When the ancient god who once ruled Chenyu Vale had perished in foreign lands, and Rex Lapis's order assumed control of the land, those ancient forebears amidst their mountainous wilds slowly accepted the civilization of Liyue and lost the ancient art of carving jade jewelry. Today, only some artisans of Yilong Port still make such jade ornaments.Yilongis located north of Chenyu Vale and is one of the most important trading ports in the region, connecting Liyue and Fontaine. During one of the Lantern Rite Festivals, customers could buy Sunglo tea here with a fifty percent discount when buying 10 boxes. The port is home to the merchants Fengtai and Lianfang, as well as the Sword and Strongbox Secure Transport Agency, where Gaming works as a guard.There are eight key nodes in Liyue's Ley Line network called the gates. One such node, the Gate of Life, is located at Yilong Wharf. The Gate of Life symbolizes growth, prosperity, and revitalization and is the most auspicious of all eight gates. When the fetor began to pass through the boundary between life and death during one of the Lantern Rites, the people of the port began to age rapidly. The Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing, Ningguang, and the owner of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, Hu Tao, decided to use the Seven-and-Eight-Gates Method to hide the Gate of Death from the Ley Lines. The Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing, Keqing, went to Yilong Wharf to use the power of the gate and Director Hu's rattan figure to take on some of the fetor blast for her. In this way, the load would be distributed among all the gates, and Hu Tao would remain alive. That is why the mountain people avoid both like the plague, to avoid becoming entangled in spirit by those ancient sorrows.When the Archon War just ended, a mariner once entered the crisscrossed streams beneath Mt. Lingmeng and became lost in the damp dusk fog. Following azure avians never before seen even in dreams, he came into the cavern of slumber. Through the jade glow, the mariner gazed at the inhabitants of old. Lined up and standing on the bank of a deep pool, they sang a song the mariner had never heard before:"How mine malice lurks lonesome in the dying light of day! How the hateful wind bears the rain, how the deep fog veils!""None remain save a lone lord lamenting lost years — alas, alas! You came too late."When the figures stopped singing, they removed their jades and threw them into the pitch-black pool. Feeling despondency, the mariner quickly turned the paddle back and, leaving marks along the path, returned to Qiaoying Village. The Milleliths and surveyors tried to search for any mysterious settlements, but all without success. Only one doctor from Yilong Wharf, who entered Mt. Lingmeng in his youth, left a strange inkstone after his passing. Legend has it that it was the color of clear waters and bright as the high heavens.In this subarea, the quests,, and can be found.Related Entries:Qiaoying VillageQiaoying Village is located in the northeast of Chenyu Vale and is famous for its tea. The village is the only place where tea trees grow. According to legend, this was caused by an ancient pact between the Adepti of the Vale. In Chenyu Vale, people believe that tea tasting is closer to a ritual people practice after a busy day to relieve themselves of the bustle and clear their minds. Each type of tea has its own traditions. Yunlai White Tea is shaped like a silver needle and should not be brewed with boiling water. The water must be allowed to cool until it's at 70% of its boiling temperature. First, wet the tea with some hot water, then pour an appropriate amount of water into the pot, and wait patiently for ten minutes until the tea turns a light amber hue. Only then should you take a sip. The brewing steps are reversed for Bishui Green Tea. It requires pouring the water first, then the tea leaves. A Single-Origin Yauwan Tea, one of the teas Chenyu Vale is famous for, requires brewing at high temperatures. Boiling water must be used after letting it stand for a short moment.Chunming Teaworks is a tea processing workshop whose reputation extends far beyond Qiaoying Village. It utilizes traditional methods passed down for thousands of years to make tea alongside the best and newest machines for drying tea leaves and roasting tea, drawing out the fragrant aroma within. Perhaps this teaworks is the reason Qiaoying Village's tea is so famous.In the center of the village, there is a large tea cauldron, which the Adeptus Cloud Retainer once gave to the villagers. In the depths of the village, there is the house of a herbalist who used to collect rare plants. He said that he had a divine plant in his yard that needed that sort of blessed water to grow. One day, he encountered monsters at Mt. Xuanlian while collecting blessed water, and never came back. Qiaoying Village is home to Gaming and Little Mao, a friend of the Mountain Lord.The famous tea attracts tourists from all over Teyvat. Chenyu ValeLong ago, the people who now inhabit Chenyu Vale called thetheir home. Their settlements stretched from peak to peak, and life was centered around the mines. But the ancient sin lying buried beneath their feet and shovels was unknown to the mortals, hidden under the deepest shafts. After the Divine Nail, which Celestia used to seal the spill of filth, fell on the mines, the people went north.In ancient times, the ancestors of Chenyu Vale were able to communicate with the sky through jade. Celestia's emissaries, whose beauty was pure as moonlight, would lead and protect people. But after great changes in their "geology," they lost this ability. There's a legend saying that the jade scattered among the rocks came from the azure heavens. Celestia's envoys bestowed these beauteous gems upon the early residents and guided them to build a ritual jade altar that reached the heavens, so that they may receive the blessings and curses from above. While migrating from the south, people left many mighty temples and brought the ritual jade to Chiwang Terrace in Chenyu Vale. The jade tower is no more, and only silent, ancient ruins stand amidst the thick fog that shrouds the mountains, watching over a secret none now shall know. Later on, many tribes that descended from these ancestors kept this primordial, simple faith, and their reverence for jade was merged into the Liyue tradition, shaping the culture we see today.When Rex Lapis had not yet become the ruler of this place, Chenyu Vale had its own goddess, who once fulfilled the dreams of many people. They say that she wore a skirt of coagulated jade-blood, and leaned on the long-destroyed lunar chariot, submerged and slumbering beneath a black, bottomless pool of water. Before the Archon War, she was the mistress of Chenyu Vale, who ruled the birds, beasts, and Adepti of wild mountain nature, who controlled the ebb and flow of the Bishui River, as an arbiter maintained the natural balance between mortals and animals. Two Adepti served this demon lord from the past: Herblord, whose real appearance was a white snake with golden eyes, and Fujin, a golden carp. One day, Fujin defeated the ancient Suanni, Lingyuan, known as the Mountain Lord, who lived in the vale before the arrival of the people. Fujin did not kill the Suanni but became her friend along with Herblord. Although Lingyuan did not like people, she allowed Fujin to perform the Rainjade Rite, which changed the ley lines and elemental energy so that people could live in the vale. Because of these changes, even the tea growing in Qiaoying Village began to taste something that people would like. During the ritual, people threw magical jade into the river, which floated with the flow for a long time and then sank to the bottom. The last jade that people threw into the water before the ritual was forgotten during the Archon War was called the Votive Rainjade.Herblord used to take the form of a woman with fair skin and golden eyes to heal the sick and create medicines. One day, she planted an Adeptal Tree and decorated the gates leading to this tree with colorful butterflies. Then the mechanism that powered the tree was destroyed and the tree dried up, but Herblord said that as long as the vivid butterflies did not fly away, the tree could be revived."As the vivid butterflies converge in the jar, the adeptal energy surges anew, akin to new life restored to a withered tree...""...Born in winter, thriving and withering through time. But I yearn for spring when beauty is regained..."In ancient times, people carved statues of ritual spirits to protect their homes, which were called Sacred Simulacra. People from the village believe that the Carp-Adeptus, Fujin, planted the first tea tree, so they held tea ceremonies in gratitude to this Adeptus. To help the village, Cloud Retainer once made a special cauldron, which has three connected monoliths specially designed to prevent chaotic elemental energy. One day, these three mechanisms started acting strangely, and tea masters invited a researcher from Fontaine, Hautemontagne, to investigate the problem. Thanks to her and the Traveler's help, elemental flow in the monoliths was restored, and the cauldron was repaired, allowing the village to start making tea again.Chenyu Vale is famous not only for its tea but also for its crafts. Silver-smithing, jade-carving, cloth-dying, rattan-weaving, and countless other crafts — Chenyu Vale is famed as the home of the most outstanding and accomplished artisans in each field. Skilled, dextrous, and creative are but a few words that could be used to describe them. Many of these artisans have lived and worked together for generations, honing their crafts in the picturesque hamlet of Qiaoying Village. The village tradespeople chose to form a collective to protect their shared interests and now proudly announce themselves as members of the Chenyu Vale Artisans Association, spreading prestige for their hometown and their skills everywhere they go. Members of the association not only look out for each other in crafting and trade, but they form a close-knit, neighborly group who are always there for each other in good times and in bad.When it comes time for the residents of Chenyu Vale to spruce up their homes, there is more than just the usual panoply of intricately carved wooden beds and tables on offer. They also have a fine selection of wickerwork furnishings to choose from — delicately crafted by their own master rattan weaver. The rattan weaving process consists of several stages: gathering the vines, processing them, and weaving them. Different vines are suitable for weaving different items. For example, a folding screen requires a certain stubborn resilience, while woven flower baskets, in contrast, require vines of a more supple nature. The most famous rattan weaver is a young girl named Lan Yan. Despite her youth, she excels at weaving all manner of rattan goods while also having a grasp on the arcane Qimen arts. It is said that "skills honed to the highest pinnacle produce art that touches the divine realm." The venerable masters believe that anyone who reaches the apex of their craft will uncover abilities that cut through the spiritual divide. To them, Lan Yan — with her Vision and attunement to the Qimen arts — is a truly remarkable young woman.Much like the exorcists who dwell on Mt. Tianheng, the Lan clan, with their affinity for the Qimen arts, have long made Chenyu Vale their home. One such art requires the use of rattan figures, which is why weaving is so highly valued by the clan. The Lan family is also associated with the "Eight Adepts," who are significant figures in Liyue's history and once fought against the god Tao Dou. Of these eight heroes, the Jade-Plumed Silverwing, Lone Butterfly of the Crimson Flame, and Gold-Eyed Celadon Mare are known as the Three Beasts of Tao Dou. Of the remaining five, Wind Reader, the Wuwang Kid, and the Yunlai Angler were honored as the Three Hermits of Guizang. They and the Two Sages of Lianshan were all human. The Jade-Plumed Silverwing had a deep connection with Wind Reader, who was a truly remarkable individual. He came from the Twelve Tribes of Chenyu Vale and was the first to teach the Lan clan the secrets of the Qimen arts. This art involves Pentad Fortune Conveyance and Fate Transference, so many people are suspicious of it. When the owner of the Feiyun Commerce Guild fell seriously ill and went into a coma during the Lantern Rite, a rattan doll made by the Lan clan was found in his room, and people thought that the doll was cold and caused the owner's illness. In fact, this doll was made by Lan Yan and had the Sign of Vaisravana, one of the four main exorcism sigils, on it. She hoped that the doll would protect the guild owner and other patients with similar symptoms from the fetor. In addition, the craftswoman created rattan dolls to serve as a barrier on the border between life and death, through which monsters would not penetrate. Years ago, it was known as the "Beacon of the Nether" by the mountain bandits, because seeing it meant there was no way back. Legend has it that Guhua was an Adeptus. While he lived, bandits dared not act and the wilderness knew a peace like that of the city. At the end of his journey, Guhua ascended to the heavens in a purple haze and became a star. After the Grand Master passed away, Master Baixuan, who once received his favor, established the Guhua Brotherhood in his name and called himself a disciple of Guhua to carry on the grand master's legacy. The disciples founded Wangshan Hall, which was known before as the "Lingmeng Chamber."It was said that the Clan harbored three great secret arts — the ways of the "Light Piercer" for polearms, "Rain Cutter" for swords, and "Life Ender" for those who excelled in both. It is said that "Life Ender" could slice wind, split waves, and destroy mountains. The three arts would be refined over the generations, and with time would reach their apex. Yet the Clan's strength would continue to wane, leading to them losing their influence. The three arts became diamonds hidden in the rough, quietly awaiting a successor.After many years of decline, Xingqiu from the Feiyun Commerce Guild became interested in the Guhua Clan. He successfully grasped the ancient "Martial Principle" after merely four years of study. Xingqiu thought that the basis of the polearm and sword was the use of a Vision. Martial artists were meant to see a Vision as an extension of themselves and see their weapon as an extension of the Vision. Having come to this epiphany, Xingqiu took up a quill and penned a verse on the Martial Principle, which has been sealed up at the Clan headquarters at Wangshan Hall."Guhua's arts I have studied long, in its secrets I am trained, now its long-lost depths fall upon me like the coming of blessed rain.The beating heart of Guhua's sword art is as a shower of floating flowers. One amidst may seize a bloom, but those without read only doom.The Guhua lance is a lantern's dance, like flames in night's deep glooming. Like sparks, they scatter with ease in the dark, then join like the daybreak looming.They say the sword is as your arm — I say its glint is the beholder's eye, a light like the bright dawn coming.Those who wander are burdened not. Freely they cut rain, and enlightened they pierce light. Like a snaking dragon, they cannot be subdued. In their right eye the blade, and in the other the spear."Unfortunately, Wangshan Hall, the main house of the Guhua Clan and where Grand Master Guhua attained enlightenment, became unusable, and even the current Master merely visits occasionally.Related Entries:Archon WarWhen the Heavenly Principles declared war for the divine throne and rule of Teyvat, Fujin and Herblord's master fought against Morax. According to Fujin, her lord went mad seeking the position of a god who may rule this world, or she was simply trying to survive because she understood that she could not defeat Rex Lapis. In a desperate attempt to reverse fate, she caused the Bishui River to overflow its banks, destroying everything downstream. Herblord and Fujin could not allow people to die, so they went against their goddess. According to legend, Herblord delayed the goddess with a battle, and Fujin threw the Votive Rainjade into the water, which stopped the river from flooding. Fujin released the Adeptal energy from the Jade Pendant to cause the ground to open up and swallow the Bishui River, allowing the Jademouth to grow and stabilize the flow. Lingyuan summoned her familiars, the Xuanwen beasts, to help her friends and drive the people into the caves. During the war, Fujin and Herblord spent all their energy, and Herblord lost the ability to take on her human form, leaving her trapped as a white snake.Indigenous folks tell tales of how the mistress of Chenyu Vale started a war out of incurable obsession, before ultimately being defeated, sealed, and plunged into deathly, dreaming slumber, the relevant historical details can now no longer be verified. The sole piece of evidence that supports this tale is this song of lamentation that Chenyu Vale locals once sang:"Though I wish to gift you herbs, who shall leave it at the sandbank amidst the waters?""Where now fly the godly banners? The chariot is lost in the lightless bamboo wood.""How terrible the Xuanwen wail, who think upon the darkened pool."Related Entries:Chenyu's Blessings of Sunken JadeThousands of years later, when Herblord found her home in Liyue Harbor, and Fujin had not yet regained her powers and could not even take on human form, the Mountain Lord decided to return Chenyu lands to their state before the arrival of people. She believed that she, the carps, and the snakes all came from nature, so she wanted to return everything to the form that was at their birth. Then the rivers rose and fell with the rains, their paths were not fixed, the tea trees and flowers were not trimmed or cultivated, nor did they exist for humanity. Lingyuan believed that in such an environment, Fujin would regain her true carp form and spiritual strength and frolic in the great rivers. For many years, the Mountain Lord was changing the spirit veins, due to which the soil deteriorated, a thick fog arose, and miasma spread through the vale.Fujin, who cares about the people of the vale, asked for the help of the Traveler to restore the spirit veins and change the soil. The Adeptus did not have enough strength to perform the Rainjade Rite herself, so she needed help. She didn't want Qiaoying Village, famous for its tea, to lose its reason for existence. Thanks to Traveler, Paimon, and Lingyuan's friend, Little Mao, Fujin was able to gain enough strength to perform a ritual on the sacred mountain and stop Lingyuan. The Suanni accepted defeat and, for the sake of her friend, agreed not to interfere with caring for people.On the Chiwang Terrace, where all the spirit veins of Chenyu Vale converge, Fujin transmitted her Adeptal energy throughout the vale to restore the water and soil. Having spent all her powers on the ritual, she again lost the ability to take human form but was happy to return her friend and save people.
