Story Summary
This 9-chapter Myth opens with the heroine waking from a fever in a hazy, hospital-like home, cared for by Caleb, before the story reveals she is officially reporting to the Farspace Fleet under his command as Colonel. As Fleet secrets, a captured Tuum officer, and Caleb's own trauma from an abandonment-linked chip surface, Caleb becomes increasingly possessive, at one point telling her he would rather fake her death than let her leave him. After a violent confrontation leaves Caleb badly injured, the heroine hides him away, erases his fleet identity, and tries to "rewrite" him into an amnesiac version of himself so they can start over, but the deception cannot hold. In the final chapters the truth catches up to them and the opening dream sequence recurs, this time reframed as the story loops back on itself around Caleb's fractured memory.
