewer) are where you plug in your own account's numbers and get a computed result. The right workflow is to read here first to know what to prioritize, then use a tool to check the exact figure for your own account — the two support each other rather than replace one another. Every wiki article already links to the matching tool right in the text, no need to go searching for it.

FAQ

Where should I start on this wiki?

Start with "What a new player should read first": learn Paths and Elements, follow the Beginner Roadmap, weigh Rerolling, then check the Free Characters guide for who to build first.

How is this wiki different from the tool pages (Pity, Damage...)?

The wiki is for reading and understanding mechanics, while the tools take your own account's numbers and compute a result. Read the wiki first to know what to prioritize, then use a tool to check your exact figures.

Is the wiki content updated with each patch?

Yes. Articles tied to gacha, endgame, and the tier list are reviewed every patch to match current mechanics, rather than being written once and forgotten.

How many endgame modes does Honkai: Star Rail currently have?

The site currently has guides for three rotating boss modes: Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow. HoYo may add new endgame modes in future versions; when that happens, the Endgame overview article on this wiki will be updated.

I'm a low spender with no limited characters yet, does this wiki still help?

Yes. The Free Characters guide points straight to who to build first using standard-pool characters, and "What a new player should read first" shows how to build the right role with exactly what you already own.

Why doesn't this page show exact numbers (article count, character count)?

This root page only routes traffic, avoiding duplicated numbers that drift out of sync after an update. Full, always-current numbers live on each individual article or tool page.
