ZZZ Bangboo Guide — Best Bangboos, How to Get Them & the Bangboo Banner | Zenless Zone Zero
Bangboos are small companions — each team equips one to buff, restore energy, or add extra damage. You pull S-Rank Bangboos from their own banner (the Bangboo Channel) with an 80-pull hard pity and a 1% base rate — there's no 50/50, and from Version 3.0 you can target a specific S-Rank Bangboo so it's guaranteed to be the one you chose. This banner uses its own currency, Boopon, which is earned entirely for free in-game (you can't buy it with money or Polychrome).
What a Bangboo is and why every team wants one
Bangboos are little robot companions that ride along with your squad. Every team has a dedicated Bangboo slot that doesn't take a spot from your three Agents, so it's essentially free added power. Depending on the one you equip, a Bangboo can regenerate energy, throw up a shield, heal, or jump in for extra damage when you trigger a Chain Attack.
Bangboos come in S-Rank and A-Rank. You get a few for free through the story and events, but most of the strongest S-Rank Bangboos come from their own banner. Since every team can run one, owning a handful of good Bangboos for different roles (damage, energy, healing) is well worth the investment.
The Bangboo banner: 80 pity, 1% rate, no 50/50
Bangboos have their own banner called the Bangboo Channel, separate from the Agent and W-Engine banners. It's the most forgiving pull in ZZZ:
- 80-pull hard pity to guarantee an S-Rank Bangboo (lower than the 90 on Agent banners).
- 1% base S-Rank rate — higher than the Agent banner's 0.6%; every 10 pulls guarantees at least one A-Rank.
- No 50/50 mechanic. This is the key point: you can't "lose" to an off-banner unit.
From Version 3.0, before pulling you can select a specific S-Rank Bangboo as your target; when the pity delivers an S-Rank, it's a 100% guaranteed copy of the one you chose. You can change your target anytime without losing your pity. Before 3.0, the S-Rank you got was random among the available Bangboos.
Boopon: a separate currency, earned only for free in-game
The Bangboo Channel does not use Polychrome or Master Tapes like the Agent banner. It uses its own currency, the Boopon. The exchange is simple: 1 Boopon = 1 pull, or 10 Boopons for a 10-pull.
The key thing to know: Boopons can't be bought with real money, nor traded from Polychrome — unlike Encrypted Master Tapes. You earn them purely through play, including:
- Hollow Zero and the Bangbuck exchange shop
- Commissions and achievement rewards
- Battle Pass, login events, and regular events
Because they're entirely free, just bank your Boopons steadily and spend them on the Bangboo you need most.
Soft pity and separate pity from other banners
Like the other banners, the Bangboo Channel has a soft pity — the zone before 80 where the S-Rank rate ramps up, so you usually land a Bangboo before pull 80. HoYoverse hasn't published official numbers; per community tracking, Bangboo soft pity starts around pulls 64-75.
Important: the Bangboo Channel's pity is completely separate from the Agent and W-Engine banners. Pulling Bangboos builds no pity toward Agents and vice versa — they're counted independently. To see what pull you're on and estimate your hard pity, use gamevika's ZZZ pity counter to track all three banner types.
Best Bangboo ranking by role
A Bangboo's strength depends on the team you run it in, so pick by role rather than rank alone. Here are the S-Rank Bangboos the community rates highest as of July 2026 (rankings shift by version and by site):
- Ice anomaly damage — Sharkboo: the top pick for Ice teams, piling on huge Ice anomaly buildup for frequent freezes.
- Faction physical damage — Amillion & Safety: Amillion shines with Cunning Hares, Safety with Belobog Heavy Industries; both add a strong hit on Chain Attacks.
- Energy regen — Butler: the reliable energy specialist that speeds up your skill rotations.
- Healing — Avocaboo: valuable because healing is scarce in ZZZ, great for boss fights.
- Shielding — Paperboo: shields the whole team for solid damage mitigation.
If you can only afford one, prioritize the Bangboo that fits your strongest team: Sharkboo for Ice, Butler for energy-starved teams, Avocaboo or Paperboo for teams that need to survive longer.
Tips: who to spend Boopons on and when
Since Boopons are free but slow to accrue, spend them with a plan:
- Save up before you pull. There's no 50/50, so you don't need to "owe a guarantee" — just bank toward 80 to lock in your target.
- From 3.0, always set your target before pulling so the S-Rank is exactly the Bangboo you want — no waste on duplicates or off-role units.
- Prioritize the Bangboo that fills a team gap (energy, healing, or anomaly for your main element) over one that just "sounds strong."
A Bangboo is a long-term investment used across many teams, so picking the right role matters more than chasing rank. Before pulling, it's easy to check your pull count across all three banners with the ZZZ pity counter.
- 1Save up BooponsNo 50/50, so there's no guarantee to wait out
- 2Set your target firstFrom 3.0, lock in the exact S-Rank you want
- 3Fill your team's gapPick by needed role, not by what sounds strong
FAQ
Does pulling Bangboos cost Polychrome or money?
No. The Bangboo Channel only uses Boopons, and Boopons can't be bought with real money or traded from Polychrome. You earn them for free via Hollow Zero, commissions, the Battle Pass, and events. One Boopon equals one pull.
Does the Bangboo banner have a 50/50 like the Agent banner?
No. The Bangboo Channel has no 50/50. Hard pity is 80 pulls at a 1% base rate. From Version 3.0 you select a target S-Rank Bangboo, and when the pity delivers an S-Rank it's a 100% guaranteed copy of that one; changing your target doesn't reset pity.
Is Bangboo pity shared with the Agent banner?
No. The Bangboo Channel's pity is completely separate from the Agent and W-Engine banners and counted independently. Pulling Bangboos builds no pity toward Agents, and vice versa. You can track all three with gamevika's pity counter.
