The ChasmGlaze PeakThe Chasm is a special administrative district of Liyue located west of Lisha. Ever since the area was closed off by the Qixing a few years ago due to a mining incident, a special representative of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Muning, has been managing all activities in the area. When he was young, he spent most of his time at the Yanshang Teahouse, where he was deeply in debt. He had no time to go and did not want to go home, but eventually, the debt collectors found his father in Shenglu Hall, and he paid off the debts. When his father found him, he was living on the streets like a beaten-up dog. Then his father said to him, "I have all your IOUs, so now you're indebted to me." Back when Muning spent his days hiding from debt collectors in fear and unable to sleep, he vowed that he would mend his ways if life gave him a second chance. But he did not expect that chance to come from his father, who was always dissatisfied with his behavior. In order to pay off his debt to his father, Muning joined the Ministry of Civil Affairs. One day, his father was transporting a batch of ore in Shenglu Hall and gave his son a leftover Archaic Stone of poor quality as a toy. Archaic Stones are extremely rare ore that are not easy to find in the mines. The beauty of this magnificent gemstone is beyond imagination, and it is said that if you look inside the Archaic Stone, you will see the finest shimmering rays of light, like the horizon of the sea at dusk. When someone saw the stone in Muning's possession, they offered him a good price for it, and he sold the Archaic Stone to get some Mora. But later, his father asked him about the stone, and he reluctantly answered that he had lost it. After that conversation, Muning could not stop thinking about what would have happened if he had taken out the Archaic Stone in response to the question. During Muning's work at the Ministry, the Huishan Mining Hall became interested in the Archaic Stones and wanted to analyze them, so they sent Muning into The Chasm to get samples, but he was unable to find any. It was only with the help of the Traveler that he was able to obtain nine samples of the Archaic Stones.When The Chasm began to experience unusual tremors from the depths, the Ministry of Civil Affairs ordered an investigation. The "thing" found in The Chasm was so unusual that it could cause panic among the population, and under the orders of the Qixing, a team of researchers and scientists was secretly assembled to conduct an investigation under the cover of a decree prohibiting entry into The Chasm. All this was done in order to delay the crisis brewing underground if necessary. Since Muning is a special representative of the Ministry, he cannot directly ask for help and is not allowed to talk about many of The Chasm's features. Therefore, in order to explain in a roundabout way how to get into The Chasm, he could only "warn" not to do something, and his "can't" actually means "can."At the top of Glaze Peak, the Skyfeather, one of six items needed to open the secret treasury in The Chasm, can be found. In addition, one day, the Adventurers' Guild sent the Traveler and Paimon to help a researcher from Fontaine, Patrice. Patrice was researching Vibro-Crystal Harmonics, the process of stimulating the elemental energy within gems and crystals, and using this elemental power as a source of energy. Not long before, someone in The Chasm tried to activate gems and discovered that a certain wondrous resonance could occur between specialWhen the Transmitter Crystal, one half of the Vibro-Crystal set, is stimulated in a certain way, it releases a certain energy that triggers a resonance with the Receiver Crystal half. The two energies from the Vibro-Crystals stack and multiply one another many, many times over, which Patrice called "harmonics." The researcher developed a hypothesis, but needed help to test this hypothesis in practice. After the mines were closed, the Treasure Hoarders settled in the place, just like they did in The Chasm's Surface. At first, they simply stole ore and Glaze Sand Crystals for smuggling, but then they became so bold that they occupied the old warehouses left by the miners and began making cheap jewelry for sale. Although such low-quality jewelry could only fool gullible tourists who had never been to Liyue or people who only learned from books, the Millelith decided to clear The Chasm of Treasure Hoarders. In order to carry out the operation, a squad of Millelith began posing as Treasure Hoarders. They also learned that the leaders of the Treasure Hoarders were in contact with the Fatui and were possibly preparing a deal related to the trade of dangerous materials. The Millelith informant reported that the Fatui were buying something from the Treasure Hoarders and paying with large amounts of Mora and military supplies, but he only found food and household items, so it was probably a trick to distract them. Just when the undercover squad had everything they needed for a major offensive and were just about to expose them, the soldiers were discovered by the Traveler and Paimon, who mistook them for ordinary Treasure Hoarders. Joining forces, the Traveler and the Millelith went to Lumberpick Valley to capture a food camp in the southeast, a weapons camp in the east, and an alchemy camp in the northeast. By taking these camps by surprise, they completely cut off their supplies and were able to attack the camp where the main transaction between the Fatui and the Treasure Hoarders was to take place. But even after defeating them, the Millelith only found deals in the works to buy food.In the Treasure Hoarders' camp, one of the items needed to open the Millelith's treasury, the Cup of Commons, as well as a fragment of a treasure map leading to the passage between Glaze Peak and Tiangong Gorge, can be found. One day, the Traveler and Paimon met an engineer from the Fontaine Research Institute and a colleague of the researcher Patrice, whom they had met earlier, Anatole. When Patrice had problems with the distribution of the budget and funding for the test site, he took all the remaining funds, the experimental equipment, and disappeared. Everyone said that he was completely tired of the Institute, so he left, taking all Mora with him. But then he showed up as if nothing had happened, and even with the results of an experiment in which he had been helped by the Traveler and Paimon. Since his presence and purpose in The Chasm for the experiment were illegal, and the data obtained was excessively detailed and complete, the Institute decided that the data was pulled out of thin air and sent Anatole to reproduce the experiment. With the help of the Traveler, the results were confirmed, but the head of the Institute declared that there was no economic benefit to the study, and Patrice was unable to obtain further funding. Anatole and Patrice returned to The Chasm to experiment with practical applications for the technology. Patrice came up with the idea of connecting the Receiver Crystal to the rope-pull mechanism that controls the lighting, and then all that would be left to do was remotely activate the Transmitter Crystal to turn off the ceiling light. One day, the dragon attacked miners in The Chasm who were shaking the Ley Lines with ore mining, causing Azhdaha to suffer. The Geo Archon was forced to fight his friend and hid him from people by sealing him underground. Traces of the battle between Rex Lapis and the Dragon Lord are still visible in the Fuao Vale. Short-term earthquakes sometimes occur in The Chasm, which old miners called "Azhdaha's Breath." After the battle between the Geo Archon and Azhdaha, the Dragonfall, an incredibly rare ore used in forging, was born. The majority of regular crystals are formed in high-temperature environments. Dragonfall, on the other hand, is formed as a product of elemental reactions. It is an area with complex terrain, a unique ecosystem, and geological conditions caused by a meteorite impact around six thousand years ago. The surface of The Chasm is full of cliffs, while the underground mines are filled with bottomless gorges and caverns. For centuries, the area was famous for its ore and mineral mining until an accident in the mines forced The Chasm to be closed. Even after the miners evacuated, there were still many elevators, temporary housing, and rock blasting cannons scattered throughout the area. After the miners left The Chasm, they were replaced by the Fatui, who served the Harbinger Pulcinella, and the Treasure Hoarders, who mined the ore in search of quick Mora. In addition, special spoutrocks can be found in the area, caused by the geology and containing air under high pressure. Such rocks make jumps stronger and allow movement on complex and multi-level terrain.In The Chasm's Surface,of the Seven-Star Arrays that seal the entrance to the Underground Mines can be found. Members of the Qixing installed these Bedrock Keys to unite and stabilize the energy flowing through the array. On the cliff, Tang Wuchou, who introduces himself as a true disciple of the 320th Guhua Clan generation, can be met. On one of the peaks, he found several Qingxin flowers growing and took them under his care, intending to build a lovely and great Glaze Lily garden, far from the structures and standards of the norm. When the Traveler and Paimon plucked one of the flowers, the Flower of Farsight, which needed to be offered to the ancient treasury, Tang Wuchou attacked them but was easily defeated. When the Traveler and Paimon did not believe him about belonging to the Guhua Clan because of his Treasure Hoarders' clothes, he showed them a jade pendant as proof. This pendant was sold to him by an old friend when they parted, and as soon as Tang Wuchou began to wear it, an Adeptus appeared to him on the first night and taught him the secret arts of the Guhua Clan. And every time he practiced martial arts, Tang Wuchou felt a slight tingling in his head, which he took as evidence of the development and expansion of consciousness. The Traveler and Paimon realized that because of the strange pendant filled with Geo energy, the man believed that he was a disciple of the Guhua Clan, and this began to drive him crazy. If he continued to wear the pendant and go into a fantasy world, trouble would definitely happen to him. In order to save Tang Wuchou, the Traveler and Paimon exchanged the pendant for a chicken egg, in which the man saw a huge gem.To find out more about the pendant, the Traveler and Paimon approached Old Chou, a jade merchant who offered to help them find hidden treasures. Old Chou and Tang Wuchou were once Treasure Hoarders, but after a profitable deal in The Chasm, their paths diverged. One day, Chou was found by his former colleagues, who threatened to buy up their low-grade jewelry and sell it in Liyue. He was forced to slash his prices and operate at a loss until the Treasure Hoarders were finally arrested by the Millelith with the help of the Traveler. One of the items that Chou sold was a jade pendant. The merchant had hoped to get a fortune for it, but Tang Wuchou took notice and convinced him to sell it for cheap. The pendant's material was imbued with elemental energy, and if a person without a Vision came into contact with it, their personality would change. The description reminded Chou of the legend of "Smaragdus Jadeite." It was rumored that this material was incredibly valuable, but caused certain inconveniences to its owners and concealed ominous omens. Smaragdus Jadeite is one of the treasures of the Adepti, in which their power is contained, and not every person can withstand prolonged contact with this mineral without harm to their health. The "Seven Mountain Treatises" states that this substance springs forth from Stonemarrow within the mountains and will bring disaster to any mere mortals who touch it. Best case scenario, they fall ill, worst-case scenario, they'll suffer great changes in personality, and their illness will only ever get worse. The Traveler and Paimon had already encountered Smaragdus Jadeite once, when they created an abode inside a teapot with the help of the Adeptal powers.To make amends with his old friend, Old Chou offered to dig up the treasure in his field and give it to Tang Wuchou. Although the man thought the treasure was ugly, he promised to take a bottle of wine and go talk to the merchant, and he left the jade pendant with the Traveler as a token of his gratitude. After the Traveler and Paimon rescued a missing miner from The Chasm who had been eating mushrooms for over a year, he went to Cinnabar Cliff and, mistaking Tang Wuchou's Qingxin flowers for mushrooms, began eating them. Thanks to the intervention of the Traveler and Paimon, the conflict was resolved. Tang Wuchou realized that he was guarding Qingxing, not Glaze Lilies, and the miner realized that he was trying to eat flowers, not mushrooms.At the bottom of Cinnabar Cliff is a passage connecting Sumeru and Liyue. On the border of the two nations, you can find the Sumpter Beastlord, a huge Sumpter Beast that scares the living daylights out of anyone who sees it. When it sleeps, it can seem like a few hills, and if one enters its territory, the Sumpter Beast will rush towards the intruder as soon as it sees them.In this location, the World Quest can be found.Related Entries:Tiangong GorgeIn Tiangong Gorge, located in the southern part of The Chasm, two Bedrock Keys that can be destroyed using a cage-shaped Geo formation are located. These natural precipitates began to appear around the Bedrock Keys used to seal The Chasm. They are similar in nature to a "thing" in the depths of the mines, and under the influence of the anomaly, they initiate disintegration. When hit by outside forces powered by a Geogranum, they release crystal projectiles that can destroy the Bedrock Keys. Researchers from the Huishan Hall discovered that these formations absorb the Geo energy of the surrounding environment, gradually weakening the structure of the Bedrock Keys, as if someone were deliberately destroying the Seven-Star Array from the inside. The Qixing sent people to clear these formations twice a month, but they soon reappeared faster and faster.In Tiangong Gorge, the Warrior's Spear, one of the six offerings required to open the Millelith's treasury, can be found. Additionally, on the border of the Gorge and Glaze Peak, a secret passage to the Treasure Hoarders' Vault is located, which their map leads to. The vault itself is located in the northeast of the Main Mining Area. Another passage in the Gorge connects the surface of The Chasm with a cave between the Main Mining Area and Ad-Hoc Main Tunnel.Related Entries:The Chasm's MawAt the center of the crater formed by the meteorite that fell on the lands of Liyue millennia ago, the entrance to the underground mines of The Chasm can be found. Several years ago, miners dug up a "thing" deep within the mines, which led to a serious incident. When the mines were evacuated, a long line of wounded people formed and were carried back to the surface, and the wounded miners were more mentally injured than physically. They recovered after a few days of being brought to the surface, but even this was enough for the Qixing to intervene. The authorities decided to seal the entrance to the mines with a magical barrier, the Seven-Stars Array, and any movement within The Chasm required special permission. When The Chasm exploration team, with the help of Traveler and Paimon, who were sent on behalf of the Adventurers' Guild, destroyed all the Bedrock Keys, the barrier was finally lifted. The fallen Millelith have long since turned into elements and become one with the mine, so when the miners pray for protection, they are also paying homage to The Chasm itself. This memorial is believed to have been erected by a Millelith, who fell from a great height while helping to rescue miners while fighting off enemies. But the soldier did not despair, and instead trained himself as a doctor and helped many others with similar injuries. It is believed that the Flower of Farsight will only make itself known to those with such lofty desires that they might seem crazy to some, and thus is not something ordinary people can witness. The Skyfeather can only be obtained from an eagle on a certain mountaintop, and the Sundial of Ages would be remembered by all, such that time's passage would not cause it to lose its luster. It is said that the Cup of Commons will regain its dignity someday, even if it is obtained by bandits and crooks, or becomes a lowly guest at a humble table, and that the Helm of Warding is said to rest in the room of an ordinary person, yet may not be summoned forth by anyone but a hero. The Warrior's Spear is rumored to have been set up on a lone cliff, awaiting a valiant soul equal to it. Only then will it be content to once again enter time's eternal flow. One of the offerings, the Helm of Warding, can be found near the Millelith Memorial. The stones are inscribed with the names of Millelith warriors in several rows, and below is a message from the Millelith:..."With Liyue behind us, we fought bravely, warriors all — we feared death not, and not an inch did we yield."..."We accomplished the task Rex Lapis gave us, and we did not betray the people's hopes — let this stone be our witness."..."The years may erode all, yet the Millelith shall never be moved."Once all the items have been found, a passage to the Millelith treasury will open, where the soldier's armor and a stone tablet with the inscription will lie:..."During the battle at The Chasm, I lost the use of my four limbs and thus was forced to dictate these words for someone else to record and carve here."......"I survived that fierce battle, but each night where I thought of our fallen comrades was a sleepless one. Let us then share the wine of sworn brotherhood once more, and defend Liyue from its foes!"...In this location, the World Quest can be found.Related Entries:The Chasm: Underground MinesAd-Hoc Main TunnelWhen the Qixing sent an exploration team to study the "thing" below, they set up their first camp in Ad-Hoc Main Tunnel. The party was led and financed by Khedive Pursina, a scholar from the Sumeru Akademiya who had been specially summoned for the expedition. Him being an ecologist of the Amurta Darshan, with his area of study including minerals and biology, meant he might have been interested in photography of fossils, strange objects in the mines' bodies of water, and glowing mushrooms. After completing all the tasks related to these subjects, Khedive gifted the Traveler a letter of introduction to the Akademiya aimed to enlist the help of House of Purbiruni as a token of gratitude. Khedive's tasks were to study the changes that had occurred in the life forms of The Chasm, as well as to study any life forms of paleontological interest. One of these fossils of paleontological interest can be found southeast of the Ad-Hoc Main Tunnel. Since the researcher had to pay the salaries of all the miners in the camp out of his own pocket, it was important for him to achieve success and share the results of his research with the historical community in Liyue.Aside from Khedive, the party included the adventurer Zhiqiong from Mingyun Village. Being from the last generation of miners, she had worked in The Chasm herself and knew it like the back of her hand, so the Ministry of Civil Affairs hired her to map the underground section. When The Chasm was closed due to an accident, the girl became an adventurer. Zhiqiong constantly wondered what significance mere mortals who were not blessed with the gods' grace and perhaps came into this world by accident had compared to those who had the gaze of the gods. They dreamed of continuing to work hard so as not to be entangled in the misery of the poverty of this world, and hoped that the daily efforts and hard work would not be forgotten."Think of those herb gatherers who dangle from the top of the cliffs, miners who work day in and day out despite the potential threat of earthquakes, and workers who drive every nail into a giant ship multiple floors in height... If their hard work is dismissed as mundane and unworthy of remembrance, I can't help but question the gods' logic to favor some of our wishes and dignities over others."Although the adventurer did not possess a Vision, she bravely descended into the dangerous depths of The Chasm to map the places she had visited. Zhiqiong wanted the underground landscapes of the mines to bear her name, and to show ordinary people how far a mortal who was not chosen by the gods could go, and what kind of history they could leave behind.The safety specialist, Jinwu, was in charge of repairing and maintaining the exploration team's equipment. She had been taught everything by her father when she was ten years old: how to set up camp, how to make crystal lamps, and how to operate mining equipment. As her father gradually grew older and his eyes weakened, it fell to her alone to be responsible for the safety of the equipment in the mines. Although she had a daughter of her own, the latter went to study in Sumeru, while Jinwu took care of the children of the miners who had died. She worked in the mines for about twenty years and became a real big sister to the miners, including Zhiqiong. In order to facilitate the exploration of The Chasm, Jinwu gave the Traveler the Lumenstone Adjuvant, which dispels darkness and miasma, destroys mud holes in mines, and lights lamps. The Adjuvant is capable of absorbing the energy from Lucklight Flies, Noctilucous Jade, Lumenstones, and lightstone lamps, and can only be properly used by Vision bearers. The composition of the Lumenstone Adjuvant is similar to the Glaze Sand Crystals and Lumenstone Ore that began to appear in the dark tunnels after the fall of the divine nail. This ore has the magical ability to accumulate energy and emit light, and if listened to closely, sounds similar to sighs can be heard from it. One of the names for this ore is the wishstone, and superstitious miners say that it can miraculously grant a person's wish that they did not even ask for. Lumenspars are similar to Luminous Ore and are a manifestation of the "thing" underground. Due to their structural similarities, crystals, ore, and Adjuvant can resonate with each other, so Jinwu can upgrade the Adjuvant by collecting a certain amount of crystals and ore, allowing it to accumulate more energy and destroy large oozing concretions.The last member of the team was a bard of Mondstadt, Taliesin, who collected inspiration. After all the adventures of the Traveler in The Chasm and the stories of the dark mud and monsters of the Abyss, the azure crystals, the nine Black Serpent Knights, the Fatui in trouble, and the glowing mushrooms, Taliesin composed an epic poem that combined his feelings and aspirations. During Taliesin's stay in The Chasm, a brass ring disappeared from his person. According to the bard, it was foundwhere, according to legend, the shadow dragon Durin fell. Suspecting that the ring had been returned by the weasels, the bard asked for help from the Traveler, and they went to the Treasure Hoarders' camp on Glaze Peak, where the ring was found.In the northwest of Ad-Hoc Main Tunnel, one of the Black Serpent Knights, Skeld, can be found. This ancient, bizarrely shaped autonomous machine was designed in Khaenri'ah more than five hundred years ago and was left behind in The Chasm after the kingdom fell. The gear system on its "head" can grind its way through even the hardest bedrock, and carving out the tunnels with which the forces of this nation might have accessed the whole continent would have been a thing of great ease. The Ruin Serpent is composed of various cubic parts, somewhat reminiscent of elemental Hypostases, and is capable of adapting to its environment. Thus, the automaton began using the Oozing Concretions to store energy and launch missiles. To weaken the Ruin Serpent, the Lumenstone Adjuvant can be used to destroy the dark mud.Not far from the Ruin Serpent, the Black Serpent Knight, Haltaf, who has an Orb of the Blue Depths needed to open the room in the inverted city, can be met.Related Entries:The Chasm: Main Mining AreaThe northeast of The Chasm's underground mines was once the main mining area, but after The Chasm was closed, only the Treasure Hoarders remained there. A strange red-violet gas that explodes with any sort of flash can be found in the mining areas, which is why the mines are illuminated by crystal lamps. Not believing the Treasure Hoarder, the Traveler and Paimon wanted to hand him over to the Millelith, but Clitopho asked to take him with them, promising to make explosives. When they returned to the temporary camp, Jinwu recognized Clitopho as the man who sold the fake medicine "Real Man's Meds" in the mines. The workers bought it and found out that it was just Valberry Jam. Since thefrom Mondstadt, who was supposed to arrive in The Chasm, was imprisoned along with theClitopho was recruited as a demolition expert to clear a passage to the lower levels.After knowing Clitopho better, it turned out that he was put in the cage by the Traveler and Paimon's fault. The man he worked for, Erge, was once a leader of the mining crew in The Chasm, but when it was closed down, Erge was left without a job. But unlike the ordinary but enduring stone of the earth, the fragments of the meteorite that fell from heaven had a proud and agitated temper. Later, when countless gods and rulersthe appointed celestial seats, and the very stars and abyss themselves faded, tragedy and evil embarred the breath of the waters and mountains. The fallen star could bear this no longer, and heedless of the great chasm's persuasions to stay, it leaped away, away towards the heavens. Fortunately, the device was repaired, and the sun shone through the darkness again. Although it was returned to its constant westward cycle, a single piece would forever remain behind. When they moved to the city, they would grind that fragment into crystals and sell it to someone who knew its value.A long time ago, when The Chasm was still known as Yu Valley, an ancient civilization known as Lang-Gan existed there. People harvested the fruits of the field and turned them into sacred wine for honored guests and as an offering to the angel. Every step of the ritual had to be performed so that Zibai would witness the depth of the people’s piety and respect.
