Snow-Covered PathDragonspine is, deservedly, the most unique area of Mondstadt. The origins of its name date back to a dragon that fell on the mountain five hundred years ago. Dragonspine is an area covered in snowstorms all year round, exuding a mysterious power. Its mountains are completely covered in snow and ice, and the low temperatures make it impossible to live there. The local grass cannot be set on fire, so the only means you have to warm yourself and avoid frostbite are near the Ruin Braziers, specially installed bonfires, or Warming Seelie. The Subzero Climate of Dragonspine has created Ancient Rime, chunks of ice that cannot be melted with Pyro but instead with Scarlet Quartz. Because of the unique properties Ancient Rime possesses, many expeditions to Dragonspine have come to an abrupt end; the people had no means to get around this odd ice, and in some instances, it blocked entrances and exits. Apart from that, due to Dragonspine's unique Ley Line structure and climate, some gadgets do not work in the area. Many villagers who live at the foot of the mountain liken this monstrous mountain to a blind spot in the eyes of the gods, a place ruled by the inscrutable force of fate. Old Mondstadt fairy tales speak of the mountain as a place of punishment that was abandoned by the Wind of Time and left for the howling winds to sweep in and freeze everything in its moment of destruction. Yet something still stirs here, at the peak of the mountain, and it seems to sing a gentle song, pleasing to the ear, but somehow disturbing to the mind. Despite the harsh climate, avalanches, and monsters, Dragonspine attracts not only the Treasure Hoarders and Fatui who explore the mysterious power of the mountain, but also adventurers who seek treasure. Once, even a small tanuki from Inazuma went to Dragonspine to see the world. On the border of Dragonspine and Galesong Hill is a camp established by the Adventurers' Guild. There, the famous adventurer and elder sister of the Guildmaster of Mondstadt, Iris, the scholar Stevens, the founder of the camp and cook Harris, as well as the blacksmith Orban, can be found. Stevens, who studies ancient history, read many historical almanacs while writing his research paper. One of them, compiled before the formation of the Knight of Favonius, spoke of a group of explorers sent by the nobles to explore the Dragonspine, but no details about this group have survived. In the mountains, three diaries written by the servant, Luther, and a man named Eberhart's notes can be found, revealing the deaths of almost all members of the group. Only Eberhart survived, but the Mondstadt archives do not say anything about his return. With the help of Orban the blacksmith, the four Strange Teeth found scattered across Dragonspine can be transformed into a unique weapon unlike any other. When he first saw the teeth, no matter how many times he hit them with his hammer, not a crumb came off. So Orban asked the Chief Alchemist of Mondstadt for advice, and the alchemist asked his apprentice, Sucrose, to bring him a Runestone, a relic left to the Knights of Favonius by the Wanderer’s Troupe over a thousand years ago. This relic helped the Mondstadters rebel against the aristocracy. The flautist of this troupe once fought a monster known as the Bakunawa in Mare Jivari, and the Runestone was carved from its body. This relic contains an infinite vitality, similar to that of a dragon, and if Durin's teeth are imbued with this power, they can be forged into a weapon using the Starsilver. Starsilver, a precious ore created by the local geology and patterns of the Ley Lines, can be found throughout Dragonspine. Not only does it make a great weapon, but it can also be used to create potions and special dyes.Periodically, the Knights of Favonius and representatives of Springvale organize the Dragonspine International Cross Country Challenge, a running competition open to people from all over Teyvat. Armed with perseverance, courage, and speed, runners have to hit the trails of Dragonspine, overcoming complex terrain and bone-chilling weather to reveal their true mettle. The Knights of Favonius are usually responsible for registration and race safety, while the team from Springvale handles judging and support. The Dragonspine International Cross Country Challenge, to which the Traveler and Paimon received an invitation, was particularly large-scale, as teams from Natlan, Sumeru, Inazuma, Liyue, and Mondstadt participated. Among the Natlanese participants who traveled to Mondstadt were Varesa of the Collective of Plenty and Xilonen of the Children of Echoes. They took part in the race as part of a mixed team, the Legion of Soulblazers, a club for fans of the "Soulblazer Saga" comics published by Yae Publishing House. One of the club members, Minnie, suggested holding a meeting of the Legion of Soulblazers in Mondstadt and participating in the race. She had long dreamed of becoming a comic book artist and had even gained fans worldwide, but her parents considered her idea pointless. Minnie made a deal with her parents that if her team placed well in the race, they would listen to her opinion, so she trained diligently. The other members of the club included Alrani, a researcher from Sumeru, and Yigang from Liyue. During training, Yigang fell ill from the cold weather and had to be replaced by the Traveler. Varesa, Xilonen, and the Traveler quickly completed their stages of the race, but when Minnie's turn came, she saw a participant from Inazuma being attacked by monsters. Even though she knew her friends would protect him, she couldn't stand by and took the injured man to the organizing committee. By the time Minnie returned to the track, all the other participants had already finished. For her help with the injured man, the organizing committee awarded her a medal, and although she couldn't get a decent ranking, her parents accepted her dreams and invited her on a journey.Several additional game areas were set up at the Dragonspine International Cross Country Challenge. Spark Knight Klee teamed up with Yaoyao from Liyue and Sayu from Inazuma to organize a hide-and-seek game in Dragonspine. Yaoyao arrived in Mondstadt with legal consultant Yanfei at the request of their friend and chef Xiangling. Xiangling was scheduled to host Escoffier, a renowned chef from Fontaine, so she decided to combine the cuisines of Liyue and Mondstadt. However, since she was too busy at the restaurant, she asked Yaoyao to go to Mondstadt to research new recipes. The ninja Sayu came to Dragonspine on a business trip to participate in a war game simulation and gain experience. When she first arrived in Mondstadt, Klee noticed a tail on her clothes and invited her to the camp on Dragonspine. When the Shuumatsuban representative learned of Klee's knighthood, she allowed Sayu to play with her.Amber, a member of the race organizing committee and the Scout of the Knight of Favonius, organized a game called "Jade Pitching" to provide guests from other countries with a fun and relaxing experience. The game involved throwing snowballs at targets shaped like slimes and snowmen. Yanfei, who had arrived in Mondstadt with Yaoyao, met Amber on her way to the Dragonspine International Cross Country Challenge and asked her for directions. They got along really well, so Yanfei decided to join the game and shared her suggestions.Another venue on Dragonspine was the "Trial of Valor," organized by a warrior from the Collective of Plenty and Yoimiya, a fireworks master from Inazuma. They decided to form a team to overcome monsters, emulate the fighting styles of various heroes, and challenge themselves. The fourth venue was the trial of the Saury-Saury Scout, a toy Saurian with the mechanical core of a Sumeru scout drone. The Knight of Favonius’s Surveyor, Mika, and the leader of the Graffiti Alliance from the Masters of the Night-Wind believed the Saury-Saury Scout would be of interest to adventurers, as it helps track monsters and explore the landscape. To the south of the Snow-Covered Path, not far from the Ancient Capital, lives the Great Snowboar King — an ancient king who waits among the snow and ice to be awakened by its ice-entombed brethren. In the distant past beyond memory, a certain legend circulated among hunters out in the wild: when the land sealed by ice returns to life and when an uninvited guest disturbs the deep, frozen silence, the lord and leader of the snowboars unto greatness will awaken from slumber, shake off the ice that shackles it, and bring judgment upon those disrespectful interlopers. The huge snowboar is the true master of the Dragonspine, and he cannot be hunted for fun. Snowboars were long thought to have gone extinct hundreds of years ago, but some of them froze in the ice, while others descended the western side of the Dragonspine, passed by the Dawn Winery towards Springvale, and settled in the warm forest. The exquisite meat of the Great Snowboar King is said to be suitable for preparing special dishes. One day, an exploration group went to the mountains and wandered into ancient ruins during a snowstorm. There, they found various books and records, among which was a recipe for an ancient dish. One of the adventurers in this group gave the recipe to his friend from the camp, the cook Harris, to recreate it. He had never even heard of many of the ingredients, and some of the cooking methods were new to him, but after some changes, Harris was able to recreate the recipe, which used Chill Meat of snowboars frozen in the ice that remained especially fresh thanks to the low temperature. This same meat inspired a mighty Adeptus from Liyue, Cloud Retainer, to create a dish made from Chill Meat by braising. With the help of the "supreme cuisine machine," a special cooking device designed by the Adeptus, "Braised Meat" was created.Further along the path is an unusual frost shard. Over six thousand years ago, when the kingdom of Sal Vindagnyr still existed, a silver-white tree, part of Irminsul, grew on this spot. Although Irminsul is not a tree in the biological sense, it can be thought of as a large tree that grows downwards rather than upwards. Ley Lines, like the roots of Irminsul, cross the earth, spreading and extending from a massive cavern deep underground all the way up to the surface. Ley Lines continually absorb the memories of this world, which are then funneled into Irminsul, allowing it to collect knowledge and wisdom from ancient times to the present day. When a divine nail fell on the mountain, it split into three pieces and turned the green forests into ice and snow. One of these shards split the silver-white tree, causing it to wither. After the shard was destroyed, the Frostbearing Tree came to life again, fed by the poisonous blood of the dragon Durin. As the dragon's corrosive blood stained the ashen valley red, a silver-white tree extended its roots towards the warm ichor that irrigated the land. It gathered all its strength and bore a single fruit from the coalescence for those who dwelt in its shadow, for all the happiness they could not possess. This crimson, icy fruit was to await the one who could render recompense upon this poisonous world, and who would carry this innocent, bitter fruit with them as they enact justice. When the ancient kingdom had not yet been destroyed by the divine nail, a daughter of the high priest and priestess was born under the silver-white tree and received its blessing. Those who wrote the annals of that mountain kingdom believed that the blessing of Sal Vindagnyr would be everlasting, just as the undying silver-white tree whose roots pierced the earth. They believed that the beauty and skill of their princess would be as eternal and pure as the moonlight. When part of Irminsul was split, the princess took the last intact branch with her to revive the tree whose shadow once covered the entire kingdom. She tried to graft a branch of Irminsul, but the tree had already died. Along with the silver branches of the tree, the princess withered. Near the silver-white tree in the northeast of the Snow-Covered Path, the princess's box, which is needed to open one of the secret rooms near the ruins of the capital, can be found. In this subarea, the World Quests,,,,,, and can be found.Related Entries:Wyrmrest ValleyThe Wyrmrest Valley is formed by the remains of the enormous shadow dragon, Durin, who died five hundred years ago during the Cataclysm at the claws and fangs of the elemental dragon, Dvalin. This enormous creature fell from a great height, and from its impact with the ground, a gorge was formed. His flesh had long since decomposed, and his corrupted blood had soaked into the ground, poisoning the plants and monsters, but at the same time endowing them with special power. Part of Durin's life force and blood crystallized into Crimson Agates and Scarlet Quartz, which contain a kind of warm energy and can warm from the terrible frost. One day, about five hundred years ago, researchers from Fontaine, Rene de Petrichor and Jakob Ingold, became interested in the body of Elynas, Durin's brother, who died during the Cataclysm. They used the dragon's flesh and blood to awaken the powers of the Abyss in Jakob, and then began to study objects with similar properties, including Scarlet Quartz from Dragonspine and the filth from the Chasm mines. It turned out that they were all similar in composition to Elynas's flesh and had a negative effect on ordinary people. Only Jakob, called a "Neohuman" by Rene, was able to resist this destructive influence.Crimson Agate was also used to create the ancient circlet of the Lavawalker, a wanderer who set out for the Mare Jivari. This circlet protected from flames and high temperatures, and also caused envy in both young and old. Upon close examination, one can almost see his figure standing strong amidst the fiery flames. People believed that it was impossible to challenge the Mare Jivari, and this arrogant young man would surely be swallowed by the flames, turned into ash, and lifted into the sky to disperse into nothingness. In his jealousy, the teacher demanded that his student step into the flaming sea wearing the circlet, and in a state of calmness, the Lavawalker strolled onto the lava and gradually disappeared into the horizon. After Durin's death, Andersdotter, a witch from the Hexenzirkel, created a version of Durin in a magical world called Simulanka. Although she knew that this version of Durin would have his fate connected to the real Durin's fate, she hoped that one day he would have his own path. Like the real Durin, the dragon of the magical world destroyed everything he touched, and people feared him. When he wished never to be born at all, a few heroes from Teyvat appeared in Simulanka and saved the dragon. When Andersdotter was creating Durin of Simulanka, her son, another witch, Barbeloth, made a prophecy about Teyvat's Durin: "R's child... will one day rise from the dead." Recent observations at Dragonspine lend credence to this prophecy, and Durin's heart has slowly but surely been growing in vitality. The process would be extremely slow, but in hundreds or thousands of years, he would be back to life. To prevent a tragedy similar to the Cataclysm, another of Rhinedottir’s creations, Albedo, decided to reincarnate Mini Durin and have him take Durin’s place. This would fulfill the prophecy, but instead of a poisonous dragon, a pure dragon from a fairytale land would come to life. In the process of doing this, Albedo severed the core of Durin's heart and drained the rest of its life force. The camp of the Chief Alchemist and Captain of the Investigation Team of the Knights of Favonius, Albedo, is located in the vicinity of the Wyrmrest Valley. Albedo is a synthetic human created by the alchemist and one of the Five Sinners of Khaenri'ah,using the arts of Khemia. Due to his origins, the alchemist is not afraid of the cold of the Dragonspine, and he likes to spend time there researching and drawing. In the Chief Alchemist's camp, an alchemy research table, a workbench, many alchemy books, and a board with the results of experiments can be found. Albedo's assistants, Timaeus and Sucrose, often appear in the camp, helping him with his research. One day, the Kreideprinz discovered a special seed that was not affected by the awakening of life through alchemy. In order to study the seed, the alchemist decided to experiment on the Traveler, who, like the seed, did not belong to the world of Teyvat. After studying the manifestation of elemental energy through fighting Slimes and a special potion made from the Starsilver Catalyst and conducting many different experiments, Albedo found no difference between an ordinary person and the Traveler. But even though the study failed, the simulation of the Traveler's life inspired Albedo, and he was able to momentarily germinate the seed from another world."The transition from nothing into something, from shoot to stem... And now to fruition. Is not nurturing otherworldly life also nurturing the world itself?Life is a manifold tapestry of free entities, its value shouldn't derive from how long it stays with us. Even a momentary burst is precious.A short life can be well-lived. A life lived efficiently, lived to perfection, is necessarily one unburdened by loneliness."Although the alchemist reported that the results of the experiment were quite ordinary, he did find an unusual sediment on the bottom of the potion that should not be there."Those born of earth are bound by its imperfections, but those born of chalk are free of impurities... You and I are alike, both composed of a substance that has yet to be fully defined...If one day, I lose control... destroy Mondstadt... destroy everything...Can I rely on you to stop me?"North of the Wyrmrest Valley, on the border with Mondstadt, stands the ecologist, Esther, who, along with her expedition group, was attacked by monsters while surveying the mountains. She was inspired to become a scientist when she decided to determine the source of the spring water in Springvale, which was the melting snow of the Dragonspine. The ecologist planned to study the climate and other conditions in the mountains, so she bought an expensive set of measuring beacons. While she was installing them, the group was attacked by monsters, and one of the explorers grabbed Esther and took her to a safe place. They refused to return to the mountains, and the beacons were damaged by monsters. With the help of the Traveler, Esther was able to collect the lost beacons and install new ones to collect at least some data. The northern border of the Dragonspine is patrolled by the Knight of Favonius, Riese. Due to the extremely harsh conditions on the mountain, even the most experienced adventurers may not be able to cope with everything that the snowy mountains have in store for them. Riese is tasked with keeping the Mondstadters from going on a trek, but many adventurers are too stubborn and do not give in to persuasion. To this end, the knights have placed several emergency supply points in the mountains so that adventurers in trouble have a better chance of surviving. There is also the adventurer Tommy, who is in love with the bio-alchemist Sucrose, can be met. She instructed him to find the necessary materials, and he happily agreed, not knowing that the order was on Dragonspine. After walking a few steps up the mountain, he got lost and froze. Some fossils can be found near the valley, which, according to legend, belong to the Lunar Leviathans, who are capable of granting wishes. In reality, these "Leviathans" are Moonfin, a rare type of butterflyfish that emits light amidst the pitch-dark ocean. They love to swim in schools, and when gathered together, they form the image of a moon that has fallen into the sea, which is the origin of the "Lunar Leviathan" legend. A fisherwoman from Inazuma, Kujirai Momiji, believes that she once encountered the Lunar Leviathan herself. Several years ago, she and some friends from the Fishing Association set out to find the legendary fish, but their journey did not go well. They were caught in a terrible storm, and although the boat survived, the compass broke, and the friends were lost in unfamiliar waters. Several days passed, their fresh water supply ran out, and they still could not find their way home. One night, a fisherman got up, wrote a suicide note, put it in a bottle, threw it into the sea, and was about to jump after it. His friends were awake and managed to drag him back. Then they saw a giant shade under the water, which glowed faintly, shining little by little, as if pieces of the moon were dropped underwater. Out of desperation, the fishermen asked it to return them home safely, and as if by magic, the silhouette swam into the distance and led them to their home. The friends did not stop thinking about the Lunar Leviathan, but one of them found a clue in an ancient book and wrote a bestseller "Regarding How The Lunar Leviathan Is Actually A Giant Sea Turtle" and decided that that night, they saw a giant sea turtle with long bioluminescent plants growing on its back. The turtle was pregnant and swimming to the shore to lay her eggs, which is how they found their way. Other old books say that the Lunar Leviathan is a species of ancient creatures from a time when there were many more animals on earth. Their ancestors lived in the area of today's Dragonspine mountains, where their fossils, similar to turtle shells, can still be found. In this subarea, the World Quests and can be found.Related Entries:Entombed City - OutskirtsIn the southwest of the Entombed City - Outskirts lies the camp of the famous adventurer Roald, who left behind his travel diaries. The slope there was relatively gentle, the winds were calm, and the springs did not freeze, so he set up a camp there. After examining the ruins, Roald noticed that their architectural style bore a striking resemblance to ancient, nameless structures from other regions, but it was impossible to guess what historical period they belonged to. Along the trail, he discovered several thousand-year-old relics whose history dates back to the era of the Mondstadt aristocracy. The adventurer managed to find scraps of clothing and old weapons left over from Eberhart's expedition. As Roald began to climb to the top of the ridge, he encountered severe weather conditions: icicles tore holes in his clothes, his toes were frostbitten, and he nearly broke bones. Although his expedition was unsuccessful, he survived and next set out on a journey through Liyue. On the outskirts of the Entombed City, thea highly concentrated stable Cryo entity, is located. In its frigid blooming, ice crystals of exceeding purity are created. These frosty crystals will continue to grow according to their own cold, rigid laws, till one day a flower of winter shall bloom and freeze everything. One day, a chef from Fontaine, Escoffier, traveled to the Dragonspine region to seek out a legendary "Arcane Cryo Source." Wrapping herself in a thick coat and tightly wound scarf and carrying a heavy pack and an Iron Point, she wandered the mountain slopes for days. Even when her polearm had been worn beyond use, she still hadn't located her target. Suffering from severe frostbite and carrying wounds from repeated battles with the area's monsters, she had no choice but to leave empty-handed. On the long road back, Escoffier heard rumors of a mysterious Cryo entity known as Daleth, which only served to deepen her sense of regret. Her desire to find this source of Cryo would become a goal exceeded in intensity only by her obsession to advance the culinary arts.Just below the Hypostasis is a cave containing the final shard of the divine nail that fell on the mountain. Once all three crystals are melted, they will return to the peak of the mountain, to the Skyfrost Nail. The remains of Ruin Guards and Graders, remnants of the destroyed civilization of Khaenri'ah, are scattered throughout the Dragonspine. Although the ancient Sal Vindagnyr was destroyed before Khaenri'ah was founded, these humanoid machines were sent to explore the ruins. Some of the guardians contain fragments of a recorded message: "For the nation, we can't forgo this skyborne power, but we failed."Related Entries:Starglow CavernLocated near the Entombed City - Ancient Palace, Starglow Cavern is a vast space beneath Dragonspine named after the bright, blue flowers found growing here. Deep in the cavern is the second shard of the divine nail, and the path to it is illuminated by many blue, glowing plants growing near these shards. The frozen thorn found here cannot be melted by ordinary heat, and only Scarlet Quartz can melt it. Despite the very low temperatures, some pools of Dragonspine are not covered with ice. They may have once been underground shelters, but over time, ground water seeping in there flooded them. According to some sources, in the distant past, tyrants threw criminals into prisons, locked the cells, and then slowly poured water on them so that the criminals could watch how the water slowly rose first to their ankles, then to their nose, then to their forehead. Such a cruel and painful punishment in this frost-bound place makes it completely unlikely that anyone could survive it. Once, Eberhart, who went to Dragonspine with a group of nobles, took refuge in one of these places. At the exit of the cavern is the tomb of, presumably, the princess of Sal Vindagnyr, erected by the scribe of the kingdom, Ukko. When she died, Ukko was the only survivor among all, and there was no one else to bear his debt for. He yearned for the frosty skies to stand in flames and burn till there's no living soul in the world, and for the black dragon from the princess' dreams to engulf the land in a cloud of scarlet poison. The scribe hoped that the people building a newwould have enough power to stand against this world. Near the grave, there is a precious scribe's box with a carved ornament, which is part of a triple pattern that opens a secret door. One day, a man named Joserf went to Dragonspine for a few days, leaving his son, Joel, and promising him to return and make snowmen. When the man decided to climb to the top, a snowstorm suddenly overtook the peak, and he barely managed to hide in a cave. Suddenly, rocks collapsed, blocking the passage, and the other end of the cave led to a cliff where there was nothing but high snow. Snow foxes lived in the cave with Joserf, and although his supplies were running low, he still shared with them. When the Adventurer's Guild organized an exercise on the Dragonspine, one of the adventurers, Pallad, decided to explore a new, dangerous place. Separated from the group, he slipped and began to roll down the mountain until he found himself in an unfamiliar place with several injuries. There, Pallad met Joserf, who came out at the sound of the fall. At first, Pallad thought he was one of the adventurers who came to the event, but then he realized that the man had memory issues and did not even remember his own name. Joserf said that he woke up covered in blood, and his things were missing, and there was nothing to indicate how he got there. He crawled into the cave and settled in there to gradually recover. And after his legs got a little stronger, his hunting skills helped him survive. Together, they returned to the camp, where they encountered Joel. He froze for a second with a completely stunned expression on his face, and then he started crying out: "Dad! Dad!" That's when Joserf suddenly started to remember. The only thing the man remembered was his son and wife. In his notes, the man asked to feed the foxes, and if they are fed for five days, they would thank one for their kindness.South of the Starglow Cavern, on the coast of the Dragonspine, several messages in bottles sent by the Kanjou Commission officer, Hiromi, to the Treasure Hoarder, Yan'er, in Liyue can be found. They had known each other since they were children, but when Hiromi became an official and Yan'er became a Treasure Hoarder, their paths in life diverged. When the Sakoku Decree was issued in Inazuma and the civil war began, they lost the ability to communicate, so Hiromi could only send a message in a bottle, not knowing which shore the waves would wash up on. When an old friend of theirs came to the officer with news that they had not heard from the woman for a long time, he did not want to believe that she could have died, so he continued to wait for her at the Uyuu Restaurant. Fortunately, Yan'er was safe, and after the Sakoku Decree was lifted, she came to Inazuma, intending to stop by the Uyuu Restaurant for a few drinks. To the southwest of the cave, the ruins of an ancient kingdom are located, with symbols written on them. When the alchemist Albedo was experimenting on the Traveler to assess their cognitive abilities, they drained a flooded section of the ruins and discovered these symbols of unknown origin and meaning.Related Entries:Entombed City - Ancient PalaceThe ruins of the ancient palace of the Entombed City are all that remain of an ancient kingdom founded over six thousand years ago. The people fled the snows and strife to a land of bliss, where they erected a monument called Sal Vindagnyr. The people of the kingdom prospered under the guidance of the Angels who granted them knowledge. When a divine nail fell on the green, lush mountain, the entire kingdom was covered in ice, snow, and raging storms, and almost no one was left alive.Throughout Dragonspine, ancient stone tablets that record the history of the kingdom are scattered. If all the tablets are activated, a door will open to a secret room where the princess of Vindagnyr painted frescoes with her visions. Even when the earth was covered with ice, she continued to paint frescoes, but it had been so long since she had seen clear skies and green meadows that she did not know which blue and green paints to use to depict the melting snow. Having received no messages from the heavens, her father went to the top of the mountain to find answers. He hoped that by the time he returned, his daughter would have finished painting the second fresco. If the third wall depicted the melting ice and snow, Sal Vindagnyr would have had a chance to be saved. But the princess never managed to finish the last fresco, and the heavenly messengers did not give answers. In the center of the room is the Starsilver greatsword that the princess gave to her lover, the outlander Imunlaukr. Taking the sword, he went to seek answers beyond the kingdom, in distant lands. When the outlander finally ended his fruitless journey, he returned to the kingdom, but was met only by the dull echo of death. Imunlaukr left the sword that was given to him to disperse the snowstorm among the frescoes, and descended from the mountains in search of strife and war, in search of a place where he could spill blood. At the end of his journey, he remained in Mondstadt, founding the Imunlaukr Clan.Related Entries:Skyfrost NailOnce, the Peak of Vindagnyr was lush and verdant, and the priests who came here could touch the heavens and receive answers from heavenly envoys. About six thousand years ago, invaders from beyond the skies (presumably, the Second Throne) appeared in Teyvat, and a great war began, which brought many losses. The barriers created by the Primordial One around Teyvat were destroyed, and forbidden knowledge penetrated the land. Besides the destruction, the invaders brought people illusions that could break through the shackles of fate and the Heavenly Principles. The people began to doubt the gods, they disobeyed the heavenly kingdom, tried to ascend to the gods, and began to look for answers in the depths of the world, antediluvian ruins, and long-buried altars of sacrifice. The master of the heavens, consumed by fear for the rising tide of delusion and breakthroughs, to heal this fragile, sad, and imperfect world, sent down the divine nails to mend the land, laying waste to the mortal realm, among which was Sal Vindagnyr. The temperature near the Skyfrost Nail is much lower than at the foot, the ground is covered with sparkling and transparent blue flowers, and near the ruins, defense mechanisms of unknown origin, left over from ancient times, are waiting for intruders. When the three fragments of the divine nail are melted, they will return to the Skyforst Nail, and if they are melted again with the help of Scarlet Quartz, the nail will thaw and rise into the air. The passage to the mountain peak is blocked by a strange air current that has prevented more than one group of adventurers, drawn by the atmosphere of treasures hidden in the ice, from entering, but when all the shards are melted, the current stops. Sealed beneath the ice-bound nail, there is an ancient altar where high priests, crowned with a crown of white branches, descended for answers. It is said that each generation of priests in their final days saw the same image: a pile of crowns beneath a dead tree in a mysterious place. Each high priest, retiring, returned this immaculate crown of white branches to the world.

Lore

The Dragonspine ExpeditionA thousand years ago, during the reign of the aristocracy in Mondstadt, a group including Ingbert Landrich, his illegitimate brother, Eberhart, and the servant, Luther, set out on an expedition to the future Dragonspine. Eberhart was one of those who wanted to restore the proud and noble aristocracy of the past in all its glory. He believed that any means were good to achieve his goal of becoming the heir of the family, so he was willing to get rid of his blood brothers or use a witch and then get rid of her when the opportunity arose. He secretly practiced fighting with a spear, a weapon unworthy of an aristocrat, for the sole purpose of defeating his lord and removing another obstacle on the path to becoming the head of the clan. To achieve his goals, Eberhart convinced his brother, Parsifal, to become a phantom thief. Having renounced his family name, Parsifal shot the crowns from the heads of the nobles in utter silence and disarmed many pursuing soldiers. He once vowed to bring light to a dark age, to bring justice, riches, and gladness to the oppressed. He walked the dark streets and taverns, mixing with the common people and, using the swordsmanship he had learned as a noble, robbing the rich and giving the money to the poor. All the maidens of Mondstadt dreamed of a noble thief, but he preferred a pint with his brothers. One day, he robbed a nobleman of his regalia and took a sapphire with him to give to the blue-eyed witch, Priscilla, but to the last, he could not bring a single smile to her beautiful face. In the end, the noble thief listened to the advice of his brothers and, abandoning his oath, sailed across an ocean that belonged to no one. He joined the Liyue warship and became the Chief Mate. When he first arrived at the harbor, he had a short blade hanging from his belt and a small sapphire feather pinned to his threadbare cloak. The hard-drinking Chief Mate was lost in a drunken reverie from morning till night, and was rarely ever sober. The smell of alcohol followed him everywhere, and he kept muttering about his warped memories. One day, the sapphire feather turned blood red, and at the last moment, Parsifal clearly remembered the days that were hidden by the veil of alcohol. The blue-eyed witch stayed with Eberhart. Because of the sapphire she was gifted, she was punished and branded a criminal, but Eberhart did not care about her past. She did not only the work of a servant, but also the tasks necessary for his goals. She dreamed of being by his side, or at least in the crowd behind him. When Eberhart went on an expedition to the future Dragonspine to eliminate his remaining brother, Priscilla was to light the beacon on the Stormbearer Point if they were discovered. The expedition planned to bring back many archaeological finds to Mondstadt to strengthen the name of the Landrich Clan. Because of the inscription, they decided not to go into the dungeons of the southwestern ruins, as originally planned, and instead explore a secret room with a locked door. According to Eberhart's decipherment, ancient frescoes and weapons forged from the Starsilver were to be kept there, which could be the most significant archaeological find in the last few decades. During a severe snowstorm, the expedition lost several people, and then, in front of the secret room, due to Eberhart's fault, an avalanche occurred, taking away one person and the fuel and provisions they were carrying. Despite the situation, Eberhart remained calm and suggested going down into the dungeons of the southwestern ruins. When the group members split up along the way, he struck each of them one by one, unaware that Landrich was already planning to grant him a noble title after the expedition. He lured Luther and his brother, Ingbert, to a secluded place and struck the latter down with a spear. And although Ingbert, who possessed a Vision, was able to seriously wound his brother, Eberhart survived. All the talk about a "lost civilization buried beneath the snow" and "a power descended from the heavens" was just a means to an end. He knew how much Ingbert loved expeditions and adventures, and used this weakness to lure him to a secluded place where no one could help him. After killing his brother, the wounded Eberhart was going to go east, where the mountain meets the sea, and take a boat. In Mondstadt, the conspiracy of Eberhart and Priscilla was discovered. And even when the blue-eyed witch saw the mocking crowd and the swords reflecting the moonlight, she felt neither offense nor grief, and to the last she believed that the former glory of the aristocracy would soon return.Related Entries:Shadow DragonBefore the fall of the kingdom of Sal Vindagnyr, a priest's daughter saw a vision of a black dragon covering the land in a cloud of crimson poison. Thousands of years later, her vision came true, and the shadow dragon, Durin, descended upon the land of Vindagnyr. An alchemist from Khaenri'ah, Rhinedottir, known as Gold, gave bodies to many creatures from the Abyss, including the black serpent dragon Durin. When the five humans who were supposed to protect Khaenri'ah succumbed to the Abyssal power, a terrible disaster occurred in Teyvat, known as theMonsters from the Abyss overwhelmed Teyvat, and a black wave spread across the world, destroying everything in its path. Rhinedottir released her children to look upon the beautiful world. Durin, enraptured by the music of the people and the beauty of the dragon, Dvalin, went to Mondstadt, hoping to befriend them. He did not know that his blood was poisonous and that it would be toxic to people and land. Although he did not mean to cause any harm, he became a real disaster for Mondstadt. The people of Mondstadt believed that he wanted to destroy all living things. The envy of the devilish dragon gave rise to evil that poisoned the land and the people who lived on it. In those terrible days, bloodthirsty monsters and desolation came to Mondstadt. Awoken from his sylvan slumber by the cries of Durin's victims, the Anemo Archon came forth and summoned his faithful servant to his side. For life and for freedom, the Archon and the Wind Dragon rode the wind to face their foe. In a battle that ripped clouds from the skies, Dvalin spread his six blessed wings wide, severing the sky and tearing through Durin's iron scales with the force of a colossal blade. The battle shook the heavens, even the sun quaked with fear. Finally, Dvalin tore out Durin's throat with his teeth, and the evil dragon fell from the sky. Durin's body fell on the ruins of the ancient kingdom of Sal Vindagnyr, which has since been called Dragonspine. The snow on the top of the mountains never melts, so the forces of eternal ice were able to contain the poison of decay exuding from Durin's body.Although Durin was defeated, he did not leave behind his love and gratitude for his mother, Rhinedottir, and the world. He was grateful to his mother for giving him wings and a body filled with strength, and he wanted to tell the world about the beautiful place where he was born and grew up with his brothers and sisters. He dreamed that he and everyone else had gone on a long, long journey, into a land where green grass grew, and where soulful songs were sung. He dreamed that he sang along with the gentle people of this land, and danced in the skies with a dragon as beauteous as a jewel. Like his brother, Elynas, who went to Fontaine during the Cataclysm, Durin was like a child exploring the world for the first time."Farewell, Mother! My journey is ended.""I shall sleep beneath this white, shining silver... and perhaps this, too, is good.""Farewell, O lovely bard! And farewell, O lovely dragon!""Would that we had met in a different time and place,""To meet, to sing and dance together!"Related Entries:Festering DesireOne day, Sucrose, the assistant of the Chief Alchemist and Captain of the Investigation Team of the Knights of Favonius, Albedo, suspected that he was hiding some alchemical secret from her and their colleague, so she asked the Traveler and Paimon to find out the secret. When they found the Kreideprinz in a camp on Dragonspine, he offered to test a sword with unusual properties. Not long before, the Knights of Favonius arrested a group of Treasure Hoarders near the city and confiscated all their belongings, including the sword. For some time, it gathered dust in a warehouse until Albedo decided to conduct alchemical experiments on it and discovered its history. This ancient magical sword was forged by a blacksmith who disappeared immediately after forging the weapon, and the blade itself was lost for many centuries. The sword was inlaid with Durin's crushed eyes, claws, and scales, and the dragon's venom seeped into the sword, imbuing it with special powers and placing a curse on it. The blacksmith was so proud of his creation that he decided to test the sword himself, but as soon as he entered battle, the energy of decay rushed up the hilt and entered his body. Mere mortals could not resist this power. The cursed and maddened blacksmith fled in a fit of madness and, perhaps after much suffering, met his end in an unknown place. Albedo knew that the Traveler had once cleansed the tears of the Dragon of the East, Dvalin, from corruption, so he offered to test the blade and imbue it with energy in battle. Thanks to the Traveler's unique ability, the sword was not only filled with energy but also purified of the power originally tainted by the dragon's blood. During their explorations, they discovered places where monsters grew stronger and attacked adventurers, as if driven by Durin's curse. And the Fatui, hunting for everything related to the ancient gods and Archons, turned their attention to a sword that could challenge the Archons themselves. One of the lost and frozen adventurers, Pallad, accidentally mistook the blade's glow for fire and wanted to warm himself on it, and when the Traveler tried to stop him, the sword fell on the ice, awakening a withered Cryo Whopperflower with its energy. The purified power of the sword not only revived the plant but also strengthened it, turning it into a Cryo Regisvine. After defeating it, Albedo extracted the sword's life force and felt it resonate with him, as both he and Durin were the creation of the same alchemist, Rhinedottir.Related Entries:ImpostorOne day, the Adventurer's Guild decided to hold a winter training session at the Dragonspine. The place was chosen as a great place for new adventurers to challenge themselves and gain invaluable experience. However, due to the danger of the place, the Guild decided to organize pairs in which experienced adventurers would work together with newbies. Since the Guild was shorthanded and one of the instructors did not show up, they were joined by the Scout of the Knights of Favonius Amber, the Spindrift Knight Eula, and the Traveler. While patrolling Dragonspine, the Traveler and Paimon discovered surveillance and strange sounds, but when they rushed after the creature, they only found Albedo, who was gathering inspiration for his paintings. When they decided to help the alchemist collect Starsilver for paints, they found his camp destroyed and some of his alchemical research stolen. Following the thief's tracks, they found a cave, and Albedo decided to go in alone, while Traveler and Paimon stayed to guard the exit. After a while, Albedo returned empty-handed, and they heard cries for help. Rushing to help, they saw the lost Adventurer's Guild instructor, Bennett, who was extremely unlucky. As he was heading to the training camp, snow with ice fell on him, and so he was trapped by the Fatui. While the Traveler and Paimon were rescuing Bennett, Albedo suddenly disappeared, and when they met again, the alchemist said he believed that they had abandoned him near the cave. At the same time, Eula arrived, having seen "Albedo" taking a child she was helping build snowmen to a deserted area on the outskirts of the Dragonspine, infested with monsters. And when Eula prevented him from taking the boy, "Albedo" attacked her and fled. After discussing what had happened, the alchemist realized that there was an impostor of himself on Dragonspine, so he decided to conduct his own investigation, asking the Traveler and Paimon to keep an eye on him. If Albedo was the impostor's target, he would eventually reveal himself and attack. After several days of fruitless investigation, Albedo, the Traveler, and Paimon encountered Eula, Amber, and Bennett, who had been wandering around the Dragonspine without returning to the adventurers' camp. They had experienced several landslides, avalanches, and falls from the slopes, as if some force was stopping them. They decided to spend the night at Albedo's camp and descend the mountain the next day, but an avalanche suddenly descended on them in the morning, separating Bennett and Albedo from the main team. Rushing to their rescue, Eula, Amber, and the Traveler first found Bennett, and then Albedo approached them. Although no one was hurt, Eula and the Traveler became suspicious. During their rest, "Albedo" suddenly attacked them, but was stopped by the real alchemist. The injured impostor assumed its true form, Fellflower, a gigantic, corrupted Cryo Whopperflower. Whopperflowers are masters of mimicry and possess the instinct to reproduce and replace, so the impostor wanted to take Albedo's place and eliminate anyone who might know about him. During the avalanche, the alchemist hid specifically to lure the impostor out, and once the hopper noticed his absence, its instinct was to take his place. Once its disguise was complete, the next step was to hunt for prey. The Traveler noticed that the impostor, unlike the real Albedo, did not have a mark on its neck — the place through which life was breathed into him. This "birthmark" was a sign of his artificial origin and imperfection as a human. The mutant flower tried its best to imitate the original, but deliberately avoided copying this mark, lest it become less perfect itself. During the investigation, Albedo finally realized the impostor's true plan. The great alchemist, Rhinedottir, once createdher proudest achievement, and successfully blended it into human society. No one ever would have thought that this friend of theirs was, in fact, a synthetic human. However, unbeknownst to Subject One, Gold had tried the same experiment many times before he had come into being. Some of the rejects from failed experiments had been discarded, but had not died.was one such failed experiment. He was swallowed by the great dragon, Durin, that came to rest upon a snow-swept mountain. Many years later, he was resurrected by the dragon's mysterious power. He saw various people on the Dragonspine, including Subject One, who had somehow, miraculously, blended into their society. Never in Subject Two's wildest imagination had he thought it possible for experimental life forms such as they to deceive everyone so successfully. He saw the way humans accepted Subject One as a friend, witnessed their affection as they addressed him by name. This was what Subject Two wanted. Now, all that Subject Two desired was to replace Subject One and take the joy of his existence for himself. The impostor began to unfold his plan. He stole Albedo's books and notes and studied all that he had learned from Rhinedottir. He changed his face into an exact replica of Subject One's face. Then, he found a plant with mimicry capabilities and transformed it using dragon blood and alchemy. And so, not only did Subject Two transform his own appearance to perfectly match that of Subject One, he also created a third entity:But Subject Two wanted to become a perfect human, so he erased the mark on both his and Subject Three's necks, for these marks were symbols of imperfection. He so desperately craved to become a perfect human being that he forgot something: Human beings are defined by their flaws. The impostor's plan was meticulously crafted. The Fellflower was supposed to attract Albedo's attention, and after he disposed of the mutated Whopperflower, he would assume the threat had now disappeared, and would let his guard down. The next moment Albedo would be left alone, the impostor would make his move, eliminate the alchemist, and become the only one remaining. The impostor would secretly replace Albedo in everyone's memories and inherit his identity, residence, clothing, sword, name, and friends. People would have no idea that the individual they knew had become somebody else from one day to the next. But the impostor's plan was thwarted by the Traveler, who sensed the substitution, and then they became the one to be eliminated."It's as if there were three identical roses in a garden. Only one of the three was a fine specimen, while the other two were defective specimens that bore poisonous thorns. In all the world, only the gardener who tended to them could tell which was the good specimen.People do not like poisonous plants. Only a perfect rose can fetch a high price. If the inferior specimens wanted to conceal the fact of their worthlessness, they would have to take the gardener out of the picture using their poisonous thorns."This is exactly what Subject Two thought. So he hid in the shadows and waited patiently, perhaps he could become a human very soon. Albedo knew that if they switched places, if his impostor was a survivor, then, as an abandoned experiment, the failure of the Primordial Human Project, Albedo would want to replace him, too. He would replicate his impostor's appearance, study his alchemy, and create miraculous lifeforms to divert his attention. He would wait for the right moment, then dispose of the impostor and the Traveler, the sole person who had known the secret. And then, he could finally experience the joy of being brought into the world. Albedo understood that there was no place for an impostor in this world, and after their battle, the fate of the impostor was unknown.Related Entries:Durin's RebirthAlthough Durin was defeated five hundred years later, his heart continued to beat, and with each passing day, more life force accumulated within it. Under its influence, the monsters of Dragonspine dug up the corpse of Albedo's impostor and returned it into Durin's stomach. The dragon absorbed the failed specimen with all his knowledge, ideas, and memories, and so absorbing the impostor's emotions allowed him to understand the current world to some extent. He realized that he was no longer his mother's perfect creation, and in response, he developed very real, almost human feelings. "If I eliminate the 'perfect' creation, I will be the only child mother needs." This mindset arose out of Durin's instinct to compete and survive, and came to dominate all those around him. Thanks to the knowledge of Subject Two, the new monsters created by Durin had the ability to transform their appearance, and people who spent too much time on the Dragonspine were influenced by the dragon's power. The impostor took the form of those who had no family or friends, and whose disappearance would go unnoticed. When Albedo discovered the impostors, he killed them and buried them on Dragonspine.Within half a year of what had happened, the Knights of Favonius and Albedo noticed that the monsters were growing in number and came up with a plan to combat them. They spread rumors that the captain of one of the companies, Hertha, had died on Dragonspine in order to lure the impostor. Seeing an opportunity to blend in with the people, Subject Two pretended to be Hertha and reported that he had been injured but had survived. It took him several months to make sure that no one suspected him, and then the monsters from Dragonspine moved on to the next part of the plan. The captain of another company, Phonia, fell under the influence of the impostor and began to transmit data from the Knights of Favonius to him. "Hertha" and several people influenced by Durin accused Albedo of murder and unlawful disposal of human remains on Dragonspine. The impostor knew that the alchemist could not reveal the secret of his and the impostor's origins, otherwise the people of Mondstadt would turn against him. At the trial, "Hertha" presented evidence in the form of a map of Dragonspine, where the burial sites of corpses were marked, and a letter about the creation of life. The prosecution claimed that Albedo killed innocent people in order to conduct experiments on them to create new life, and witnesses under the influence of Durin's power testified that they saw the alchemist burying the remains. During the trial, the real Hertha appeared, and then the imposter was forced to flee, and monsters attacked the city. All this time, the Knights of Favonius knew about the plan of Subject Two and worked together with Albedo to prevent the invasion. Together, the capital was protected.According to the prophecy foretold by the witch Barbeloth, Durin was to be reborn. Realizing that a revived Durin could bring disaster to Mondstadt, Albedo decided to kill the shadow dragon and have him be reborn him another form. He wanted to transmute the body of Mini Durin of Simulanka into a human. Unlike Durin of Teyvat, Mini Durin was pure in soul, and this pure side could balance the evil side of the dragon. Although Mini Durin feared whether he would still be himself after such a transformation, he finally had a reason to live. With the approval of the Hexenzirkel, Albedo used the flesh of an immortal beast from the Mare Jivari, the embryo with which Rhinedottir created life, and the core of Durin's heart to perform an alchemical ritual and transform Mini Durin into a human. Long ago, Rhinedottir sent Albedo to Mondstadt with the instruction to complete a task of monumental importance: to find the truth of the world. It took him a while to corroborate that "finding the truth of the world" meant "getting a life." For most people, this was not difficult, but the alchemist had to study a lot to find out about himself and the world to achieve this goal. Thus, the creation of Mini Durin became the truth that Albedo had been searching for so long."Life is the space that exists between me and the world. To become truly human, I had to inhabit that space. So, for an artificial human, finding a life is, in some sense, equivalent to finding the truth of the world."
