"Children of Echoes"Children of Echoes' SettlementThe Children of Echoes are a tribe living in the Tequemecan Valley and known for their mining, blacksmithing, and dancing. Other tribes usually hire Children of Echoes' mining teams for their mining or excavation tasks outside of the settlement. The tribe's chief, Pacal, prefers not to interfere in the lives of the tribe members but rather to support and protect them. Not far from Pacal is the breeding ground for the tribal companions, Tepetlisaurs. At the end of the month, lists of the best and worst Saurians of the month are posted. For example, Nini was named the Lil' Saurian of the Month because he exposed his belly to everyone, while Mamo was This Month's Naughtiest Lil' Saurian because he fought with other Saurians in the middle of the night, stole food, and sharpened his teeth on potted plants. One of the people caring for the Saurians was Batz, who loved playing music for the growing Tepetlisaurs. One day, he discovered a blueprint for a driftball, which the young Saurians adored, and advised his friend to make one for his Tepetlisaurus, Hora. During the Abyss's attack, Batz rushed to rescue a Saurian trapped in a mine, picking up a weapon for the first time, but never returned. This location houses Muhuru's Gemporium, run by Cheven. Tribe members use phlogiston to process ore and often decorate their weapons with gemstones. The workshop offers a variety of items, including jewelry, gems, tools, and traditional-style weapons. Additionally, it accepts orders for gem cutting and polishing services. Rare gems polished by Xilonen, the finest blacksmith in the Children of Echoes and all of Natlan, are also sometimes sold. Near the shop, Iknal, a miner and TCG player, can be found. Cheven's apprentice Imix sells various ores. One day, Cheven went to the Sulfurous Veins to collect Volcanic Crystals, but after several days, she never returned, and Imix asked the Traveler and Paimon to find her. It turned out that Cheven, the owner of Muhuru's Gemporium, had discovered a new layer of Volcanic Crystals of exceptional purity and was about to return, but the phlogiston within the rock attracted monsters. The craftswoman fled and encountered bandits, but luckily, the Traveler was there to save her. Along the way, she was forced to abandon almost all of her crystals, keeping only the purest one, which she intended to give as a birthday gift to a sick girl from the tribe, Nechca. Not far from Muhuru's Gemporium is another shop, Macuahuitl Workshop. Its owner, Apoxpalon, knows nothing about jewelry making or gem cutting, but he knows how to craft weapons to counter the Abyss. One of the main attractions of the Children of Echoes is the Stage Tepetli, where the "Drillbit Dance" competition is held. These dances once caught the attention of "Dopey Dazzler," an avant-garde artist from the Graffiti Alliance. For Natlanese, fashion, trends, novelty, and similar concepts are synonymous with avant-garde ideas, and the woman wanted more people to embrace the spirit of the avant-garde, weave it into their lives, and change the world with it. Thanks to photographs taken by the Traveler and Paimon, "Dopey Dazzler" gained more creative inspiration. The music on the dance floor is provided by an instrument called the Dance-Off Stage. One day, during the daily competition, the old Dance-Off Stage suddenly malfunctioned. The rhythm and melody of the music became jumbled, producing sharp, piercing sounds that nearly caused one of the dancers, preparing to perform a particularly difficult move, to fall to the floor. While the stage technician was at a loss for how to fix the situation, the music suddenly stabilized, and the dance deck began to work. On stage, the crowd saw the tribe's chief blacksmith, Xilonen, who not only easily repaired the instrument but also played a tune that sent the stunned audience into applause. After the daily Drillbit Dance competition concluded, the organizer visited Xilonen in hopes of persuading her to take on a dual role as both equipment consultant and special DJ for the event. He even offered her a compensation package that was more than generous. But Xilonen declined both the position and the compensation, agreeing only to modify the Dance-Off Stage and associated equipment in her spare time.Another main attraction of the tribe is the Obsidian Totem Pole, the center of the Children of Echoes' tribal beliefs and the symbol of the connection between the tribes and the Night Kingdom. Near the Obsidian Totem Pole, a miner and TCG player, Akeor, can be found. He is the assistant for researcher Tahmures from the Sumeru Akademiya. Since they began excavating together, Akeor has discovered many treasures and has acquired more and more tools to work with.In this location, the World Quest series can be found.Related Entries:Xilonen's WorkshopAt the exit of the tribe's main settlement is the workshop of Xilonen, the best blacksmith and engraver of the Ancient Names. Her inventions include the Pyro Archon's Flamestrider, Kachina's Turbo Twirly, Peacemaker Chasca's Ritual Staff, and phlogiston rollerblades. Xilonen was also able to activate and repair Ineffa's core, which is a part of the personality of one of the Dragonlords. In the eyes of most people from Natlan, tempering tales and forging Ancient Names is a duty without parallel. Xilonen's parents were engravers of Ancient Names, so she, too, began training in the craft. During her studies, she was only interested in the technical side of things, while other students struggled to stay awake and preferred lessons where their elders told them legends of heroes from various tribes. Xilonen, however, had no interest in these stories and, to pass exams, bribed other students with milk candy and asked them to lend her notes. Despite her training, deep down, the girl did not want to become an engraver until her mentor died. After her death, her mentor's story became shrouded in legend and gossip — one moment, she was held up as a paragon of virtue and selflessness, the next, as a pernicious schemer driven purely by ulterior motives. In one version, she was the hero; in the next, a petty villain. The usually relaxed Xilonen suddenly became serious and traveled to all the tribes, asking everyone about the mentor. She needed these documents not only to refute the slanderous stories and malicious rumors about the mentor, but also to dismiss the strange titles that some had bestowed upon her, too. Xilonen wanted only the true, unblemished version to remain. After this, she became an engraver of Ancient Names, taking upon herself the responsibility of telling all the stories. One day, Xilonen saw an unusual phlogiston honey pearl at the market. Typically, pearls are produced by phlogiston aphids and are found everywhere, but these had a strange pattern. Xilonen bought a few for her collection, but after a few days, a nearby potted plant withered. At first, she thought nothing of it, but later overheard Kachina say that several people had fallen ill. As most of them were customers of Cheven's shop, Xilonen decided to open one of the pearls and discovered that it contained a trace amount of Abyssal energy. She explained the situation to Pacal and asked him to collect and destroy all the unusual honey pearls at the market, but the problem needed to be eradicated at its source. The engraver contacted the Saurian hunter, Kinich, who marked all the spots where the Abyss-infected aphids had been found. Thanks to the help of the Traveler and the tribal heroes, all the phlogiston aphids were cleansed. It turned out that these creatures were not infected but had decided to feed on the Abyss to cleanse their homes of it. They flew away and created phlogiston honey pearls that trapped the pollution inside. The pearl's outer shell served as a barrier against pollution, and thus, the aphids cleansed their homes of the Abyssal energy.Related Entries:Settlement EntranceAt the Sumeru entrance to the tribe, there were strange columns. Upon touching them, the Traveler and Paimon found themselves in a subspace where they discovered Rifthounds and a Tepetlisaurus fighting them. Although the Traveler aided the Saurian, it died from its wounds, leaving a trapped Saurian whelp with a strange mark on its horn. After freeing the Tepetlisaurus, the Traveler suddenly saw an Iridescent Inscription, in which someone called them the Chosen of the Dragons. The Traveler and Paimon named the Saurian whelp "Little One," tied a silk scarf around his tail, and decided to take him with them on a journey through Natlan. A man who introduced himself as Manqu, a member of the Saurian Relics Association, helped them to find the truth about the Saurian's mark. Manqu explained that Little One was marked with theBlessing. Initially, the Flamelord channeled light and wisdom through his horn, but over time, the bodies of Xiuhcoatl's descendants became unable to withstand such power. They possessed incredible abilities, but as they grew older, this power either killed them or drove them mad. Legend has it that one must find a token that was split in two and go on a pilgrimage to the Great Volcano of Tollan. There, the tribal warriors could wash away the name of their companion, which the late Xiuhcoatl remembered, and remove the mark. The Traveler and Paimon proved their strength to the tribal chief, Pacal, and he allowed them to take the Tepetlisaurus with them on the pilgrimage. Later, Little One learned that the real Manqu lived approximately two thousand years ago, and Waxaklahun Ubah Kan currently used his guise. Not far from the entrance to the Children of Echoes' settlement, a temporary camp belonging to a sick Tepetlisaurus whelp, who had been exposed to prolonged Abyssal influence during the war in Natlan, could be found. The tribe focused all its efforts on studying the strange illness and called in a Sauroveterinarian from the Flower-Feather Clan, Ifa. After teaming up with other tribes, he discovered a similar case from many years ago, but the whelp could not be saved. Sacred Flame Crystals were required for treatment, but all the warring tribes believed these crystals would grant them unprecedented power, leading to further conflict over them. It turned out that the soul of this Qucusaurus did not return to the Night Kingdom but continued to wander Natlan and encountered the sick Tepetlisaur. The Qucusaurus believed that the humans were fighting over the Sacred Flame Crystals, so he told the little Tepetlisaur of their danger, and he refused to be treated with them. To save the whelp, Ifa and the other heroes had to stage a performance in which the Qucusaurus purified the crystals and the feuding people reconciled. Thanks to this, the Tepetlisaur was cured, and the Qucusaurus's soul returned to the Night Kingdom and reunited with his owner.Near the entrance to the settlement lies a hidden Tribal Secret Space with treasures, accessible with the Yellow Obsidian Ring. It can be obtained by finding three Yellow Obsidian Fragments while exploring the Tequemecan Valley.Related Entries:Tlazolli's HouseIn the south is the home of Tlazolli, a former engraver of Ancient Names. During the war with the Abyss, her daughter, Nechca, was infected, and due to her illness, Tlazolli spent all her time at home. She abandoned everything to care for her daughter, and even as Nechca's illness grew worse, she never gave up. Like a torch in the night, she was determined to burn bright, even as darkness encroached from all directions. But suddenly, thanks to medicine and the protection of the Wayob, Nechca came back to life and began to recover. When her birthday approached, the craftswoman, Cheven, wanted to give her the most beautiful crystal she'd discovered in the Sulfurous Veins, and Xilonen gave her a new version of a children's book. In gratitude for the crystal, Nechka's mother gave the Traveler and Paimon a Blazegem Inscription that would not erode. Words could be inscribed on these crystals that would remain legible, even through the centuries.Tlazolli gave these Blazegem Inscriptions to several other people, and Xilonen, the Traveler, and Paimon noticed that they all suffered from gaps in their memories regarding Nechca. Furthermore, during a conversation, Nechca mentioned reading an old version of the book Xilonen had given her, even though she never left the house. Suspecting something was wrong, they decided to find out the truth and learned that Nechca had, in fact, died from the Abyssal contamination during the war. Tlazolli saw a girl named Nepecha, an orphan who resembled Nechca, and in her grief, she decided to replace her lost daughter with her. Nepecha tried to tell the people, but they blamed it on illness, and Tlazolli confiscated all the letters and gifts and forced the girl to drink a strange medicine if she disobeyed. She used the Blazegem Inscriptions to record her memories of her daughter so she could later perform a ritual to "revive" her child. But the last thing people remembered about Nechca was pity and suffering, and these were the same memories Tlazolli wanted to instill in the girl. Using her Ancient Name, Xilonen was able to cleanse Nechca's soul from the Abyss, and she bid farewell to her mother, blessed Nepecha, and then returned to the Night Kingdom."I bless you from the past. And wish that every day of your future will be filled with peace and happiness."When Nepecha was rescued from the distorted memories and ritual, Xilonen took her into her workshop and promised to find information about her true past.South of the Children of Echoes' settlement is a film set arranged by Akatanga. He and his friend built the set, complete with tiny houses and decorations, to film a movie about a small Tepetlisaurus. However, when they had a falling out over creative differences, she took the lead actor with her. As the Traveler, Paimon, and Little One were passing by Akatanga, he offered Little One a role in his film. According to the plot, attacks the tribal settlement, and just as it is about to breach the defenses, a savior with a red scarf appears out of nowhere.roars, and a furious flame lights up the sky, followed by a thunderclap that vanquishes the monster. During filming, it turned out that Akatanga had never used a Kamera before and had mounted it backward. But on the second try, the film was finally completed, and in gratitude to the Traveler, Paimon, and Little One, he gave them a photograph depicting the "savior."In this location, the World Quest can be found.Related Entries:Sulfurous VeinsShadow PinsThe Sulfurous Veins are located in the western Tequemecan Valley and are rich in phlogiston Volcanic Crystals. When the Children of Echoes first settled in this mountain range, it looked completely different, but its geology was altered during the Cataclysm. The Children of Echoes have long held a legend that a dark tide of disaster blazed toward the mountain range, brought on by two Khaenri'han soldiers. At that time, the tribe's leader, Sundjatta, had gone forth to the lone island in the west to resist the giant beasts, leaving Elder Traore with no choice but to contend with the Abyss and the two abject Khaenri'ahns. Finally, the tribes' warriors and Saurians, exhausting their spirit, flesh, and blood, found a way to use the Iridescent Inscription, a legacy of the ancient dragons, fashioning giant stone nails out of solid phlogiston. Elder Traore was the first to leap into the dark pit, crying, "If the Abyss should ensnare death, let us flip the script! With death and sacrifice, we shall ensnare the Abyss!" The tribe's warriors followed him in, and many sacrificed their lives to seal the Abyss underground. They erected four stone pillars, three small and one large. They called them "Shadow Pins," as they pierce theAll tribesmen, who excavate solid phlogiston and gems for a living, know that the phlogiston around the stone nails must remain untouched. Furthermore, the Sulfurous Veins contain a zone rich in unstable crystals of solid phlogiston, which can explode if handled carelessly. One day, two of the three Lesser Shadow Pins surfaced, clearing a path for the monsters of the Abyss. Passing the Sulfurous Veins, the Traveler, Little One, and Paimon encountered a man who introduced himself as Titu (the real Titu had lived five hundred years ago, and his guise had now been used by Waxaklahun Ubah Kan) and was watching over the pillars. The tribe members had been looking for him for some time, as he had not shown up for guard duty at the appointed time. The man asked the Traveler and Paimon to check the three Lesser and one Greater Shadow Pins to prevent the Abyss from spilling over. But when they lowered the small pillars into the ground, the shadow of the Abyss only grew stronger, as if some change had affected the Abyss churning within the Ley Lines, increasing its resistance. As they approached the Greater Shadow Pin, it suddenly collapsed, revealing a sealed space underground. Just as Titu was about to inform the tribe about the Shadow Pins, he, the Traveler, Paimon, and Little One suddenly heard a voice near the rift: "Calamity— Pain— Save—" Deciding to follow the voice, they descended into the Land of Myriad Megaliths, composed entirely of crystallized phlogiston. In the sealed space beneath the Sulfurous Veins, Titu, the Traveler, Little One, and Paimon discovered a stone tablet left by Elder Traore. On it, he had inscribed three blessings, one of which was dedicated to two warriors from Khaenri'ah, Zephaniah and Irizar, "You would prefer to be known as cowards, rogues, or a thorn in our side — that you should ever increase our vigilance, like an aphid that bites a Saurian. Yet I must speak the truth here. Forever and always shall you be heroes who fought alongside our tribe, the brother-kin of the Children of Echoes." For five hundred years, the names of these warriors had been associated with evil and used to frighten children: "If you don't stop crying, the ghosts of the Khaenri'ahn soldiers will follow the sound and track down your shadow..." But in reality, Zephaniah and Irizar were heroes who sacrificed themselves so that others could live.Following the Iridescent Inscription that separated from the Shadow Pins, the Traveler and the others entered a hall where they saw the warriors sealed along with the Abyss. The surging Abyss had caused the Iridescent Inscription's power to shatter and be squeezed out of the giant sealing pillar. Thus, it was necessary to restore the seal to contain the Abyss. While collecting the fragments of the Iridescent Inscription, the Traveler heard voices belonging not only to the two warriors but to all the people who had given their lives here.Behind the glowing inscriptions, from a place further still than the anguished howls…You hear wrathful roars, and the pained whimpering of Saurians. You hear the sound of inchoate flesh and blood merging, the sick, giant, sticky, approaching footfalls of some giant thing beyond description. But you also hear something like thousands of hands, thousands constantly resisting, pushing outward...You hear you hear you hear the endless battle in the narrow darkness. It is... torment unto eternity. All these years, even after death, they remained restless and fought the Abyss every moment. This was not the first time the Shadow Pins had risen to the surface. There might have been people who had descended to the Land of Myriad Megaliths, like the Traveler. However, these people had fulfilled the warriors' will and restored the seal, allowing them to continue their fight. The Traveler, Little One, and Paimon could not allow the fallen heroes to suffer eternal torment, so they removed the Iridescent Inscription and battled the Abyss. During the battle, Little One used the power of the Flamelord. When the Abyss was destroyed, the Traveler and Paimon appeared in the Night Kingdom, where they were met by the night spirit, who warned them about Waxaklahun Ubah Kan."You have brought so many slumberers, they who should have rested in peace...Perhaps they prayed to spirits they should not have beseeched...But that was a moonless night, where naught could be seen. The Night has long forgiven them. Yet hate and filth shall never rest, and they too shall never truly sleep again.Thank you, O you who are beloved... You have soothed their fury, which raged in the darkness. It was you who brought them into the Night's reflection. The outland souls, too, may now return where they were headed......Go now. But beware the fearful instigators, and the ends plotted by those bearing ill-intent."When they returned, the weary voices fell silent, and the Iridescent Inscription vanished, as if no longer needed. Titu promised to tell the Children of Echoes the true story of the two heroes of Khaenri'ah.Near the Shadow Pins lies an Obsidian Totem leading to the Night Kingdom, where one can confront the hero of old, Tlatzacuilotl. In this location, the World Quest Series can be found.Related Entries:Hall of Parting VowsTo the east of the Sulfurous Veins lies the Hall of Parting Vows, an ancient ruin where the first Pyro Archon, Xbalanque, forged an oath with theWhen the Traveler and Paimon received permission from the leader of the Children of Echoes to take their Tepetlisaurus on a pilgrimage to remove the Flamelord's Blessing, they journeyed to these ruins. There, they had to pass the tests left by Waxaklahun Ubah Kan, proving their unity with their Saurian companion, in order to receivethat was split in two.Inside the Hall of Parting Vows, the Pyro Archon and the Sage of the Stolen Flame were depicted holding the Golden Entreaties. While many believed the Sage of the Stolen Flame to be a mere mortal, this fresco proved his draconic origins. After seeing the Golden Entreaties on the fresco, the Traveler and Paimon remembered seeing similar patterns when they first met Little One, and that they could have found him through the will of Waxaklahun Ubah Kan. The Sage of the Stolen Flame strongly believed that humans could guide and lead Saurians, thus attaining a future far brighter than the age of the ancient giant dragons. Perhaps he felt guilty, for he stole the secrets of using phlogiston from none other than dragonkind and hoped that humans and Saurians could get along, living in peace as equals. Perhaps that is what drove him to leave behind the token in these ruins. The ancient scrolls said, "Humans and Saurians both have their places..."When the Traveler, Paimon, and Little One ventured into the ruins, they were forced to split up to complete the trial. At the end of their journey, the Traveler and Paimon discovered a fresco depicting the Dragon Sovereign, Nibelung, corrupted by forbidden knowledge, destroying a silver-white tree. Little One, at the same time, discovered a fresco depicting the first Pyro Archon stabbing the Flamelord with a sword. You witness with your own eyes the gargantuan wings from beyond the world, the once glorious and grand figure now pitiable, having completely sunk into the terrifying shadow. The pitch-black flames scorch the land, and even the white tree nearly withered, and the final envoy's glow shattered and smashed, only able to subsist on the last leaves of the severed roots. The ancient battlefields brought only destruction. After that time, specters stirred, evil lurking within the dark, and filth flooded forth.Only the last leaves still shimmered in the night, and after that time, only the last leaves in the night swayed with the ripples in the sea of memory. Then, you see something else. But you quickly realize, it is not "you" who sees it."You will understand someday." A voice that seems not to be what it appears whispers by your ear, as though it were laughing softly. But you know, this isn't meant for "you."You see the entire city's annihilation, the buildings collapse, the ash-white monoliths squeezed in midair as they are turned to powder. You see a giant dragon with pupils pierced and a tiny human falling together from a great height, while the world echoes with a sorrowful song, one composed of the agony of dragonkind. You see a man rising from the dead dragon's heart once more, his whole body seemingly wreathed in flame. When the Traveler, Paimon, and Little One completed the trial in the Hall of Parting Vows, a path through the lava appeared before them, leading to the Catastrophe's Edge for the final trial. This place depicted the catastrophe when the monsters of the Abyss invaded Teyvat. Here, the Sage of the Stolen Flame made a promise to Xbalanque about the future of humanity and the Saurians. During the final trial, the Traveler and Little One had to fight enemies hidden in theand the Tepetlisaurus once again used the Flamelord's powers to defeat them. After defeating all the enemies, they touched the Iridescent Inscription and found themselves in the space where Waxaklahun Ubah Kan hid the Golden Entreaty. By touching the stone tablet, the Chosen of the Dragons once again saw fragments of a picture of the past:The eyes of the great dragon, split in two by the sword of the children of man.A seal split asunder, engraved upon the white discs, is mistakenly classified as a hole. One was given to the silver dragon's white claws, one to the resurrected corpse. One was buried beneath the great monument, and one was swallowed into the belly of the headstrong one.A white disc appears beneath your feet, the other obscured in shadow. The great wings shadowing it are raised, and you finally see its drawn, upright pupils. You hear a voice. It says:"Glory, glory, the Eternal Empire, Ochkanatlan"You see the person standing before the empty throne, picking up that disc, turning around, and looking at you…When the Traveler received half of theengraved on the disk, they realized that the second Golden Entreaty awaited them at the forbidden city of Ochkanatlan. In this subspace of the Sage of Stolen Flame, one of the shards of the Night Jade can be found, which can open the entrance to the Night Kingdom. In the northern Sulfurous Veins lies an unusual place with a large population of Tepetlisaurs. One day, when the Traveler and Paimon were passing by, they decided to leave Little One to play with the other Tepetlisaurs, but even after several hours, he had not returned. The Traveler and Paimon questioned the other Tepetlisaurs, but no one had seen him. It turned out that Little One had gotten lost in play and fallen asleep, forgetting to return. After saying goodbye to the other Tepetlisaurs, the Traveler, Paimon, and Little One set off on their adventures across Natlan. In the southwest of the Sulfurous Veins lies a cave where the symbol of Huitztlan, the Mountain King Kongamato, lives. He is a Yumkasaurus of incredible size. Five hundred years ago, he was the Saurian companion of one of the six heroes of Natlan,Burkina, but after becoming corrupted with the Abyss, Kongamato attacked his friend. Burkina did not resist and, in his final moments, unleashed the power of the Turnfire to transfer it to the Yumkasaurus. After the Cataclysm, the Mountain King fell into a dormant state under the influence of the Abyss and would occasionally awake and begin attacking anyone in sight. Over time, these fits became more frequent, and some elders of the Scions of the Canopy decided to completely purge Kongamato of the Abyss, which would have resulted in his death. Thanks to the intervention of the current bearer of the name Malipo, the Mountain King was saved and was able to unleash the power of the Turnfire, which created a transparent shell around him. This shell seals off the Abyss, protecting the Yumkasaurus and the surrounding world. The Mountain King now fights with the tribe's warriors to train them, seeking redemption. In the very southwest of the location, a broken stone with graffiti for a large mural from the Scions of the Canopy can be obtained by feeding the flying squirrel some Quenepa Berries, which they are so fond of.In this location, World Quests and can be found.Related Entries:Tepeacac RiseRest AreaTepeacac Rise is located in the southeast of the Tequemecan Valley and in the northwest of Coatepec Mountain. There, the entrance to the rest area, a special subspace where Little One resides, can be found. The entrance is hidden behind Iridescent Inscriptions, visible only to the Traveler, Paimon, and the Tepetlisaurus himself. During their adventures in Natlan, the Traveler and Paimon can bring various souvenirs to this place, including a wooden alpaca and an egg discovered in Ochkanatlan. One day, as a sign of gratitude, Little One gave the Traveler and Paimon gifts: a straight branch, a perfectly round stone, and food that the Tepetlisaurus had been keeping for several days. The Traveler and Paimon decided to repay Little One for his kindness and went to the Muhuru's Gemporium to get a gem cut as a gift. Following Imix's recommendation, they found a gem cutter, but as they were about to give him the stone, a bird snatched it and carried it up a tree. The birds had stolen not only the gem but also the craftsman's tools, so the Traveler and Paimon set out to find them. In gratitude for the tools they found, the craftsman cut the gem completely free of charge, and the Traveler and Paimon were able to give it to Little One.When their adventures in Natlan came to an end, and the pilgrimage to the Sacred Volcano of Tollan had lifted the influence of the Flamelord's Blessing, Little One decided it was time to part ways with his companions and set out on his own journey. As a parting gift, he brought a Kamera to the rest area to take a group photo and spent his last evening with his friends. They reminisced about everyone they had met: the Yumkasaurus locked in the cave, the pufflings on the seashore, the various unusual people they had met in Natlan, and the Sage of the Stolen Flame who had left them messages. And although the Traveler and Paimon never met him, Little One remembered that meeting and the choice he made.In the very, very end, he presses his horn against Paimon's forehead, before nuzzling tenderly at your outstretched palm. Then, after a long pause, in which he seems to be mustering up the courage...The young saurian resolutely turns around and plods off into the distance.A few days after Little One's departure, the Traveler and Paimon decided to return to the rest area and discovered a baby Tepetlisaurus hatched from an egg. This cave also contains the special flamegranates of the Mountain King, which are sacrificed to the symbol of Huitztlan. The roots of the Mother Tree are constantly guarded, and one day, the guard Tisoc, who takes his job very seriously, failed to show up at his usual spot, prompting his friend, Poka, to worry about him. A special pass was required to enter, so Poka couldn't check on him. When the Traveler and Paimon accidentally discovered the lost pass, Poka asked them to go down into the cave and check on Tisoc. When the Traveler and Paimon descended into the cave, they found Tisoc unconscious. He was about to descend further to check on the situation, but a sudden change in temperature knocked him unconscious. Tisoc had cared for the Mother Tree for many years and noticed something was wrong with the roots. Both the Mountain King's flamegranates and the other fruits on the tree were completely unripe, although they should have been ripe by now. The guard discovered the temperature had changed due to solidified lava blocking the air but was unable to descend himself due to the danger. Lore

The Volcano LordLegend has it that when the great dragon civilization disappeared from Natlan, the empty Great Volcano of Tollan was occupied by the dark Volcano Lord, a descendant of Xiuhcoatl. Tribal tales hold that he was a black-and-purple giant with a salamander's form. According to the legend, the Volcano Lord dominated the lands of Natlan, committing countless vile acts. He bathed in the springs of the middle sea, causing the People of the Springs to be filled with smog, and he blew a wind filled with sparks to the Scions of the Canopy. At its worst, he even swallowed the entire Collective of Plenty, but the tribe's warriors and the Tatankasaurus managed to pierce his stomach from the inside.Another legend speaks of the Volcano Lord and the Shadow Pins that hang above the Sulfurous Veins. One day, during the Cataclysm, the dragon lay in the volcano, admiring his pitch-black body. The Volcano Lord thought that the bottom of the volcano was too dark, unlike the valleys of the Children of Echoes, which were home to countless gems. If he swallowed all the shining stones, his stomach would shine brightly like the starry night sky, even in the darkest of places. These words were overheard by a small Flying Squirrel, who passed them on to a Phlogiston Aphid, which passed them on to a Long-Necked Rhino, who, in turn, passed them on to a Tepetlisaurus with whom it was best friends. This Tepetlisaurus was none other than the Saurian companion of the Children of Echoes elder, Traore. At this time, the tribe's leader had departed to the future Mare Jivari and was unable to protect them, so Traore and the warriors guarding the tribe sought aid from their tribe's Wayob, for all within the tribe knew that the Wayob symbolized all wisdom and the greatest of souls. Under the Wayob's guidance, Traore came up with a way to resist the Volcano Lord. When the winged dragon reached the Sulfurous Veins, the elder was already waiting for him, offering to adorn the Volcano Lord's colossal body with the gems stored in a stone chamber. The entrance to this chamber was as tall as a man, and Traore invited the dragon to reach inside to take the gems. When the dragon's paw was filled with gems, Traore blew a golden whistle, and the warriors in ambush prayed for the Wayob to unveil its power. The Wayob, borrowing four sewing pins — three short and one long — from the tribespeople, blew them toward the Volcano Lord. The four pins absorbed the power of both the tribespeople's flesh and blood and the Wayob, and so they grew as they flew, turning into four titanic phlogiston nails. The three smaller stone pillars pinned the Volcano Lord's jet-black arm to the Sulfurous Veins, but before the last and largest stone pillar could fall, the Volcano Lord, gritting his teeth, severed his own arm and fled. That black arm was left pinned to the ground like a shadow, which is why the long crystalline pillars of the Sulfurous Veins are known as Shadow Pins. As for the longest, largest Shadow Pin, it did not completely fall to the earth, for the Volcano Lord had already fled before then. However, so long as that Shadow Pin remains suspended over the Sulfurous Veins, never again shall the Volcano Lord dare draw near the Children of Echoes.Related Entries:Chosen of the DragonsMany millennia ago, Natlan was ruled by a highly advanced dragon civilization, led by theXiuhcoatl. He was born from the and created the other dragons from it. When reaversthe skies invaded Teyvat and overthrew the rule of the elemental dragons, they were forced to retreat underground and establish their kingdom within the Great Volcano of Tollan. After a War of Vengeance, the Heavenly Principles were wounded, and the dragons once again ruled Natlan, oppressing the weakest of the Primordial One's creations, humans. During this war, the Flamelord was corrupted by the Abyss and fell into a state of false death. During periods of lucidity, Xiuhcoatl created a weapon capable of destroying the Abyss in Natlan, called Huitzilopochtli. He wanted to use it, but his brother, Waxaklahun Ubah Kan, refused and decided to find another way among humans. He stole phlogiston from his kind and taught humans how to use it, making them stronger and allowing them to attack the dragons.Xiuhcoatl transformed one of his eyes into a control center for Huitzilopochtli, a conduit of supreme authority by which all flames might be governed. Since he needed to monitor and anchor himself in reality through the "eye," the "eye" became his only vulnerability, which is how he was killed. The human leader, Xbalanque, pierced him with a sword and fell with him into the depths of the Great Volcano of Tollan, perishing along with the Pyro Dragon. Reborn from the Sacred Flame, Xbalanque became the first Pyro Archon, the ruler of the people. When Xbalanque defeated the Flamelord, he split his eye into two parts, two Golden Entreaties. The Golden Entreaties were a control center that could be used to reactivate Huitzilopochtli. For safekeeping, Xbalanque took one Golden Entreaty, and Waxaklahun Ubah Kan took the other. The Dragon Sage modified the Golden Entreaties so that both a human and a descendant of the dragons were required to return them to the volcano. In the Hall of Parting Vows in the Tequemecan Valley, he made a pact with the Pyro Archon that when the time came, they would unite their Golden Entreaties and activate Huitzilopochtli. He knew that the humans might not survive this disaster, but he hoped that a civilization would come later that would surpass both dragons and humans. But Xbalanque never intended to obey the rules, much less fulfill the oath he had given to Waxaklahun Ubah Kan.When Xbalanque entered the Sacred Flame, leaving the rule of Natlan to his best friend and Waxaklahun Ubah Kan's son, the latter led Natlan into a new Abyssal corruption. Realizing that the borders of the world were beginning to collapse from the Abyss, and soon all of Natlan and all of Teyvat would plunge into darkness, Waxaklahun Ubah Kan decided that the critical moment to activate Huitzilopochtli had come. In order to remove the seal from the Sacred City and unite the Golden Entreaties, Kukulkan needed a human and a Saurian companion marked with the Flamelord's Blessing. He tried to control the Blessing's occurrence through experiments and created a legend that one must find a token divided into two parts and make a pilgrimage to the Great Volcano of Tollan. The Flamelord's Blessing appeared on a Tepetlisaurus whelp, Little One, who became the companion of the Traveler and Paimon. Waxaklahun Ubah Kan chose the image of the craftsman Manqu, who lived a thousand years ago, and introduced himself as a member of the Saurian Relics Association. Manqu directed the Traveler and the Tepetlisaurus to the ruins where the Sage of the Stolen Flame once made an agreement with Xbalanque to activate Huitzilopochtli. After obtaining the first Golden Entreaty, they traveled to the Cinder City of Ochkanatlan, where they received a second Golden Entreaty, and Little One met with the Sage of the Stolen Flame.Believing this would remove the mark on the Saurian's horns, the Traveler and Paimon journeyed to the Sacred City of Tollan, removing the seal from the volcano. When the human's mission was complete, the Sage of the Stolen Flame separated the Saurian and his companions, as only the Chosen of the Dragons (Dragonborn Who Braved the Flame and Returned) could walk the final path. At the very center of the volcano, at the Huitzilopochtli Activation Array, Waxaklahun Ubah Kan told the Tepetlisaurus to activate the power so that the great enemy hidden in the shadows could never invade again. After activating Huitzilopochtli, a world of pure white stretched before Little One, where not only Natlan but all of Teyvat was destroyed. Seeing the fate Huitzilopochtli had in store for the world, the Tepetlisaurus abandoned the weapon's activation and chose the Traveler and Paimon. Although they never knew about this meeting with Waxaklahun Ubah Kan, Little One remembered the choice he made."Chosen of Dragons, I chose you... after much deliberation...And you have my thanks, for all you have done. I have always believed in you, I...Ah... It is hard for me to say this, Traveler...Never forget... that I love you."Related Entries:The Abyss InvasionDuring the war between the Descenders and the dragons, Natlan's Ley Lines were significantly damaged. During the Cataclysm, they were almost destroyed, so the Abyss was not completely banished. For five hundred years, the Abyss grew in power by attacking the tribes. At first, the attacks seemed random, and the Abyss appeared to be a natural phenomenon, but it later turned out that the attacks occurred at the tribes' vulnerable points. Using memories stored in Natlan's Night Kingdom, the Abyss studied all the tribes' weaknesses, as if possessing a consciousness. And five hundred years after the Cataclysm, it launched a full-scale invasion of all the tribes of Natlan simultaneously.Allied with the Fatui under the leadership of the Harbinger Capitano, the Natlanese rushed to defend their tribes. Abyssal monsters surrounded all entrances and exits of the Tequemecan Valley, and a rescue operation was organized among the Children of Echoes, which included Kachina, one of the victors of the Pilgrimage of the Return of the Sacred Flame. Additionally, warrior squads built defensive fortifications near settlements to repel the monsters. Although many of them did not possess an Ancient Name, they were not afraid to die and desired to become heroes. In the Sulfurous Veins, warriors formed a front line to prevent the enemy from reaching the main settlement, while Pyro Archon, Mavuika, went to clean up the aftermath of the mine collapse and lava spill. Numerous Rift Hounds appeared near the mountains, and the Fatui were dispatched to defend the people. Many of them defended the Natlanese with their lives. The Scions of the Canopy sent all their couriers to relay reports from the front, but some of them stopped responding. Near the Mother Flamegranate Tree, one of the couriers was attacked by Hilichurls, but thanks to the help of the Yumkasaurs and the warriors who arrived, the attack was repelled. The Abyss's assault affected not only humans but also all the Saurians in the valley. The long-necked rhinos managed to escape, but one of them, Toto, remained to fight and was wounded. Natlanese warriors remained to protect it so it could rest and recover.Despite all of Natlan's resistance, the Abyssal Pylons, constantly creating monsters, appeared in ever-increasing numbers, and the Abyss itself used its main weapon: Gosoythoth. The immense energy of the Abyss took on an unimaginable form, looming over the Tequemecan Valley and casting a shadow over the entire sky. Many territories, including the Tepeacac Rise, were completely overrun by monsters, and even the elderly were forced to take up arms. The situation in the Sulfurous Veins grew increasingly dangerous, and the warriors were forced to retreat to regroup and gather their forces. Some went to defend the main settlement of the Children of Echoes, while others went to the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. The Abyssal Tumors that had fallen from the sky upon Gosoythoth's appearance were invulnerable to attacks, and the Children of Echoes' chief, Pacal, ordered the evacuation of the main settlement, leaving Kachina and Xilonen to cover them.Pyro Archon Mavuika had already witnessed a battle of similar magnitude five hundred years ago, during the Cataclysm. Although the Natlanese at that time had managed to drive the Abyss into the depths of the Night Kingdom, they knew it would eventually erupt again. Their calculations estimated that they would have a maximum of five hundred years before the Night Kingdom was completely lost to the Abyss, but as it was, Natlan lay in ruins, and the civilization was dying. It was necessary to unite the tribes, otherwise, it would be impossible to dream of a final victory. So, the Archon had a long and involved discussion with the heroes of each tribe and finally came up with a five-hundred-year-long plan to save Natlan. During this time, the Archons and chiefs were to rebuild the tribes, and when the time came, the Wayob would again choose six heroes of Natlan with the Ancient Names of Xbalanque's companions. Mavuika entered the Sacred Flame to be reborn five hundred years later. In the present day, when all six heroes necessary for Mavuika's plan were recognized by their Ancient Names, she used their power and the power of the divine throne to banish the Abyss. This power helped destroy the previously invulnerable Abyss Tumors, and the Ode of Resurrection enabled the resurrection of all Natlanese who had perished after using this power. Thanks to the Natlanese's bravery, the Tequemecan Valley and other tribes were recaptured, and Mavuika was able to attack Gosoythoth, forcing it to flee into the Night Kingdom. After the war, many fallen souls were unable to return to the Night Kingdom, as the Lord of the Night could not accept them. During the ritual to create an Ancient Name for the Traveler, all lost souls were summoned to the Sulfurous Veins. One of these lost souls was that of Vichama, a warrior from the Scions of the Canopy who died during the Abyss invasion. Thanks to his help, the Traveler and other heroes of Natlan were able to rescue Kachina from the Night Kingdom when the Ode of Resurrection failed to return her after the Pilgrimage. Additionally, thanks to the intervention of a great shaman of the Masters of the Night Wind, Vichama's soul was able to return to the Night Kingdom, but many others could no longer be saved. Some souls were tainted by the Abyss and had to be destroyed in order to save Natlan and the Night Kingdom.During the Abyss invasion, the grandparents of Kachina's Saurian companion, Ayo, were killed, and the Tepetlisaurus whelp stopped sleeping and eating. When the lost souls were summoned to the Sulfurous Veins, they were among them. Ayo had always been a restless Saurian, but whenever his grandparents started to sing to him, he would fall asleep in no time. When the Tepetlisaurus met them, he immediately calmed down and fell asleep, so the souls refused to leave for the Night Kingdom to be with their grandson, knowing that in a few days they would disappear forever.
