"Scions of the Canopy"Coatepec Mountain is home to the Scions of the Canopy tribe, whose buildings are suspended on the cliffsides. The Scions of the Canopy are renowned for their extreme sports: Free Solo Climbing, Mountain Parkour, Hot Air Balloon Racing, Cliff Bungee Jumping, and much more. Because all tribe members are specially trained, tourists are prohibited from participating in these sports at any time of day without training, instruction, special equipment, and supervision. Despite these precautions, tourists often fall from the cliff face and are rescued by Yumkasaurs, expending incredible amounts of effort. The Scions of the Canopy's chief is Wayna, whose mantra is, "Life isn't complete without taking risks." Some tribe members call him "Uncle," but in reality, he is quite young, and maturity simply means extensive adventure experience. When one of the Night Warden Wars' participants, Kachina of the Children of Echoes, was not resurrected by the Ode of Resurrection, her friends and crew approached Wayna, asking to borrow the Spiritspeaker Stone, an artifact created by a great shaman of the Masters of the Night-Wind that allows one to find an Ancient Name in the Night Kingdom. Although Wayna knew that traveling into the night realm was fraught with danger, he agreed to lend the artifact. During the ritual, the Abyss's corruption attempted to escape from the Night Kingdom, and the Spiritspeaker Stone had to be destroyed to stop it. The hero of the tribe, Vichama, aided in the search for the Ancient Name in the Night Kingdom. He later died during the Abyss's invasion, and a memorial can now be found in the place Vichama frequented. One of the main attractions of the tribe's settlement is the Obsidian Totem Pole of the Scions of the Canopy, a legendary relic said to be connected with the tribe's Wayob and able to hear people's wishes. The Scions of the Canopy believe their Wayob has the power to control the growth of fruits and leaves, and can also control the roots of crops and draw the patterns of the veins of leaves. Legend has it that the warriors of the tribe, along with one hundred Yumkasaurs, spent a hundred days and a hundred ropes moving the "Obsidian Totem Pole," the symbol of their faith, to its current location. Currently, this relic is under the watchful eye of Aclla, who can provide orders for monsters or supplies to enhance the tribe's reputation. In addition to guarding the Totem Pole, Aclla also treats the Saurians' wounds.Due to their passion for extreme sports and their connection with the Yumkasaurs, members of the Scions of the Canopy are excellent couriers in both peacetime and wartime. They were the ones who delivered reports from the front during the Abyss's attack. In the Scions of the Canopy settlement, the Courier's Longhouse, run by Michica, can be found. He accepts delivery orders and hires couriers, and often encounters smuggling in his work. Michica is also a certified player of Genius Invokation TCG. The office's employees send letters and packages not only between tribes but also to other nations. To do so, they must submit a request to the chieftain. However, correspondence to other nations is often delivered to the borders of Natlan and then handed over to foreign postmen. Every month, the Courier's Longhouse compiles a ranking of courier achievements and collects equipment evaluation reports. Since couriers often spend their rewards on high-quality equipment, the tribe strives to listen to all their wishes and concerns. Not far from the representative office, another Genius Invokation TCG player, the warrior Pacha, who dreams of making friends with the Riders of the Flower-Feather Clan, can be met. In addition, at the foot of the mountain and near the tribe's settlement, lost parcels can be found, which Michica can be contacted about. On the upper level of the settlement is the home of the tribe elder, Trinidad, and his daughter, Huni. One day, Trinidad's Yumkasaurus, Nanna, was injured by the Abyss, leaving behind three Yumkasaurus whelps. To bring them back to the tribe, Huni and her friend secretly escaped from home, but along the way, they encountered a strange outlander who introduced himself asHe began questioning them about the tribe's history, including the history of the Turnfire, and promised to send his friends to search for the Yumkasaurs. When the Traveler and Paimon passed by the Scions of the Canopy's settlement, Enjou had already fled, and the children mistook them for helpers. During their search, they encountered Ajaw, a companion of the tribe's hero, Kinich, who told them how Nanna had fallen under the influence of the Abyss and attacked her offspring before jumping off a cliff. It later turned out that Nanna had fallen on Enjou, who was passing by the settlement. He assumed the Saurian was bungee jumping. The courage it took to make the jump amazed him to the core, so he befriended the Yumkasaurus and helped tend to her wounds. As a sign of their meeting, he even drew a picture of the ancient ruins, which was taken as a relic of the ancient Saurians. When Sanka finally escaped from the Traveler and Kinich, he was reunited with his friend and found that all of her wounds had healed. She missed her family very much, and Sanka took her to Huni, who told him the story of the Turnfire.Various shops are located on the lower level of the settlement. One of them is Amauta's, which makes extreme sports equipment and souvenir clothing for tourists. The shop uses the finest ore from the Children of Echoes, fabrics from the Collective of Plenty, and foreign materials. Amauta also repairs sports equipment for the tribe. Traveling merchants selling obsidian can sometimes be found at the marketplace. All obsidian in Natlan is mined and sold by the Children of Echoes, with only a few merchants selling it outside the tribe. At the foot of Coatepec Mountain, beneath the main settlement, a tribal secret space can be found. Three green obsidian fragments, obtained from Luxurious or Precious chests throughout the Scions of the Canopy, combined into a ring, are needed to open it. While traveling through Natlan with their Saurian companion, Little One, the Traveler and Paimon discovered an unconscious man, knocked down by a Tepetlisaurus, north of Coatepec Mountain. He was surrounded by three Saurians: a Tepetlisaurus, a Koholasaurus, and a Yumkasaurus. When the Traveler and Paimon rushed to the man's aid, the Saurians refused to let them in. They decided to explore the area to learn more. Nearby, they discovered the man's journal, in which he wrote about the Saurians. The Koholasaurus, Ripple, loved Sour Sauce Kipper, the Yumkasaurus, Jade, loved to play, and the Tepetlisaur, Marigold, was actually kind and tender. To distract the Saurians, the Traveler and Paimon asked Little One to lead Jade to play away, cooked Ripple some Sour Sauce Kipper, and defeated Marigold in combat when she refused to negotiate. When the man awoke, he introduced himself as the adventurer named Icayo. Shortly before their meeting, he had suffered an illness and was bedridden, preventing him from meeting the Saurians. They surrounded Icayo before he even reached camp, and Marigold knocked him down, but the adventurer still believed the Saurians were looking out for him.Southwest of the settlement, a totem pole leading to the Night Kingdom can be found. In the Night Kingdom, a spirit of Cihuacoatl of Chimeric Bone can be dueled. In this location, the World Quest can be found.Related Entries:Teticpac PeakTeticpac Peak lies south of the Scions of the Canopy's settlement. At the peak, sacred flame offshoots, which the tribesmen requested from the Stadium of the Sacred Flame, are located. These flames contain the power of the Pyro Archon. The Scions of the Canopy required them to perform a Turnfire Night, a traditional ceremony in which they remember their ancestor, Malipo Burkina, and his companion, the Mountain King Kongamato. They lived five hundred years ago and fought together against the Abyss, but victory came at a high price. The Mountain King was corrupted by the Abyss and attacked Burkina, then fell into hibernation. Every year, the unstable Abyssal energy within the Yumkasaurus awakened him, causing him to attack anything that moved. Therefore, an important part of the annual Turnfire Night was the cleansing of the Abyssal energy within the Mountain King so that he could continue his slumber. As Abyss-related incidents in Natlan increased, the Mountain King's sleep became increasingly difficult to maintain, and five months after the previous ceremony, he again showed signs of restlessness. Since the Scions of the Canopy's flame bearer, Kinich, only agreed to perform the ceremony for an additional fee, the tribal elder, Trinidad, requested the assistance of the Traveler and Paimon as Kinich's acquaintances.A Turnfire Night ceremony consisted of several parts. First, the flame bearer had to collect a kindling of the Sacred Flame from the starting point, then use a grappling hook to fly up into the sky and light each of the Sacred Flame Pillars. Then, they had to go down into the canyon in Tequemecan Valley, all the way to the cave where the Mountain King slumbered, lighting braziers and the final altar along the way. The most skilled flame bearers could accomplish all of this without touching the ground once, but the main rule was never to look back, no matter what. To prepare the Traveler for the ceremony, Trinidad staged a training session at Teticpac Peak, in which the Traveler had to receive the protection of the Sacred Flame from the braziers and dispel the energy of the Abyss. After training, the Traveler and Paimon met Kinich, who believed that Trinidad wanted not only to cleanse the Mountain King's Abyssal energy and put him to slumber, but to completely dispel it and send the symbol of the Scions of the Canopy to the Night Kingdom. Kinich proposed a deal whereby the Traveler and Paimon would continue to feign agreement with Trinidad's plan but would ensure the Mountain King's safety. The tribe's chief, Wayna, also agreed with Kinich's plan, as the roots of the tribe's identity were at stake. While hunting the Abyss, he pursued the Rifthounds and entered the space from which they emerged. If such a Rift were cleared of monsters and the Mountain King were placed within, he could continue to live, posing no threat to humans or Saurians. While hunting the Abyss, Kinich discovered not only the Rifthounds but also Enjou, a member of the Abyss Order, and took him into custody. From Enjou, Kinich obtained a special device capable of stabilizing the Abyss and luring the Rifthounds to open an entrance to the space. In exchange, Kinich allowed him to conduct historical research.During the ceremony, Kinich attempted to open the Rift, but Trinidad broke the device and stood before the altar of the Sacred Flame, seeking to prove through his sacrifice the necessity of killing the Mountain King. Thanks to Kinich's intervention, Kongamato remembered his old friend and the oath he had sworn. He was able to awaken the Turnfire's powers, which created a protective shell around him, preventing the Abyss from harming him or those around him.Near the ceremonial Sacred Flame offshoots, to the west of Coatepec Mountain, a mechanism that looks like a windmill can be found. After activating it to match the wind blades with the image on the stones, one of the six Broken, Graffiti-Marked Stones needed to complete the graffiti in the cave beneath the mountain can be obtained. At Teticpac Peak lies the ruins of an ancient civilization that existed even before the first Pyro Archon. Near these ruins, a strange mural can be found, which one of the tribe members, Thiago, mistook for an ancient Saurian relic. He believed it depicted a Saurian and a human participating in some kind of Saurian-era pact ritual. Thiago wanted to take a photo of the mural to submit to the Saurian Relic Association, but the area was overrun by Abyssal monsters. The Traveler and Paimon agreed to help him and set out for the ancient ruins, but it later turned out that the image had been left by Enjou after meeting the Saurian Nanna. When the Traveler and Paimon returned to Thiago with the photo of the mural, they encountered another member of the Scions of the Canopy, whose work, "Yupanqui's Turnfire," had been stolen by a Treasure Hoarder. When the Traveler and Paimon caught up with the thief, he had already disposed of the researcher's belongings, finding no Mora within them. In the cave beneath Coatepec Mountain, where the Treasure Hoarder had abandoned the book, Kinich and his companion, Ajaw, imprisoned Enjou, who was trying to learn about the Turnfire and the Dragonlord, Ajaw. From the book, Enjou learned that all bearers of the Ancient Name Malipo had died violent deaths, so he offered Ajaw a deal to take Kinich's body. However, their deal fell through, as Kinich presented Enjou as a "gift" to the Traveler, and the member of the Abyss Order fled, as usual. In the cave where Kinich attempted to open the Rift with Enjou's device, a strange Yumkasaurus can be encountered, guarding the entrance to the treasure. To get rich, his companion deceived many people during his work as a courier, using trusted information. When the truth came to light, he lost his job and later fell ill. His Saurian companion stayed with him through it all. Realizing he couldn't survive for long, the courier left a note in an empty chest and told the Yumkasaurus to guard it, hoping that should the chest grab the attention of kind passersby, they might feed the Saurian. After the Traveler, Paimon, and their companion fed the Yumkasaurus and read the note from the chest, they approached Chief Wayna, who promised to feed the Saurian regularly as a member of their tribe. In the same cave is a wall with unfinished graffiti. After collecting all Broken, Graffiti-Marked Stones and completing the drawing, the wall disappears, revealing the treasure.South of Teticpac Peak is a shallow beach and a dock where people can fish. Passing by, Paimon wanted to cook some fish for her and the Traveler's Saurian companion, but while fishing, she caught a bottle attached to a plank. The note contained a message from two people, arranging to meet at their usual fishing spot. However, one of the friends, due to old age, had begun to forget his way home and had to ask people to bring his other friend for help. After several unsuccessful attempts, the Traveler and Paimon finally managed to catch some fish and fry them for dinner. Not far from the pier, in the southern part of the location, the Traveler and Paimon once encountered a strange man counting stones. He believed he had discovered a special treasure stone that could breathe. If fed smaller stones, it would produce even more beautiful ones. The man asked the Traveler for some, and Paimon brought him stones, including Trishiraite, which can only be found in the Sumeru Desert. The next day, when they returned to check on the man and the stone, the man was nowhere to be found, and the stone turned out to be an Avatar of Lava.To the northeast of Teticpac Peak is a camp where the Traveler, Paimon, and their Saurian companion spotted a wounded Qucusaurus and warriors surrounding it. After the Traveler drove off the warriors, the Tepetlisaurus led them to a nearby Embercore Flower, which filled the wounded Qucusaurus with phlogiston and allowed it to return home. East of the camp, a Broken, Graffiti-Marked Stone can be found. North of the peak is a small, abandoned, dry field, where the Traveler and Paimon's Tepetlisaurus companion discovered a plant seed. Not to upset Little One, they planted the seed and attempted to awaken it with phlogiston, but this only attracted phlogiston aphids and monsters. After defeating the monsters and deciding that the plant might need time to grow, the Traveler and Paimon returned a few days later to find Embercore Flowers growing in the field. Not far from this field are ancient dragon ruins. Legend has it that in ancient times, the colossal beasts that roamed the land had a civilization of their own. After exploring the entirety of the land and surrounding sea, they built these structures in an attempt to cast their gaze upon the even wider world beyond. At that time, the great dragon's outstretched wings could together blot out the light of the sky. Perhaps such descriptions were not hyperbole, or perhaps such wording was a metaphor for their desire to see beyond the sky. But now, the traces of said ancient dragon have already vanished, and the people of today can only glimpse the forging techniques of that ancient civilization through the shattered remnants of those massive structures and their patterns. To the northeast of Teticpac Peak, another ruin from the time of the dragons can be found. There was once a time when people had yet to attain true mastery of the flames, there were sages in all corners of the world who pondered the fire and sought to fathom its mysteries. It is said that these ruins are all that is left of what was once a ring-shaped ceremonial site. Here, these sages attempted to perfect the rituals required to transform phlogiston. Among the heroes who later followed the first Pyro Archon into the belly of the volcano, there were several who once trained in this place. Near the ruins, you can encounter a lutenist from the People of the Springs, Sappho Amidst the Waves. She is a friend of the flutist from the Masters of the Night-Wind, Rilay, and they often correspond, discussing their musical compositions. In a cave beneath the ruins, a totem pole leading to the Night Kingdom, where you can battle the "Atlatl's Blessing," can be found. In this location, the World Quests,,, and can be found.Related Entries:Ancestral TempleIn the ancient times of the dragons' reign, when Natlan had not yet acquired its name and phlogiston drained vitality fromthe people of that ancient era turned to the gods of night for guidance. The refugees could no longer offer grain to the gods of the night, the warriors of each region's leader were reduced to exile, and soon, all the tribes once again became barbarians serving the dragons. Years later, when the dragons were defeated and the Scions of the Canopy settled on Coatepec Mountain, they reestablished contact with the Night Kingdom in the Ancestral Temple using a medium, an ancient relic used by humans to communicate with the Wayob, the envoys of the Night Kingdom. From then on, many members of the tribe were able to enter the Night Kingdom's gates, and over time, they no longer needed the medium, but it remained an important relic of the tribe. One day, the Traveler, Paimon, and their Saurian companion were wandering near the Ancestral Temple and discovered three Courier's Trial Keystones, stone mechanisms used to unlock the gates of ancient altars. Among the Scions of the Canopy, this mechanism serves as a trial machine, where only the most experienced couriers are said to be able to acquire all three Keystones in a short span of time. When the Traveler and Paimon collected all three Keystones and were about to open the entrance to the ancient temple, they were stopped by a tribesman who introduced himself as Legba (the real Legba likely lived about 500 years ago and died on the flying ship Tonatiuh. His image was later used by the Sage of the Stolen Flame). Legba explained the history of the temple and that his territory was forbidden for outsiders, then invited them to stay in his camp for the night. That night, the Traveler was awakened by Little One, who brought a medium from the temple. Although the obsidian relic hadn't been used in a long time, Legba ordered for it to be returned to avoid the Wayob's wrath. After opening the Ancestral Temple with the recovered Keystones, the Traveler, Paimon, Little One, and Legba proceeded inside, but their path to the altar was blocked by various trials and a flooded space. When the water in the hall was lowered using mechanisms, they were met by an angered Wayob Manifestation near the altar. As the Traveler and Paimon were about to return the medium, they were suddenly teleported to the Night Kingdom. A gentle voice called to them through the obsidian statue in their hands, warning them of the Abyss's invasion and the need to reject the promise of the Sage of the Stolen Flame."Long has it been since visitors from afar have come. This place is... too big. Too empty. The dark filth enters uninvited, staining even the darkest dreams...Our nation is invaded once more. If the slain are swallowed by the turbulent tides of darkness, the flames of the living, dawn and dusk... All shall be extinguished...Trust not lightly the so-called vision of the 'sacred mountain' Reject... His promise…"After the Traveler returned from the Night Kingdom, they received one of three Shattered Night Jades capable of opening a passage to the Night Kingdom to battle the souls of warriors.Near the Ancestral Temple, one of the Broken, Graffiti-Marked Stones can be found. Additionally, near the temple are two obsidian totems leading to the Night Kingdom. Upon entering, "Chimalli's Shade" and "He Never Dies" can be challenged. To the east of the Ancestral Temple lies a shard that a child of the Children of Echoes named Orqo mistook for the fallen star from the legend of Qoyllor and Ukuku. He hoped that collecting the star shards would awaken some secret power. When the Traveler, Paimon, and their Tepetlisaurus companion passed by, Orqo asked them to find the lost fragments. But, even after all the fragments were collected and the spell was cast, the magical power did not awaken.Underground near the fallen "star" is the Phlogiston Extraction Research Center, established by the Fatui under the leadership of a "person in black." The research equipment was supplied by the Fontaine Research Institute. Although the Fatui expected to be deceived, all the equipment was in good working condition. Vasily, Sidorenko, and Nomokonov, who had been a technical specialist before joining the Fatui, worked at this center. For their research, the Fatui captured Saurians and extracted phlogiston from them for study. When the Traveler, Paimon, and their Saurian companion discovered the center, they freed all the captured Saurians and defeated the Fatui agents. One of the Shattered Night Jades needed to open the passage to the Night Kingdom can be found in the Research Center. In this location, the World Quests and can be found.Related Entries:Firethief's Secret IsleSouth of Coatepec Mountain lies a small island, hidden by clouds and fog. This island once belonged to Yupanqui, one of the first six heroes of Natlan. Along with Xbalanque and other heroes, he overthrew the rule of the ancient dragons. When the tyrant Och-Kan rose to power, Yupanqui was among those who rebelled against him. Four trials with Saurians can be found on the island. Once they are completed, the fog will disappear.
Lore
Lord of the NightMore than six thousand years ago, aappeared in Teyvat and declared war on the elemental dragons, the rulers of that world. When the dragons were defeated, the Heavenly Principles created humans and reshaped Teyvat to accommodate them. Angels were also created, heavenly envoys who guided and instructed human civilizations. After the dragons were defeated, the Dragon King, Nibelung, traveled beyond the world's borders to obtainseeing it as salvation. When Nibelung returned, a new war broke out, during which Natlan's Ley Lines were damaged. In this war, the angels were devoured by the awakened dragons, theof Natlan was burned by the Dragon King's flames, and humanity plunged into savagery, losing the ability to perceive the world anew. They reverted to their most primal beliefs, convinced of the inherent mystery of the earth that nurtured all things. This marked the dawn of the era where hunted prey began to be offered as sacrifices.Only a few angels remained in Natlan. They rallied around Yohualtecuhtin, the Lord of the Night, and offered their power to humanity to restore the Ley Lines. The Lord of the Night witnessed the people's resolute desire to survive and became their faith. People began praying to the gods of the night and making sacrifices to them. To help the Natlanese, the angel used fragments of the old Ley Lines to recreate a similar network. Thus, the Night Kingdom was created, a mysterious, liminal space between the body and mind, life and death, where the souls of all the dead Natlanese go. One of the shades of the Heavenly Principles, thehelped the angel create the Night Kingdom, she wanted to compensate for the damage and express her love for the people.During the ancient war between the Descenders and the dragons, damaged Ley Lines allowed the Abyss to penetrate Teyvat and the Night Kingdom. Gradually, the Lord of the Night began to weaken, and the Cataclysm, which occurred five hundred years ago and during which the Abyss invaded Teyvat again, almost completely destroyed the Ley Lines. After the Cataclysm, the Natlanese calculated that no more than five centuries remained until the complete dissolution of the Night Kingdom in the Abyss, but then Natlan lay in ruins. The Pyro Archon, Mavuika, decided to give the tribes time to rebuild the land so that they would be ready for the last battle. She entered the Sacred Flame to be reborn when Natlan's time was running out.Five hundred years later, the Night Kingdom was nearly absorbed by the Abyss, and the Lord of the Night had fallen into slumber to prolong her existence. The Fatui Harbinger Capitano, distrusting Mavuika's plan, decided to restore the Natlan's Ley Lines by his own means. He utilized the Source Mechanism of the ancient dragons hidden beneath Coatepec Mountain. The ancient dragons tried to use this device to strengthen the Ley Lines by imbuing them with power, but they lacked the skills to navigate the intricate structure of the Ley Lines. Restoring the Ley Lines in this way would destroy all memory stored within them, so Capitano was stopped. When the Source Mechanism was activated, the Night Lord was awakened by it, and she was able to absorb some of that power to help the Natlanese once again. To fulfil her plan, the Pyro Archon used the power of the Ruler of Death to destroy the Abyss in Natlan, but the price for this power was death. Mavuika was willing to give her life in exchange for the restoration of the Ley Lines. The Archon's life force would have to be enough to keep the Flame going for another two or three centuries, during which time the next Pyro Archon would have to find new sources. But another man approached the angel with a similar proposal, Captaino, a Khaenri'ahn cursed with immortality from the nation that had caused the Cataclysm. Thanks to the Khaenri'ahn technologies, his heart was able to convert memories and souls from the Ley Lines into knowledge. A side effect was a high sensitivity to souls, and after the Cataclysm, he began to use his heart as a vessel for lost souls. Since then, Capitano has held the lives of his comrades and the lives of many Natlanese in his heart. By becoming one with the Lord of the Night, he could change the laws that govern the Night Kingdom and allow the souls within his heart to find peace. Yohualtecuhtin knew that with Captaino's immortality, the Night Kingdom could exist forever, and so she agreed to his proposal.Since the Ruler of Death could not lift the curse of immortality from Capitano, she was forced to forgo the price of her power, and Capitano merged with the Lord of the Night. The legends of the Natlanese ancestors dedicated to the Lord of the Crossroads say that he was both the black-robed "Papa Witch Doctor" and "Mama Dream-Realm" all rolled into one. And it was to him that they prayed, hoping for a revelation that could change everything.Related Entries:YupanquiThe most important and desired Ancient Name of the Scions of the Canopy isthe first bearer of which was Yupanqui, a friend of the first Pyro Archon, Xbalanque, and a hero known as the Firethief. Yupanqui was born over two thousand years ago and was born strong, brave, and boastful. In his youth, he wandered the woods, challenging passersby to duels, until one day he was easily defeated by the half-human, Och-Kan, Xbalanque's companion. Seeing the young man in such a pitiful state, the archer laughed. Half of shame, half of annoyance, Yupanqui made up his mind to follow them to hide the shame of defeat."Hey! You aren't seriously thinking of taking on that... Uh, whatever it is, without me, are you?""Listen up, you lot! I am Yupanqui, and it is I that is destined to shake the very foundations of the... Wait, I haven't finished!"More than once did Yupanqui's failure to heed advice land him in great danger, and more than once did his boisterousness earn him his companion's annoyance. Despite this, the companions who journeyed by the warrior's side tolerated his youthful ignorance. Along with five other heroes, they stood against the ancient dragons and journeyed to the Sacred Volcano of Tollan to slay the Pyro Dragon, Xiuhcoatl. After their victory, Xbalanque was reborn from the Sacred Flame and became the first Pyro Archon, and together with his companions, he founded the Grand Alliance. When Xbalanque, at the dawn of his life, entered the Sacred Flame, he left the rule of Natlan to his best friend, Och-Kan. Attempts to lead humanity to greatness drove Och-Kan to madness, and the capital of the Grand Alliance to the corruption of the Abyss. The half-human, half-dragon hated his dragon side and ordered the extermination of all descendants of the ancient dragons. Lamenting that his grand vision of humans and dragons coexisting had become beyond reach, the aging Yupanqui could not bring himself to rebel against his only surviving old friend. He believed that passion was like fire — despite regret and unwillingness, once extinguished, it is gone. Thus, he silently accepted the idle position of ordnance officer for the Grand Alliance, resolving never to interfere with his old friend's orders again, waiting only for the day that he would return to the Sacred Flame. But one day, a scarlet-eyed youth from the Flower-Feather Clan decided to rebel against the tyrant Och-Kan. He saved the dragons from the shadow of the sword and, at night, came to pay a visit to the ordnance officer's abode, addressing Yupanqui and begging him to break his oath. The silent old man gave no direct answer, merely glancing at the dusty greatsword beside him. In his eyes, over the long years glazed dull with gloom, a spark of fiery brilliance flashed up once more.Yupanqui and the scarlet-eyed youth teamed up with the daughter of the mines, Sakkuk, who bore the Ancient Name of Yupanqui's old friend, and the heroic twins, Atawallpa and Waskar. To get into the Forbidden City, they needed a man who knew all the roads, paths, and secret passages of the city and could operate any mechanisms. The silent Yupanqui then named the craftsman Manqu of the Children of Echoes. Manqu managed to cut off power to the Grand Alliance capital, allowing Yupanqui, taking advantage of the confusion, to deliver the scarlet-eyed youth to Och-Kan's throne room. Although the scarlet-eyed youth defeated the tyrant and became the second Pyro Archon, Yupanqui never returned from that rebellion and perished in the Turnfire. According to the legend, Och-Kan used the Turnfire to rule Natlan and oppress anyone who opposed him. Turnfire is different from normal fire: if one gets set on fire with it, they will feel a horrible burning pain from behind them, but they won't die right away. And, whatever you do, you mustn't turn back to look at it. Yupanqui stole the Turnfire and threw it at the Och-Kan's army. All the soldiers were burned to ashes. Just as Yupanqui was about to leave the city, he thought he heard Och-kan calling out to him from behind. It caught him off guard, and he turned around to look, but Och-kan was not there. All he saw was a city burned black, an army in ruins, and giant flames reaching up into the sky. A split second later, the flames he saw burst out from inside his eyes and swallowed Yupanqui up. This fire burned more fiercely than any other. It burned for a hundred days, until it burned a hole right through the Ley Lines, and then fell into the deathly dark Night Kingdom, where it still burns to this day. The Turnfire lights up the path that leads to the next life, but for the dead to be reborn, they have to accept the flames and be purified by the fire first.Related Entries:Qoyllor and UkukuAccording to legend, long, long ago, a bright star, where Qoyllor lived, shone in the sky. This star was closest to the ground, yet still she was inestimably far away from her brothers and sisters. Her father, the Sun, bestowed upon her power, which he commanded her to cherish. Just as people on the ground gaze up in awe at the starry sky, she often looked down upon the life of the tribes in Natlan. One day, she leaned too far forward and accidentally fell from the sky. Falling to the ground, the star lost its former brilliance, and her power shattered into fragments that were scattered across the land. Without it, Qoyllor could no longer return to the sky. Life on the ground had previously seemed so curious and fascinating to her, but when she descended and lost the chance to return home, her heart became heavy. For a long time, Qoyllor wandered Natlan in search of the fragments of her star, facing many dangers, but all her searches were in vain. One day, by utter chance, she encountered the fierce warrior and hunter, Ukuku, strong and silent as a bear. Upon learning of her plight, he agreed to help her search for the scattered shards of her star so she could return. Together, they set off on their roamings: they climbed high mountains and ventured into deep ravines, overcoming hordes of enemies and making scores of friends. Gradually, Qoyllor adapted to life on the ground and became a true Natlanese. Like humans, she hunted, fought, rested with the Saurians, and told children wonderful stories. And only at night, unlit by glowing graffiti, did she suddenly remember her homeland and her brothers and sisters. After years of fruitless searching, Qoyllor decided that, in the same way that she had become a part of the tribe, her lost power had long since been found. She asked Ukuku if he had grown tired of chasing such an elusive goal, but the only answer he gave was a short "Sorry." She didn't understand why the hunter was apologizing, as he had always been kind to her, and from the very beginning of their search, they had found no clue about the lost power. Qoyllor and Ukuku were to form a family together, settling down in a corner of the tribe. Qoyllor's home was so far away, but at night the twinkling stars seemed to greet her as if they were her brothers and sisters themselves, and she was happy. But the silent Ukuku became even more gloomy, as if something were tormenting him.Ukuku had an envious and cunning neighbor, Pochica, who, from time to time, began speaking badly of Ukuku in front of Qoyllor, embellishing his stories with malicious barbs. He said she was like a bird that had had its wings clipped, locked in a cage. At first, Qoyllor paid no attention to this gossip, but over time, doubts began to creep into her heart. She didn't want to make a big deal out of nothing, so she tried to uncover the truth through playful remarks. Under the pressure of her questioning, Ukuku soon confessed that, in fact, he long ago found some star shards. But by that time, Ukuku had already developed feelings for her, so he decided not to give up the shards, to keep her on the ground. After hearing Ukuku's confession, Qoyllor felt sadness and anger. She had never known deceit and betrayal before, but now she understood how deeply they hurt. She really was a bird whose wings had been clipped. Realizing she could never forgive Ukuku, Qoyllor demanded the star shards back, but he refused. The hunter believed that everything would work out between them. Ignoring his pleas, Qoyllor left the tribe she had once considered home and set out to wander again. Like a true person of Natlan, she left a huge work of graffiti on the vast expanse of land so that her Sun-father could see it from the sky. Qoyllor's father heard her plea, quickly bringing her back to the sky, and since then, the star that had lost its power became dim and was now almost invisible unless you looked very closely. Ukuku, who had been left behind, his deceit and betrayal angered the Sun. As punishment, he was blinded by the Sun's golden arrows. From then on, wherever he went, the Sun would retreat behind the clouds, leaving him without a trace of sunlight.Related Entries:The Abyss InvasionDuring the war between the Descenders and the dragons, Natlan's Ley Lines were significantly damaged, and during the Cataclysm, they were almost completely destroyed, so the Abyss was not completely banished. For five hundred years, the Abyss grew in power by attacking the tribes. At first, the attacks seemed random, and the Abyss appeared to be a natural phenomenon, but it later turned out that the attacks occurred at the tribes' vulnerable points. Using memories stored in Natlan's Night Kingdom, the Abyss studied all the tribes' weaknesses, as if possessing a consciousness. And five hundred years after the Cataclysm, it launched a full-scale invasion of all the tribes of Natlan simultaneously.Allied with the Fatui under the leadership of the Harbinger Capitano, the Natlanese rushed to defend their tribes. Since the Scions of the Canopy were renowned for their couriers, they traveled throughout Natlan with adventurers from the Guild to relay information about enemy advances. Near the tribe's main settlement, the warriors established a temporary shelter to provide safety for the wounded and those unable to move quickly. But when the outpost was attacked by the Abyss, they were forced to evacuate the residents to the Stadium of the Sacred Flame and the tribe's main settlement.East of Teticpac Peak, on the main trade route from the Children of Echoes to the People of the Springs, monsters attacked caravanners, and the Fatui rushed to their defense. At Capitano's orders, they placed themselves under the command of the Pyro Archon. Although not everyone understood the decision, the word of the Harbinger was law, and the Fatui were ready to sacrifice their lives to protect the people. Then, Capitano himself departed for the Ancestral Temple. Since the path to the People of the Springs was too dangerous, the Fatui went to the Stadium to strengthen the defenses near the Sacred Flame.Despite all of Natlan's resistance, the Abyss Pylons, constantly creating monsters, appeared in ever-increasing numbers, and the Abyss itself used its main weapon: Gosoythoth. The immense energy of the Abyss took on an unimaginable form, looming over Natlan and casting a shadow over the entire sky. Many territories, including Teticapac Peak and the Ancestral Temple, were completely overrun by monsters, and all life there was destroyed. A temporary refuge near the Scions of the Canopy settlement was attacked by monsters again. Some warriors went to evacuate the civilians, but of those who remained, only one survived. Among the sheltering residents, only the elderly remained, who were forced to take up arms.Over time, the entire territory of Coatepec Mountain became overrun by the Abyssal monsters. Chief Wayna called for the evacuation of the main settlement, but many people died in the battle. Among them was Vichama, who excelled at scouting and analyzing the battlefield. He once helped the Traveler and friends find the Ancient Name of a girl from the Children of Echoes, whom the Ode of Resurrection had failed to revive, in the Night Kingdom. During the Night Warden Wars five years ago, Vichama injured his leg and couldn't participate, and his team was unable to overcome the Abyss and perished. Among the dead was Vichama's close friend, with whom he had been inseparable. Afterward, Vichama fell into depression and blamed himself for everything. But the battle at the Scions of the Canopy settlement allowed him to fulfill his dream. He scouted the location and direction of the attacks, so Chief Wayna would have the safest way to evacuate. Vichama remained with the tribe until the very end, providing information for the future of his tribe and all of Natlan. He did not fear death, for he knew that in the Night Kingdom he would meet his friend again, and together they would witness the birth of a new Natlan. Besides Vichama, the tribe's courier, Wayta, and the adventurer Hunza also perished. The hero of the tribe, Kinich, was later appointed by the Pyro Archon to identify the dead from the remaining clues. The Pyro Archon, Mavuika, had already witnessed a battle of similar magnitude five hundred years ago, during the Cataclysm. Although the Natlanese at that time had managed to drive the Abyss into the depths of the Night Kingdom, they knew it would eventually erupt again. The Pyro Archon had a long and involved discussion with the heroes of each tribe, and finally came up with a five-hundred-year-long plan to save Natlan. During this time, the Archons and chiefs were to rebuild the tribes, and when the time came, the Wayob would again choose six heroes of Natlan with the Ancient Names of Xbalanque's companions. In the present day, when all six heroes necessary for Mavuika's plan were recognized by their Ancient Names, she used their power and the power of the divine throne to banish the Abyss. This power helped destroy the previously invulnerable Abyss Tumors, and the Ode of Resurrection enabled the resurrection of all Natlanese who had perished after using this power. Thanks to the Natlanese's bravery, Coatepec Mountain and other tribes were recaptured, and Mavuika was able to attack Gosoythoth, forcing it to flee into the Night Kingdom.
