An ancient ruin-studded mountain range across the water from the Court of Fontaine. Many, many centuries ago, the followers of Egeria once saw this place as a prime location for excursions and picnics. Gathered here, they sang of love and dreams as pure and stainless as polished gems. Their songs have long faded into the pale moonlight, and now, only cool breezes continue to caress these lonely, mint-studded highlands.

ElynasA lush mountain ridge in southern Fontaine that's widely acclaimed for its beauty yet rarely visited by locals and tourists alike. The home of the Melusine village, the Merusea Village, is hidden beneath its mountains and lakes. Legends have it that the tall mountains are what remains of the giant beast Elynas. Erosion from wind and dust has transformed the body of the beast into a home for countless souls. Its skeleton has become one with the surrounding mountains. Those who see this with their own eyes are prone to wonder — why did it come here in the first place, and why did it choose to stop?On the ridge, you can see the ruins of the ancient civilization of Fontaine. Although almost all of the ruins have the same architecture, one part is different and more closely resembles the architecture of Enkanomiya or the ancient civilization from the Chasm. In such ruins, one of the Enigmatic Pages can be found. In the east of the island, there is a unique hot spring, which offers views of the peaks of Mon Atomnequi and the Tower of Ipsissimus. Anti-Adventurers' Guild artist Salsa once painted a landscape here. In the south of the ridge, there is a small village where the final scenes of the film "The Two Musketeers," directed by Furina and produced by Xavier, took place. Despite all the difficulties that arose during filming, "The Two Musketeers'' won the main award at the Fontinalia Film Festival. The film was based on the book of the same name and starred Kamisato Ayaka from Inazuma and the Captain of the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol, Chevreuse. All over the surface of Elynas, there are "passages" — rifts that provide the way for Abyssal monsters to the world of Teyvat. Such ruptures may be related to the origin of the beast Elynas. To the north of the ridge, in a cave with ancient ruins, there is a Hydro Tulpa — a humanoid monster formed from the agglomeration of water. How do the newborn Hydro Tulpas form? Countless wills dissolved in the water, which, like the universe, was full of souls that wished to be born. Wills and souls are not as different. The sun can't distinguish them, and neither can time, the surging tides, or even the darkness that permeates everything. When Hydro Tulpas disperse, only the substance similar to the crystals extracted from the bodies of Fontemer Aberrants remains. These crystals contain a lot of tiny impurities, like the bubbles in glass crafted by clumsy craftsmen. In this location, the quest Ancient Colors with the Melusine artist Mamere can be found.Related Entries:Merusea VillageMerusea Village is the homeland of the Melusines and is located within the petrified body of their "Father," Elynas. The houses built by the Melusines under Elynas's guidance have a unique architecture. Between Merusea Village and other parts of Elynas, there are special portals that allow you to instantly teleport from one point to another. The village head is Serene, and many other Melusines live there: an artist Mamere; a gardener Cosanzeana; a chemist Carabosse, and her assistant, Verenata; Puca who is interested in ore; a fisher Iara; a seamstress Flo; an artisan Sluasi; Canotila who is deciphering the Book of Esoteric Revelations; Ahes who interested in the ship "Sponsian" and its Captain, Basil Elton; as well as several Melusines preparing to join the Marechaussee Phantom. Melusine Laume also lives there and is studying hard to become a real journalist. She is working on her newspaper, recording everything that happens every day into it, and making drawings. The first Melusine who joined the Marechaussee Phantom, Carole, was also born in Merusea Village.Melusine Lutine cooks the best dishes in the entire Merusea Village. Melusines use ingredients sourced nearby to make delicious dishes that match their tastes. Their specialties are well-known among niche gourmets, and The Steambird even included the "trying Merusea Village cuisine" in their "100 Heroic Challenges to Try This Year" feature, where Melusines' cuisine was ranked No.20. Although Lutine's dishes are inedible to look at and their stimulating scent makes your eyes swell up, they turn out to be very tasty, and after a single bite, the pungent flavors also become surprisingly amiable. One of Melusine's special dishes is Poissonchant pie, which is made from fish, bacon, flour, and eggs. It looks like a tool to cast some kind of forbidden magic due to the fish heads that stick out from the cake and stare at the eyes, gleaming with a strange light. For Melusines, these heads look like a choir in a picture book, with everyone holding their heads up high and singing happily. Despite its peculiar appearance, the pie tastes great.Elynas created Breacher Primuses to protect his daughters, the Melusines. Some of them attempt to breed them as pets. Melusines see them as sweet and affectionate creatures, the sight of which lifts their spirits. The currency of Merusea Village is the spare parts of the Meks that remained in Elynas after the battle of the Marechaussee Hunters with members of the Narzissenkreuz Ordo. If you collect enough parts, you can exchange them with the merchant Xana for something valuable. In a cave below the village, there is a musical instrument called the conch harp, which looks like a large seashell. The only one who knows how to play it is Topyas, a musical performer. Her "token" is a piece of conch harps, so her first memories of the world are related to music. Some ancient Remurian scores were written exclusively for this instrument, and only a few experts in Remurian writing can decipher them. One day, Topyas found one of these scores, "Melody of Vesta," and wanted to play it for her sister Mamere as a farewell. When Mamere heard the melody, she saw tall towers and magnificent ships. In the village, there is a legend about the Crab Demon Emperor, who was defeated by the Ultimate Overlord's Mega Magic Sword. Long ago, in the distant seas dwelt the great Crab Demon Emperor. The hoard of gold in the Crab's treasury was as high as Mont Automnequi, and his clicking crab claws could easily scare those who antagonized the Emperor, but His Majesty complained about the lack of friends. One day, the Crab Demon Emperor met a little Melusine who invited it to play. Although the Crab Emperor in truth was glad to see the Melusine, he refused: "An overlord cannot play with little Melusines, or he shall lose his kingly majesty." He said that no emperor gives up their rule, but if some hero defeated the demon lord using their holy blade, then a former overlord could play with the Melusine. The Melusine returned to the Merusea Village and told the story to her sisters. They arrayed her with a great seashell for a shield, crowned her with a seagrass laurel, and canvas from a wrecked ship within Elynas they brought for her cloak. At last, they armed her with a rare piece of dried cardboard — her treasured sword. Thus did the Melusine heroine embark on a journey to defeat the Crab Demon Emperor, and with her peerless magical blade did she cast the marauding tyrant down. From then on, Mr. Crab, no longer a demon lord, would become the Melusines' good friend. In this subarea, the world quests,,,,,,, and can be found.Related Entries:"A Very Warm Place""A Very Warm Place" is Elynas's heart. When the Abyssal beast stopped fighting and died 500 years ago, his body was petrified. Over 400 years ago, the Narzissenkreuz Ordo’s leader sent Jakob Ingold and other members of the order to divert the attention of the Marechaussee Hunters and revive the heart through the ritual. Since Jakob Ingold used Elynas's flesh and blood to enhance his powers, he tried to revive the heart again 400 years later, but Elynas feared that this would lead to the destruction of the Merusea Village and the death of his daughters. Thanks to the help of the Traveler and Mamere, the only Melusine capable of hearing Elynas, Jakob was stopped. During Jakob's ritual, Elynas's entire body began to become contaminated with his blood, which was poisonous to others and caused hallucinations in the Traveler. After the battle with Jakob, Elynas asked Mamere to draw a picture with his blood, with which he could contact the Traveler.Near Elynas's heart, there is the "Book of Revealing," which contains enigmatic pages written by Rene de Petrichor about the prophecy and creation of the Narzissenkreuz Ordo. The book leads into subspace, showing a possible future when even mint and sweet flowers don't grow. Some parts of "The World Within the Book" are similar to the ruined ancient civilization in the Chasm and Enkanomiya, which fell to the Dark Sea. Melusine Canotila, who was deciphering the book, saw this subspace as a beautiful garden with big trees and flowers, where birdsong can be heard. Only after deciphering the entire book does Canotila see the true appearance of subspace.Related Entries:"A Lonely Place""A Lonely Place" is one of the body parts of petrified Elynas. Inside the subarea, there are the wrecks of various ships, including ships from Inazuma, and even the tower of a building that Elynas probably swallowed. In addition, Breacher Primuses live here — a strange life form created by Elynas to protect his daughters. The nature of a Breacher Primus defies known categories: they are not animals, plants, Shroom-Kin, nor Elementals. The debate among scholars of Sumeru never formally reached a consensus on just what it is, until it was finally banned as a research topic. The reason is that based on the current system of knowledge, this problem is like "the definitions prescribed by language and the true nature of things," and it is impossible to have a meaningful, final answer. There is no way to exterminate this life form. One reduced to nothing but its core will resurrect the next day or in decades. Luckily, it is neither aggressive nor intelligent, so Fontainians can just keep their distance. In this subarea, the world quests and can be found.Related Entries:"A Very Bright Place""A Very Bright Place" is one of the body parts of petrified Elynas. When Jakob Ingold tried to perform a ritual to revive Elynas, tremors started inside the beast’s body, and "passages" appeared. Melusines Glaisti and Puca were in danger inside "A Very Bright Place." When the Rift Hounds broke out of the passage, Glaisti hid in a crack in the stone, and the creatures drove Puca into a seaweed trap. Elynas asked Mamere to save his daughters, and, together with the Traveler, she freed Puca.It turned out that Puca and Glaisti came to "A Very Bright Place" to collect various stones and ore, which Puca was interested in. Later, the Traveler and Paimon took this ore to Chesil in the Court of Fontaine. Although the material lost its beauty during processing, it was useful for the manufacture of watch mechanisms due to its extraordinary strength. As a sign of gratitude, Chesil gave the first watch to Puca and asked the Traveler to bring even more ore. In addition, he was going to make a special waterproof series of watches in the shape of pearls especially for the Melusines. In this subarea, the world quest can be found.Related Entries:Elton TrenchIts subtle brightness has led many a diver to underestimate its depth, but alarm bells always start ringing again once they catch sight of the shipwrecks that litter its abyssal bowels. Nearby waters are haunted by ghostly legends, but this makes it the perfect place to hide for those who seek secrecy. The Elton Trench was named after the head of the Fontaine fleet and the captain of the ship Sponsian, Basil Elton. In the glorious past, the pure white ironclad flagship "Sponsian" was the pride of Fontaine's Navy and the darlings of the Court of Fontaine. One day, they destroyed the golem legion and defeated an abysmal crab that was attacking ships. Many legends and performances in the old opera house were made about the "White Armada" and "Sponsian." Of them, the most memorable performance appears to be the final battle of the armada: A heroic battle with a formidable barrage performed by ten battleship cannons onstage, with the details having been reconstructed from the records of Basil Elton's First Mate. When the fleet was completely disbanded due to the armada ceasing to exist forevermore, Basil was assigned to be the Vice Director at the Narzissenkreuz Institute, the Fontaine orphanage where Basil herself grew up. When Fontaine was overrun by monsters from the Abyss 500 years ago, Basil returned to the bridge of the Sponsian and led a fleet to defend Fontaine. For about 35 days they followed the giant beast from the Abyss, Elynas, destroying other monsters. The ships Caledones and Venicones were destroyed, and the Sponsian itself was broken in two in the battle with Elynas. Basil Elton herself died in this battle and never returned to the children from the orphanage. Almost everyone except the Captain, Chief Engineer, and the First Mate, Nathaniel Pickman, abandoned the ship before it was destroyed. At the bottom of the Elton Trench lies the wreckage of ships destroyed in a battle with the Abyssal monsters. One half of the "Sponsian" was stuck in the body of Elynas, and another ghostly half of the ship can be seen in the Elton Trench wandering in the waters. If you touch the ship, you can hear echoes of the memories of the ship's crew."...Oh leave her, sailors, leave her...""...Tomorrow you'll get your pay, and it's time for us to leave her...""...Oh leave her, sailors, leave her...""For the voyage is done and the winds don't blow, so it's time for us to leave her...""...No grog allowed and rotten grub, and it's time for us to leave her...""...Oh leave her, sailors, leave her...""...The sails all furled, our work is done, and it's time for us to leave her..."One day, Melusine Ahes became interested in the fate of Captain Basil and her ship and, with the help of the Traveler, discovered the remains of the "Sponsian" and logbooks remaining from the fleet. In the end, the Traveler was able to hear Basil's voice talking about Ahes. Although Ahes was the daughter of Elynas, who killed Basil, she did not hold a grudge against her."Blue, like a little sailor... I saw her... Haha...""She had the scent of sea monsters on her...""But she is a good child. Perhaps she will not get my flagship dirty..."
Lore
Elynas and MelusinesBefore he was born, Elynas floated in the cosmic darkness in cold and loneliness. He was so sad, so he would often cry. Later he heard Mother's voice, who wished for Elynas to be born into a beautiful world. She gave him life, a strong and healthy body that could walk the world, and a beautiful name. She wanted to give him many siblings, to meet many friends, and to see the beautiful sights beyond that cosmic dark. Elynas's elder siblings treated him well, and later, Elynas learned to take care of his younger siblings.Later, Elynas along with his siblings left the world beneath the earth. He felt the wind brushing against his skin, the warmth of the sun, waters icy and warm. At first, Elynas was happy, but he soon discovered that what seemed interesting and funny to him was scary and dangerous for others. He learned that his blood was poisoned and that he was bringing suffering and destruction to the people of Teyvat, but it was too late.Realizing that he only brought destruction and suffering, Elynas decided to stop fighting and die. He was filled with sorrow but yet was glad it was all over. Although his body and heart were petrified, he still retained consciousness and was therefore glad when people appeared in his body more than 400 years ago. It was Jakob Ingold and Rene de Petrichor, who used the flesh and blood of Elynas to research and improve the powers of the first Neohuman Jakob. But one day, many other creatures appeared in his body, including metal machines, a spirit of the primordial waters, and other people. There was a battle and an explosion inside Elynas's body that damaged his flesh, and from these wounds, the Melusines, Elynas's children, were born. Each Melusine was born with a shard of broken Meks, so they began considering these objects as their "token" that must be protected.Elynas loved his daughters so much and considered them beautiful. He often talked to them and taught them how to build a home for themselves. Then, there was happiness and liveliness everywhere. The Melusines founded the Merusea Village inside the Elynas's body, in which they lived for many years. Centuries later, almost all Melusines, except one, Mamere, lost the opportunity to communicate with their "Father" and forgot about him. Some began to consider him a caring "mother," while others simply do not remember their origins.Since the Melusines originated from a creature from the Abyss, they have a special vision and can notice what is hidden from the human eye. All Melusines are female, and Fontaine's Iudex Neuvillette even decreed that they should be addressed by the pronoun "she."Related Entries:Book of RevealingRoughly 500 years ago, Rene de Petrichor, an orphan from the Narzissenkreuz Institute, went on an expedition to Sumeru with his friend from the orphanage, Jakob, and his guardian, Karl Ingold. There he became fascinated by Khvarena and the Sacred Lotus, Gaokerena, created by The Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, from the consciousness of the former Hydro Archon, Egeria. During his research, he also discovered books from ancient civilizations and Khaenri'ahn records, which helped him decipher the books. Later, when Rene found the records of the Golden Troupe in the Remurian ruins, he compared the term he found, "Fortuna," with his calculation scheme, called the "world-formula," and deduced the imminence of another in Fontaine. After countless calculations, Rene received the same result: the apocalypse cannot be avoided. Furthermore, he discovered a method to extract "will," which he believed could offer protection from the flood's effects.Rene made it his life's goal to create Neohumans so that all Fontainians could survive the apocalypse. Together with Jakob Ingold, he founded the Narzissenkreuz Ordo, a secret esoteric organization. Rene recorded all his research in a book called the Book of Revealing. There he described his work at the Institute of Natural Philosophy and experiments on assistant Carter Scherbius, who was suffering from an incurable disease; experiments on Jakob to create the first Neohuman; special Remurian technique "Seal of Chymical Marriage;" extracting the will of people to obtain their knowledge and skills; the construction of the Tower of Ipsissimus, with the help of which the Narzissenkreuz Ordo were going to extract the will of all the people in Fontaine; as well as his becoming Narzissenkreuz. The book led to a mysterious subspace that reflected a possible future after the apocalypse. To humans, the "World Within the Book" looked like ruins with monsters, but to the Melusines, creatures of the Abyss, it seemed like a beautiful garden. Inside the book, the Traveler, Paimon, and a Melusine, Canotila, met "Puppy" and their friend, Caterpillar. Puppy and Caterpillar were both parts of Carter Scherbius’s personality, a friend of Jakob and Rene. To Canotila, Puppy seemed like a cute dog, and the Melusine often came to play with it, until one day it asked her to leave and not come back. Puppy was afraid that "The World Within the Book" was beginning to collapse and was dangerous for others."What's important is the masters of this imaginary world. They believed that they could save the world, but they didn't know if this world actually needed to be saved. Maybe the world in their memories was but an afternoon forever bereft of blooming sunflowers. But those are their stories and not mine. I'm just a memory that they have of their friend. They once believed that they could save me, but ultimately...The butterfly became a cocoon, and a larva emerged from the cocoon. Then, the larva returned to the void that was never born. But none of these things matter. I have nothing left. I am just a shadow in their memories, left behind by their obsession to save me.I don't hate them, though. Even if they changed after losing me, my existence in this world of memories and delusions is proof of their persistence. As someone who was once their friend, I am more than satisfied. No matter what I become, I am forever grateful for the friendship we once had."After spending time in the decaying world of the book, Canotila finally saw its true appearance:"I don't know. I just wanted to see the blooming sunflowers and the cute puppy...But a monster came after me, and the sky got darker. I heard many voices talking about things that I didn't understand.I was scared, so I followed the golden light and ran forward. The world got a little darker whenever the monster came near. The garden, the palace, the great trees, and the flowers all disappeared. It was very gloomy, and I only saw ruins...And then the monster caught up to me…"After seeing the real "World Within the Book," Canotila decided to never touch the book again and stay in Merusea Village with her sisters.Caterpillar also felt the influence of the Book of Revealing. If earlier he could turn from a Hilichurl into a human, then he lost this opportunity because of the book and his mind began to fade.
