Arkhe

Arkhe is one of the main energy sources used in Fontaine. Fontainian vision holders inherit either Pneuma or Ousia alignment as a special attribute while Hydro Traveler has Pneuma alignment. It consists of two opposing forces: Pneuma and Ousia.PneumaOusiaWhen Pneuma Aligned energy meets Ousia Aligned energy, an Annihilation reaction will be triggered. The Annihilation reaction as a special interaction is useful in both exploration and combat.Obtaining an Arkhe alignmentThere are two ways to get a Pneuma or Ousia alignment:Fontainian characters and Hydro Traveler have an innate Arkhe alignmentThe player can pick up Pneumousia blocks while exploring Fontaine.Any character can pick up a Pneuma or Ousia block and obtain the specific alignment for 60s. It will remain despite teleporting to a different location or swapping the deployed team, or until another block is picked up. Fontainian characters can use their specific attacks to immediately trigger the effect corresponding to their Arkhe with a fixed cooldown. They can also pick up either blocks regardless of their innate alignment.Picking up a Pneuma energy block will give Pneuma alignmentPicking up an Ousia energy block will give the Ousia alignmentPicking up an Ousia energy block while having obtained Pneuma alignment previously will cause AnnihilationApplicationLand ExplorationArkhe application with characters with innate alignmentFontainian characters and Hydro Traveler can apply Arkhe when they use a specific attack dependent on the specific character. It can be Normal Attack (Ex:, ), Elemental Skill (Ex:, ), Ultimate Skill (Ex: )When used according to the specifications, Arkhe is applied in a follow up attack that can deal Elemental DMG without Elemental application. Pneuma aligned characters release "Spiritbreath Thorns" while Ousia aligned characters release "Surging Blades". They have a separate cooldown and do not require a target to be unleashed.Pneuma - Spiritbreath ThornsOusia - Surging BladesSpiritbreath Thorn and Surging Blade deal AoE damage, so they can trigger many Annihilation reactions at once.Arkhe application using Pneumousia blocksWhen a character picks up a Pneumousia block, the next Normal / Charged / Plunging Attack that hits an Arkhe aligned object or any enemy will apply the stored energy without dealing additional DMG. Bow users can use an Aimed shot to apply the Arkhe.Using Ousia energy on a Pneuma aligned enemyUsing Ousia energy on a Pneuma aligned objectUnderwater ExplorationArkhe application with characters with innate alignmentWhen underwater, Normal Attacks are replaced with Transoceanic Sourcewater attacks, which can be used to release Arkhe energy. If the character has an innate Arkhe alignment, the Transoceanic Sourcewater will shine differently depending on the Arkhe alignment.Appearance of Transoceanic Sourcewater with a Pneuma aligned characterAppearance of Transoceanic Sourcewater with an Ousia aligned characterArkhe application using Pneumousia blocks Characters with innate Arkhe alignment can trigger energies without the use of Pneumousia Blocks. If a character with an innate Arkhe alignment picks up a Pneumousia block getting the opposite Arkhe, the next attack will apply Pneuma and Ousia at the same time.CharactersThe Arkhe alignments of characters can be confirmed by several methods: the design of their vision, character preview page and Combat Talent page.Pneuma aligned Hydro Vision bearerOusia aligned Hydro Vision bearerCharacters with Arkhe alignmentCharacterArkhe alignment and TalentAlignment: PneumaVersion Released: 4.0Type: Elemental SkillTalent: After using Torrent Surge, a Spiritbreath Thorn is unleashed dealing Pneuma-aligned Hydro DMG (CD: 9s).Alignment: OusiaVersion Released: 4.0Type: Elemental SkillTalent: When she uses Enigma Thrust, a Surging Blade is unleashed dealing Ousia-aligned Anemo DMG (CD: 10s).Alignment: PneumaVersion Released: 4.0Type: Charged Attack - Level II aim attackTalent: The Prop Arrow causes a Spiritbreath Thorn to descend upon its hit location dealing Pneuma-aligned Pyro DMG (CD: 6s).Alignment: PneumaVersion Released: 4.0Type: Elemental Skill - Initial attackTalent: After using the upward thrust, a Spiritbreath Thorn in the form of another upward thrust is created dealing Pneuma-aligned Cryo DMG (CD: 9s).Alignment: PneumaVersion Released: 4.1Type: Elemental SkillTalent: When the Raging Waterfall descends, a Spiritbreath Thorn descends piercing enemies and dealing Pneuma-aligned Hydro DMG (CD: 15s).Alignment: OusiaVersion Released: 4.1Type: Elemental BurstTalent: After Icicle Impact ends, a Surging Blade will descend upon the opponent’s position dealing Ousia-aligned Cryo DMG (CD: 10s).Ousia alignmentPneuma alignmentAlignment: Pneuma and OusiaVersion Released: 4.2Type: Normal AttackTalent: When Furina’s Normal Attack hits, a Spiritbreath Thorn or a Surging Blade will descend based on her Arkhe alignment dealing Hydro DMG (CD: 6s).Furina's default alignment is Ousia. This effect can be triggered once every 12s. The energy blast type is determined by the current type of the Sword of Narzissenkreuz.EnemiesBoss EnemyEnemyDescriptionIcewind Suite - Dirge of CoppeliaDuring Climax, Coppelia becomes Ousia-aligned, increasing the RES to all DMG by 25% during all 3 sequences of attacks while uninterrupted.Attacking with a Pneuma-aligned attack removes the RES increase and Her wind pulses's AoE and DMG will decrease (to 60%).3 Pneuma-aligned hits during a single Climax will interrupt it and stun the enemy for a short period of time.Icewind Suite - Nemesis of CoppeliusDuring Climax, Coppelius receives a Pneuma-aligned Cryo shield.Attacking with an Ousia-aligned attack will immediately break the shield.3 Ousia-aligned hits during a single Climax will interrupt it and stun the enemy for a short period of time.Experimental Field GeneratorWhen the enemy teleports to the center of the arena and decreases the strength of gravity, it becomes Ousia-aligned and creates shockwaves that deals Geo DMG.3 Pneuma-aligned hits will interrupt it and the gravity will be restored.All-Devouring NarwhalWhile facing the enemy, it summons the Eye of the Maelstrom to deal AoE Hydro DMG.If the Eye of the Maelstrom is hit by by an Arkhe attack (8 non-Arkhe attacks), it will be destroyed and the Fury gauge will increase by a quarter. While facing the black shadow, an Eye of the Maelstrom will be charging up to deal Hydro, Electro or Pyro DMG. If it gets hit by an Arkhe attack, it will be destroyed and the shadow will lose 25% of its Max HP.Normal and Elite EnemiesEnemyDetailsAbyss EnemiesEnemies shares the same mechanism and 1 Arkhe (Pneuma or Ousia) attack can instantly destroy and paralyze the enemy for a long period of time.Large Shatterstone Breacher Primus & Shatterstone Breacher PrimusWhen the enemy enters a stressed state periodically, it will gain a Geo shield.Large Overgrown Breacher Primus & Overgrown Breacher PrimusWhen the enemy enters a stressed state periodically, it will gain a Dendro shield.Automaton EnemiesEnemies can be either Pneuma or Ousia and their alignments are distinguishable with attack patterns or its color. After a certain number of Annihilation reactions triggered on a specific enemy, it will lose its Arkhe alignment.Recon Log MekPneuma: Fires an AoE Electro bomb with delayOusia: Fires an AoE Electro trapAnnihilation reactions needed: 1Result: Unable to use elemental attacks for a period of timeGeological Survey MekPneuma: Fires 3 consecutive Hydro projectilesOusia: Releases 3 consecutive AoE Geo shockwavesAnnihilation reactions needed: 1Result: Unable to use elemental attacks for a period of timeNimble Harvester MekPneuma: Charges at the player with Anemo infusionOusia: Launches Geo dirt at the playerAnnihilation reaction needed: 1Result: Unable to use elemental attacks for a period of timeArea Alert MekPneuma: Fires a Hydro bubbleOusia: Fires 3 consecutive Cryo projectilesAnnihilation reaction needed: 1Result: Unable to attack for a period of timeArithmetic Enhancer MekPneuma and Ousia has the same attack patterns. Miscellaneous Findings

Dual ApplicationWith the use of a Pneumousia block, can to apply Arkhe twice. Through The Prop Arrow, he can unleash a Spiritbreath Thorn alongside another Spiritbreath Thorn/Surging Blade depending on the alignment of the Pneumousia block.Lyney with a Pneuma blockLyney with an Ousia blockNon-Reactive ArkheEven though Arkhe application deals elemental damage, it does not apply said element and are thus unable to trigger Elemental Reactions.Co-op ModeIn Co-op mode, Arkhe will act independently and consider players separately. When collecting a Pneumousia block, only the player who collects it will receive the alignment and thus, the Arkhe will only trigger when the player with infusion applies it. Annihilation reaction will also not be triggered if different players collect the opposite alignments.Arkhe InfusionWhen the player picks up a Pneumousia block and acquire Arkhe alignment, it can last for 60s when not applied, regardless of party deployment, active character defeat, and teleportation. The player can take advantage of it to complete the puzzles.
