Fights in Chaos Zero Nightmare revolve around breaking an enemy's guard. That is the Tenacity and Ravage loop, and mastering it is the difference between a slog and a clean burst.
The Tenacity gauge
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Tenacity | A resistance-style gauge enemies hold during a fight |
| Wearing it down | Sustained damage and the right attacks chip it away |
| Break | Emptying Tenacity pushes the enemy into its Ravage State |
Ravage State — the payoff
When an enemy breaks, three things happen at once:
| On break | Effect |
|---|---|
| Enemy | Enters Ravage State — vulnerable to extra damage |
| Your team | Gains +1 AP (an extra action point) |
| Pressure | Your Stress is reduced |
This is your burst window: unload your strongest skills while the enemy is exposed.
How to break faster
| Do this | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Keep pressure on | Steady hits drain Tenacity so it does not recover |
| Line up type advantage | A ×1.25 Attribute advantage means each hit does more |
| Save big skills for the break | Ravage + Vulnerable is where huge hits pay off most |
