Quick verdict

Worth pulling if you run an Ether Anomaly team (especially with Aria/Vivian) — he's the first stunner designed specifically to enable Anomaly DPS, stunning and feeding very smoothly. Outside Anomaly teams his value drops sharply since his stats lean toward Anomaly rather than pure Impact; don't prioritize him for generic teams.

Stat targets

Unlike an Attacker: Nangong Yu does NOT run Crit — she stacks Anomaly Proficiency + Anomaly Mastery (her Core converts Anomaly Mastery above 100 into Impact at a 0.8 ratio, so AM buffs anomalies AND feeds her stun power). No settled public stat table yet (she's a fresh 2.7/3.0 agent) — target QUALITATIVELY Disc 4 Anomaly Proficiency · Disc 5 Ether DMG (or ATK%) · Disc 6 Anomaly Mastery. Substat priority: Anomaly Proficiency > ATK% > PEN > flat ATK. Her kit already grants AP +100 and AM +36; signature Neon Fantasies adds +30% AM and Anomaly Proficiency. Push AM as high as possible for more Impact/stun — do not chase Crit.

Rotation & combos

1) OPENER: enter with full Dance Points (if M1), fire EX Special + charged attack (Perfect Charge) to apply Mark/Vibrato and switch on the +30% team-wide DMG buff for 20s. 2) Charged hits also shred RES (M1) and extend stun +3s — time them right before the stun window. 3) SWAP to the Anomaly DPS (Aria/Vivian/Miyabi…) to trigger Disorder/Abloom; thanks to her Additional Ability, buildup is faster (+20%, +40% on Chain) and Polarity Disorder can fire twice per stun window. 4) When the Daze bar is near full, use Nangong's Chain/Ultimate to seal the stun → the whole team dumps burst into the window. 5) Repeat: rotate back to Nangong to reapply Marks + buff, keeping -15% RES and +30% DMG live.

Pros
  • The FIRST stunner purpose-built to enable Anomaly DPS: she stuns AND feeds anomaly (+20% buildup, +40% Chain) and lets Polarity Disorder fire twice per stun window — a fit no other stunner offers.
  • Strong team buffs: charged attacks grant +30% team-wide DMG for 20s, plus -15% RES (M1) — multiplying the DPS's output, not just her own.
  • Anomaly Mastery → Impact conversion (0.8 of the amount past 100): she builds anomaly stats while STILL stunning hard, no trade-off between stun and feed — one stat covers both roles.
  • Flexible within Ether-Anomaly / Angels of Delusion frames: from Aria/Sunna (same faction) up to the premium Miyabi + Yuzuha comp with a higher damage ceiling.
Cons
  • Hard-locked to her signature Neon Fantasies: it's the ONLY Stun engine granting Anomaly Mastery — without it her buildup loop desyncs and she drops off noticeably; substitutes only cover the pure-stun role.
  • Value drops HARD outside Anomaly teams: her stats lean Anomaly rather than pure Impact, so in a traditional Attacker/Crit comp she underperforms a normal stunner — don't slot her blindly.
  • Layered rotation (Perfect Charge timing, Mark management, quick-swaps to feed Disorder twice per window) demands clean execution; sloppy play loses the +30% / -15% RES buffs and desyncs anomaly timing.

Recommended Bangboo

Biggest Fan — Angels of Delusion faction bangboo — the best fit when Nangong is pair... Element-matched Anomaly bangboo (Rocketboo / Cryboo / Plugboo) — When NOT running the same-faction team, pick the Anomaly bangboo match...

Endgame mode fit

Shiyu Defense

Good in Shiyu Defense: acts as the stun-window opener for Anomaly/hybrid DPS in single-target burst teams — Miyabi + Nangong + Yuzuha, or the Angels of Delusion (Aria/Sunna) comp, dump heavy damage into the stun window. A top-tier stunner for the Ether-Anomaly frame. (Confidence MEDIUM: new agent, limited public clears.)

Deadly Assault

Shines in Deadly Assault: multi-target, high-HP Disorder teams exploit her Additional Ability (Polarity Disorder twice per window) + M6 (auto-disorder outside the stun window) to pile anomaly damage broadly — high scores with Ether-Anomaly / Angels of Delusion teams. (Confidence MEDIUM, inferred mostly from kit.)

After using a Chain Attack, Ultimate, or EX Special Attack, if enough Downbeats are available, hold to skip the first hit and directly perform the second and third hits, which always trigger precise charging. When Nangong Yu is the active character, Chain Attacks, Ultimates, and EX Special Attacks do not interrupt the combo count of Basic Attack: Adorable Explosive Impact. While charging the first hit, Anti-Interrupt Level increases and DMG taken decreases by 60%. While charging the second and third hits, the character is Invulnerable. During the dash phase of the first hit, enemy attacks can be Blocked. On a successful Block, the attack is treated as a precise charging attack. Character is invulnerable during all attacks.

Core Skill2

Core Passive: Prodigious Idol
Nangong Yu's Anomaly Proficiency increases by 60. When Nangong Yu's initial Anomaly Mastery exceeds 110, each point of initial Anomaly Mastery above that increases her Impact by 1.When an enemy is Stunned, each time any character triggers Abloom DMG, Disorder DMG, or inflicts an Attribute Anomaly on the enemy, the enemy gains 1 stacks of Vibrato.A single enemy can have up to 4 stacks of Vibrato. If Vibrato reaches the maximum stacks and the enemy is afflicted with an Ether, Electric, Fire, Physical, or Ice Anomaly, or if the enemy has Vibrato and recovers from being Stunned, all Vibrato stacks will be cleared. When Vibrato is cleared, if the enemy is suffering an aforementioned Attribute Anomaly, Nangong Yu triggers an instance of Abloom DMG on the target, dealing an additional instance of Attribute Anomaly DMG equal to 720%/360%/900%/63%/90% of the original Attribute Anomaly DMG.Each stack of Vibrato on the enemy increases this Abloom DMG ratio by an additional 25%. During the same Stun period, once Vibrato has been cleared, the enemy cannot gain Vibrato again. When Nangong Yu's Basic Attack: Adorable Explosive Impact or EX Special Attack: The Unbearable Weight of Love hits an enemy, her Anomaly Buildup Rate increases by 17%, and her Daze dealt increases by 11%, and all squad members' DMG dealt increases by 13% for 30s. Repeated triggers reset the duration. While in combat, Nangong Yu restores 3.8 Downbeats/s. When any squad member inflicts an Attribute Anomaly on an enemy, Nangong Yu restores an additional 12 Downbeats. This effect can trigger once every 6s.Nangong Yu can hold up to 100 Downbeats, and starts with 30 Downbeats upon entering the battlefield.*Stats shown are at Base level.

Additional Ability: Angel Captain
When another character in your squad is an Anomaly character or shares the same Faction: Any squad member's attack against a Stunned enemy has 30% increased Anomaly Buildup. Chain Attacks against a Stunned enemy have an additional 30% increased Anomaly Buildup. When any squad member Stuns an enemy, Nangong Yu gains 2 stacks of Dance Prowess, up to a maximum of 2 stacks, lasting 15s, repeated triggers reset the duration. With Dance Prowess, when a heavy attack from Nangong Yu's EX Special Attack: The Unbearable Weight of Love, Basic Attack: Adorable Explosive Impact, or Quick Assist: Emergency Save hits an enemy that is both Stunned and affected by an Attribute Anomaly, 1 stack of Dance Prowess is consumed to trigger the special Disorder effect Polarity Disorder against all enemies who meet the conditions. This deals DMG equal to 25% of the original Disorder DMG, and triggers the previous squad member's Quick Assist. Polarity Disorder does not clear the target's Attribute Anomaly. If the skill fails to trigger Polarity Disorder, Dance Prowess will not be consumed. When Nangong Yu has Dance Prowess, the next time she switches to the field, she will immediately perform the first charged hit of Basic Attack: Adorable Explosive Impact, which will always trigger precise charging. When any squad member Stuns an enemy, Nangong Yu's next EX Special Attack will not consume Energy. This effect lasts 15s and can trigger once every 15s. When Nangong Yu and Aria are in the same squad, if Aria's Basic Attack: Perfect Pitch heavy attack hits an enemy that is both Stunned and affected by an Attribute Anomaly, and Nangong Yu fully participates in the attack, 1 stack of Dance Prowess will also be consumed to trigger Polarity Disorder on all enemies who meet the conditions. When the third hit of Nangong Yu's Basic Attack: Adorable Explosive Impact or Ultimate: Meteor Shower hits an enemy, the enemy suffers Misstep. Under this effect, Stun DMG Multiplier increases by 30% and when an enemy becomes Stunned, their Stun duration increases by 3s. Before recovering from Stun, Misstep can only trigger once on the same target. The increased Stun duration cannot stack with similar effects. When an enemy with Misstep recovers from Stun, the Misstep effect ends.

Mindscapes — how far is worth it?

M1 Lazy Spotlight Worth it

When EX Special Attack: The Unbearable Weight of Love or Basic Attack: Adorable Explosive Impact hits an enemy, the enemy's All-Attribute RES decreases by 18% for 40s. Repeated triggers refresh the duration. When entering the battlefield, Nangong Yu's Downbeat is restored to the maximum. In Investigation Zone Mode, this effect can trigger once every 180s. Dreams are such troublesome and expensive things. When the spotlight shines on her, it just feels a little warm, that's all. Honestly, watching Sunna blush from being teased, seeing Aria short-circuit from nerves, or discovering our next lucky break might be far more entertaining to her.

M2 Painless Tears Situational

Each stack of Vibrato's additional Abloom DMG ratio increase from Core Passive: Prodigious Idol increases by an additional 10%. The Stun DMG Multiplier provided by Additional Ability: Angel Captain increases by an additional 30%. When the active character's Chain Attack heavy attack hits an enemy that is both Stunned and affected by an Attribute Anomaly, it triggers Polarity Disorder, dealing DMG equal to 25% of the original Disorder DMG. Each enemy can only trigger this effect once during the same Stun period. Tears are a valuable stage prop, but unfortunately, she's always been short on stock. Luckily, her acting skills as an idol are good enough to make them fall right on cue when needed... whether it's to comfort a real crybaby, or win a little sympathy from the audience.

M3 Chips on the Scales Low value

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2 Choreography can be arranged, stage positions can be planned, and even popularity and the future seem like things money can sort out. Watching the numbers bounce around in the account feels like a reassuring little game... until a problem shows up with no price tag attached. Fiddling with the stack of "chips" she's best at using makes the scale of "it's just business" start to wobble.

M4 Accomplice's Dance Step Situational

Anomaly Proficiency increases by 40. The Anomaly Buildup of Basic Attack: Adorable Explosive Impact when hitting an enemy increases by 35%. I've got a habit of giving Sunna the most dazzling position on stage, and leaving Aria the high note that cuts through the night sky. My "dream" was borrowed from them, but the resolve to protect what I borrowed belongs entirely to me.

M5 Center Stage Low value

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2 The Yearlight lanterns drift up into the sky, and the stage curtain finally opens. The stage, the lights, their faces... everything has never been this clear. Turns out I've been standing in the center of the spotlight all along. I was never just watching from the sidelines.

M6 An Angel's Delusion Worth it

Nangong Yu's attacks deal 50% more Daze. When the enemy is not Stunned, each time any character triggers Abloom DMG, Disorder DMG, or inflicts an Attribute Anomaly on them, the enemy gains 1 stacks of Vibrato: Modified. When hit by the heavy attack of EX Special Attack: The Unbearable Weight of Love or Basic Attack: Adorable Explosive Impact, they gain 2 stacks of Vibrato: Modified. When hit by the heavy attack of Ultimate: Meteor Shower, they gain 2 stacks of Vibrato: Modified. Vibrato: Modified can stack up to 4 times. When the enemy becomes Stunned, all Vibrato: Modified stacks are cleared. When Vibrato: Modified is cleared, if the enemy is under an Ether, Electric, Fire, Physical, or Ice Anomaly, Nangong Yu triggers an instance of Abloom DMG on the target, dealing an additional instance of Attribute Anomaly DMG equal to 800%/400%/1,000%/70%/100% of the original Attribute Anomaly DMG. Each stack of Vibrato: Modified on the enemy increases this Abloom DMG ratio by an additional 25%. Vibrato: Modified cannot stack with Vibrato. Cameras, cheering crowds, glow sticks... that distant warmth turns into blazing fire. The dream I borrowed from others has already fused with my flesh and blood. From here on, this intoxicating "Delusion" will be defined by Captain Nangong.

Background & Lore

Nangong Yu, the captain and choreographer of the idol group the "Angels of Delusion," is a rare prodigy blessed with exceptional Ether aptitude, a sharp business acumen, and outstanding idol talent. Though she always presents herself with a laid-back air — teasing her teammates and joking around — she consistently receives the fewest negative reviews in the group. Although she often claims that her dream is merely "borrowed," she pours far more effort and emotion into this small stage than anyone would believe. Nangong possesses a rare gift for making the difficult look effortless — whether it's dancing, rapping, making investments, or reading people. That gift once served as the mask that allowed her to easily play the role of "captain," yet it also kept her isolated from her true desires. Yet whether it started as responsibility toward a close friend or later turned into an irreplaceable love for the stage, beneath the stage lights and the audience's gaze she has already forged those borrowed sparks into a light of her own. Increase Trust to Close to unlock more "Talent" is the halo that lets Nangong move through everything with ease, but it once also served as the fog that dulled her sense of her true feelings. She's skilled at evaluating and planning for everything, yet when it comes to the seemingly intangible concept of "dreams," she can't put a price on it. When the Angels of Delusion formed, Nangong Yu found herself dealing with a stingy agency that even charged its trainees for training. For the first time, she felt that her talent for "always spotting a business opportunity" had failed her. She could calculate the optimal choreography and predict which stocks would rise, yet she couldn't figure out how to keep this fragile group, built around Sunna's dream, alive. When their last savings ran dry and their only lead vocalist was about to quit under financial pressure, a dangerous "opportunity" appeared: use their unregistered Ether aptitude to enter a Hollow and carry out a high-paying "material recovery" job. It wasn't a dance studio — it was a real fight for survival. The makeshift weapon in her hand felt worlds heavier than any stage prop. And the rapid, frightened breaths Sunna took beside her set her nerves on edge far more than the roar of any crowd. In the end, they were lucky enough to complete the commission and bring back payment that could keep the group afloat. But when they stumbled back into the safe zone and looked at the dust-covered reward in their hands, what Nangong felt wasn't joy. She realized that what she was willing to risk her life and endure fear for was no longer the abstract duty of "helping a friend achieve her dream." It was the melody Sunna had written in that shabby rehearsal room, and the songs Aria had sung, the voices, and the stage that would one day belong to them. That longing itself had gained a weight no investment return could ever measure. From that day forward, she continued to calculate how to guard this "bargain dream" — one she had pulled into motion with her own hands and could no longer abandon — at the smallest possible cost. Belle Nangong can do anything effortlessly and flawlessly. If only Wise had that kind of talent, things would be so much easier for me, too. I'm kidding, Wise is great~ Wise I'm truly to blame for not being able to back you up, Belle... I'll have to learn more from Nangong!

How to read this build page

Every Agent build page has 4 parts: a stat table by level, W-Engine/Drive Disc suggestions, a Mindscape roadmap, and recommended teams. Read them in that order — stats tell you "what you need", gear tells you "where to get it", Mindscape tells you "is it worth pulling", teams tell you "who to pair with". The section below explains how to read each part, and it applies the same way to every character on the site.

How to read the stat table and level

The stat table shows values at the ascension breakpoints (usually the final one, e.g. Lv60) — these are BASE stats with no gear added, useful for comparing Agents or checking whether you've ascended far enough. CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG are shown separately because they set the damage ceiling once Drive Disc substats stack on top. If your real stats are lower than the table, you likely haven't fully ascended or leveled yet — it's not a build mistake.

Why the W-Engine and Drive Disc picks make sense

Most Agents have a "signature" W-Engine designed for their exact role, plus a few cheaper standard-banner substitutes. Missing the signature isn't a dead end — most Agents keep most of their power with a well-matched substitute, just short by some amount of total damage.

  • Drive Disc sets (2pc + 4pc) are picked for the set effect that fits that Agent's playstyle (mono-element, Anomaly, stun, and so on).
  • Substats follow a priority that changes by role: Attack-type Agents usually chase CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG before ATK%; Anomaly-type Agents add Anomaly Proficiency to that mix; Stun/Support roles often value survivability or energy stats over pure CRIT.

These weights differ per character — follow the exact substat priority table above rather than applying one formula to every role.

Is Mindscape worth chasing

General rule: M0 (no duplicates) already clears the game's hardest content, even for S-rank Agents. Mindscape is a duplicate-fueled upgrade system, and each level costs more resources for a smaller power gain. For most Agents, the best value stop is usually M1–M2 (where some key effects unlock), while M6 is almost always for players chasing the absolute ceiling, not a requirement. Check the Mindscape section in the table above for that specific Agent's numbers.

Skill priority by role

There's no single order for every Agent, but the general pattern by role is:

  • Attack: level the main damage skill first (Basic or Special Attack depending on kit), Dash/Dodge last.
  • Stun: prioritize whichever skill builds Daze/Stun fastest, since the stun window is where the whole team dumps damage.
  • Support: prioritize buff or energy-generating skills over personal damage — this role's value comes from lifting the whole team.
  • Anomaly: prioritize the skill that stacks anomaly buildup, since most of the damage comes from the triggered effect, not the direct hit.

Always level the Core Skill steadily alongside the rest — it's a baseline stat that affects the whole rotation, not just one move.

Where to dig deeper

This section only teaches you how to read the page — for deeper comparisons, use the dedicated tools:

  • Teams for full in-game comps, including Bangboo and rotation order.
  • Disc score to check how your current gear scores against the benchmark.

Nangong Yu FAQ

What is the best W-Engine for Nangong Yu?

Nangong Yu performs best with Neon Fantasies. See alternatives and required stats in the Gear section above.

Is Nangong Yu worth pulling?

Worth pulling if you run an Ether Anomaly team (especially with Aria/Vivian) — he's the first stunner designed specifically to enable Anomaly DPS, stunning and feeding very smoothly. Outside Anomaly teams his value drops sharply since his stats lean toward Anomaly rather than pure Impact; don't prioritize him for generic teams.

What is the best team for Nangong Yu?

Nangong Yu works best in the Ether Anomaly-Stun team. Full members and rotation are in the Teams section.

Who voices Nangong Yu in Zenless Zone Zero?

Nangong Yu (faction Angels of Delusion, birthday Sep 29) is voiced according to the official credits published on the HoYoverse Wiki. See the full English/Japanese/Korean/Chinese voice actor list in the "Voice Actors & Character Info" block above — this data is pulled directly from the official wiki, not guessed.

Which Mindscape of Nangong Yu is worth investing in?

Nangong Yu has 6 Mindscape tiers (M1-M6), each unlocking its own effect detailed in the "Mindscape" block above (official wording). Mindscapes cost Mindscape Cinema currency farmed from limited banners, so weigh it against your budget — F2P players usually stop at M0-M1 and prioritize W-Engine and Drive Discs before pushing Mindscape higher.

How much Denny and how many materials to level Nangong Yu to Lv60?

Leveling Nangong Yu to max Lv60 (ascension + basic skills to 12 + core skill A→F) costs roughly 1,706,000 Denny, plus role-specific ascension materials, attribute-specific skill chips, high-dimensional data, and weekly boss drops — see the full list with exact quantities in the "Materials Needed" block above, sourced from the game's official leveling tables.
